everything is a "shill" now. why the fuck would anyone shill their music here
>>129578636Retards do this daily. I just saw an obvious shill troll get his thread removed a few minutes ago
>>129578631>purposely troll and bait anons in order to abuse their privilege/powerproof?
Strange that, even as little as three years ago, we had several times as much activity as we do now, and 2023 was a far cry from /mu/ at its peak. It's difficult to say what caused user attrition but what's most disturbing is that the same users make the same threads ad infinitum. I'm sadly no exception to this, but I've tried in vain to discuss my darling's music career. I can't force anyone to have discussions they don't want, but few places to discuss music without user registration exist anywhere else online. What's really killing this board is a combination of user attrition, unchecked shitposting, low quality OPs and bait threads. User attrition is sadly inevitable as we can't force others to be interested in this place, but everything else needs effective moderation to foster a better culture for the few who remain.Cancer killing this board:>>129577276>>129574986>>129578535>>129577605>>129578206>>129565384>>129575276

Lurking through this thread is like watching all my funny gay uncles fight eachother at the family christmas gathering, it breaks my heart oh so much, I'm going over to /tv/ to spam jenna ortega threads so I won't be so sad, peace y'all
90% of the people bitching and moaning about /mu/ being dead are just mad they are no longer being spoon fed /mu/-core. they have exhausted the /mu/ essentials and rym charts, but are unwilling to put in the littlest bit of effort to actually discover new music, without some guarantee that no second of their precious 40 minutes will be wasted. they don't post about specific music they like, they don't formulate well thought-out requests for recommendations and neither do they give them. they're just mad the stream of their favorite media has ended, but they lack any willingness to keep it going.
>>129578651that's the endgame of an anonymous users board. no reward for quality effortful posting, no consequences for shitposting, lowest common demoninator gets more engagement.
Unrelated, but I really miss that kate bush girlfriend wish-fulfillment poster an awful lot (that nigga who photoshopped kate into home depot and whatnot with those silly little captions, I'm sure y'all know who it is), those threads were pure slop at the end of the day, but they were here for years and all, also, I've just relistened to Hounds of Love and I very much get the idea behind it, I wish I had some Kate Bush GF to whisper little shamanism thingies into my ear, and I'm sure EVERYBODY feels the same at some point in their livesDid all the other female musician/pop diva-fags gang up on him or something?

>>129581363I agree, but it looks like whoever is in charge of moderation here has no interest in user feedback and changing course.there was a brief revolution for 75 minutes last week when some people starting making threads about different albums, and janny promptly deleted it all and quashed it, and the usual shitposting resumed as if nothing had happened.
for all the faults of this board, i think there's something slightly sociopathic or cowardly about patronizing an anonymous music forum. most of the problems are hardwired into anonymity. if you want to part of a community, you need to assume an identity. if you don't, then this board is what you get, where people shit all over the place and think "not my problem"
>>129581433I've browsed message boards that aren't anonymous. The metalheads there were basically indistinguishable from the ones here.

>>129578857Mostly true. The death of curator culture, be it paid jornous or bloggers, means there's no 'canon' being formed around which discussion can coalesce. /mu/ (most of 4chan really) is just downstream of the algo now: the average thread here is a dump from Twitter/TikTok/ig and various kneejerk ctrl+V reactions to it. Basically, it's never going to get better no matter how stringently moderated.
>>129594972Nah that’s just a cope. With proper moderation, this place could be great for music discourse
>>129578620living /mu/ is spamming the board with the same album cover over and over again, arguing about if metal is for children or not and posting mega links in sharethreads without the encryption key
