For me it’s the harmonic tremolo
>>

I think the inner knob controls the gain, volume goes up n down when twisting it. I cant tell what the other two are doing though, but something is changing when I twist the outer knob back n forth mid note

you need to take it back to the shop and demand that they do a proper setup on it

Because amps are more fun-o-fun
>>
Are 5 string basses even worth it?
>>
>>130069089
Because signal needs to go to the sound card, get digitalized, sent to pc then spend time in whatever god awful creation microsoft shat out, then go trough daw, and then out trough speakers. It makes latency while amp just werks. You might say latency doesnt matter but it does no matter how small especially when you are practicing for hours, it gets to you.
Also booting up the PC, DAW or whatever is 10x more annoying than just hitting the switch on the amp.

Piano (classical music) > Classical Guitar > Electric Guitar

dont worry anon i did. here is a qrd

here in this voca he plays a weird altered version of metallicas master of puppets where he adds extra beats to the measure at random while the bass frequencies of his guitar rape your eardrums violently

in this one he starts out playing a repeating 2 bar e minor pentantonic phrase on a bass guitar with the worst audio quality you have ever heard. after about 2 repetitons of this phrase a guitar arpeggiating what sounds to be an E minor add9 chord comes in with the bass in the most sloppy and out of time attempt at music ever seen. and after a few bars of this it then leads to a solo where he runs up and down the scale while also still being completely out of time with the bass and then it ends.

here he can be heard playing sloppily lead guitar over a mario kart-esque fusion backing track while being completely out of key for the majority of the time. not much else interesting happens.

There are 6 possible permutations for three notes on a single string, defined by the ascending and descending finger directions: 1-2-3, 1-3-2, 2-3-1, 2-1-3, 3-2-1, and 3-1-2. These patterns serve as "variables" to break out of rigid scale positions and improve fretboard fluency by varying picking techniques like legato, alternate picking, and economy picking.

I've been taking lessons for 8 months and I'm at a point where my teacher is slowing me how to compose short solos focusing on basic harmony and melody principles using the major and blues scales; and focusing on syncopation. It feels so nice because it produces very different (and interesting) phrases than the ones I just came up with when I just noodled licks and scales.

To a certain extent, yeah. So far is giving me good results. I'm having difficult increasing speed though, he says I get real nervous and that's holding me back, that I need to play with more "intent". This led me to implement subtle changes like holding my pick more tight, focusing on relaxing my right hand workout or missing strength and form; and most importantly get more aggressive with the metronome increments.

I posted my recently acquired Blackface Fender Bassman with it’s corresponding 2x15 a while ago, I’ve been on a list to get it fully refurbished by a Fender authorized repair center for a few months now, but today I called and had a small discussion and they want me to get two things done before they look at it.

- Get it professionally fumigated (R.I.P. termites).
- Get it professionally cleaned (due to the odor of rat piss).

The first should be simple enough, but I have no clue how I’d be able to get this thing cleaned. That shit has to have soaked into the wood and tolex and everything, oh in case you’re wondering the odor is only coming out of the head, the cabinet doesn’t reek of it.

Does anybody know what I can do? As it stands I’m $200 in the hole having bought this, and the most I’d like to spend in the end is around $1000.

When I was a kid and a teen getting into playing guitar and bass, I fell for the stupid memes of "whoa, tonewood" and "whoa amps" and "whoa feel and soul and muh tone". Once I learned to actually write, record and mix decently enough, I unretarded myself because electronics don't care about the wood you place them in, and if it sounds good, it sounds good. Just because it says "retarded old american company" on the headstock doesn't make it automatically better than "retarded new asian brand".

It's depressing to see grown men still fall for the fucking wood and brand meme. Every guitar is just another product.

First of all forget having "Licensed Fender Repair" fix it and take it to a decent local tech. That Bassman circuit is one of the more simple circuits (relatively) to work on.
I say throw away the cab, get a new head from mojotone and take the chassis to a reputable tech around your local area.
If they can't fix a fucking fender circuit with no tremolo or reverb, then they shouldn't be techs.
>>
>>130073333
>whoa, tonewood
bs on electrics, truth for acoustics although the sides hardly matters like the top
>whoa amps
If you mean tube vs digital it's true and was even more true when you were a kid, digital was ass then and has come a long way
>>
>>130073398
Wood makes a difference with acoustics for sure. It makes no difference with electronic guitars once you plug them in, and electronic guitars are where you see all of the marketing faggotry about "muh mahogany" and "muh basswood" etc.

>>130073430
That, too. You can get a quality guitar that'll last you forever at around 1200 to 1500 bucks, and the 1500 ballpark is only really necessary if your output justifies it. Everything else is just branding and hyper-emotional wank. You're better off investing in good recording gear or gear for playing live instead.

>>130073457
>If you mean tube vs digital it's true and was even more true when you were a kid, digital was ass then and has come a long way
I bet you 99 out of 100 guitarfags would never be able to tell if something was created with a tube, a solid state, or with an amp sim nowadays.

The body wood on a solid body is minmally resonant, it wont matter to the amplified sound as long as the pickups are still in the same spot. The wood of the NECK however, different story. Dont take my word for it, try swapping maple and rosewood on a fender.

This is fucking retarded, the electronic signal is not going to be affected by a 1/8" strip of wood laid over the actual structural parts of the neck. There are all aluminum guitar necks and the difference is so minimal that you can easily chalk it up to the slight variation in fretting and picking dynamics. https://youtube.com/shorts/MRgVvs5s1mM?si=nUudR_MGHbRRfd7f

Got a mooer yellow compressor for my cheap bedroom board. It's really nice, pretty subtle and just what I needed. I think it helps out a little with the distortions on the valeton, which I'm inevitably just gonna take off my board. It's a good unit for what I paid for, but I feel I have out grown it. It seems to me a zoom multi stomp would probably be the best thing to cover mods/delay and reverb in my fx loop. I don't know about distortion though. I got a pure sky overdrive because I wanted something transparent. Maybe a DS1? Or are there any good clones that do anything interesting that worth checking out?

noob here. just bought a stratocaster. I'm on day 4 of trying to learn. and i am following the absolutely understand guitar with scotty west. it's really good. i like his teaching style. right now im trying to learn the chromatic scale stuff. and it's pretty cool. it's just difficult to push the strings down. and accidentally hitting the string next to it and it sounds dead. but i'm sure ill get better.

i think i want to learn to play classical and flamenco style at some point. but right now, i am enjoying learning the basics. no particular goals. maybe learn some music theory?

a good teacher should be able to understand where you are struggling and how to relay information in your learning style so you learn more effectively. they should also be able to teach you in a very linear and logical progression and get you learning songs right away instead of drilling techniques as nauseum. if you can’t find a good irl teacher, take a look at the classical guitar shed website. their woodshed program is pretty good

Yeah, I'm a beginner (~7- months with instructor) as a part of the weekly assignments his asks me to come up with a short composition (comping + solo) implementing new concepts learned during last session. In this case was using a mix of major and blues scale over a major chord progression.
>As for critique you can play
I would say is mostly on time (has many tie notes for syncopation), but you are right, I have some issues switching between triplet and straight feel
>right pitches better
yup, still working on this, desu I'm kind of afraid of bending on lower frets (3-6) from the high E string, I feel it's gonna snap any time.

Overall I have a feel I could let the notes ring more cause sometimes they sound choppy, any tips on this? when I'm playing to a meetronome I feel so rushed but when I hear it back is sounds so slow.

That's breddy gud progress for 7 months. Keep at it and with your instructor, you'll get better over time. It's a marathon and some years later when you listen to this recording you'd be surprised with your progress.
>snap city
Unless you've got really worn strings or some mechanical rough burs on the bridge (most of the time snaps happen from there) it's really hard to break strings. Try it next time when you're about to change strings, bend the fuck out of them to check how many half steps you can go - it's a lot.
Check this out - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tELIgr96WcM&list=PLHGO8LRIE17RpWDqM2iaFSDU8bqgpQxEK
And there's a video of him playing live with Hans Zimmer breaking a strings and recovering gracefully.

>feel so rushed but when I hear it back is sounds so slow.
No other cure but time in the saddle with a metronome and playing to records. You're barely a year in and the technical and mechanical aspects of playing still occupy a lot of your mental capacity. With and better technique and more experience you'll free up more RAM so you won't feel like you're rushing to fit the meter. Even Steve Vai with Frank Zappa early on shares that his sense of time wasn't that sharp and he was given a metronome by Frank and told to git gud.

For the ring out or general "space".. there's this tip by Warren Haynes from his Rick Beato interview. Say 12 bar blues and you're in the I chord.. think and play a phrase for the first bars (the call), then don't play the latter bars (the response). Or think up a phrase, don't play it and play only the response and other variations on the idea.
Good luck man, cheers
>>
>>130084772
