I think you're supposed to pick a bit closer to the bridge so the strings aren't flopping around so much, and experiment with how much palm muting you use to get the sound you want.

Ah, good distinction that I forgot to make. I tried some pick slanting exercises but I realized most of them were meant to be fast scale runs which I'm not looking for just yet. Not at that level.

One of my guitars isn’t grounded at the bridge so it still hums when I’m not couching the strings and it’s really annoying. It’s a really easy fix with some soldering but I’m incredibly lazy so this weekend I’ll wire a ground to the bridge so the constant hum won’t annoy me

There is no ground wire from the control cavity to the bridge cavity despite there being a hole between cavities for one. I’m just gonna wire a ground from the ground plate in the control cavity though the hole into the bridge cavity and just stick the bare end of the wire under the bridge and into a screw hole

Sent the guitar back on monday, got the refund confirmed yesterday. Feels bad that I had to return it but I wasn't gonna keep it with the issues it had. I liked the playability of it quite bit even if the look of it hasn't won me over yet. Didn't like the bridge much either to be honest. I probably would have kept it if it came perfect but I'm glad I got to return it without any trouble. Now I'm gonna save up a little more and buy myself something I'll enjoy even more I hope.

Benton Fusion IV. It had some factory defects, mostly cosmetic, a really flimsy input jack and the bridge was already eating through my strings right at the saddle. It was already looking like it was gonna be a headache down the road so I returned it while I could. I'll say though, the neck on it was amazing. HB can really do a very nice roasted neck I'll give them that.

I'm really looking at the Epi Flying V 70s. It looks great and as it turns out, I really am a V guy. I have a cheapo King V that I absolutely love playing more than any of my other guitars. I've also been looking at the Framus d series wh1 because it comes with a 25.5 scale, og Floyd and still has that classic V look. I strongly suspect skill issues might play a role there. It's usually beginners who buy the cheap guitars, they tend to overtighten screws or lack the experience to set it up correctly. I know because I was like that too. Kept breaking strings and getting string buzz, turns out that was because it was all crooked and tilted too far back.

The one genuine issue I found with the stock one was that the arm would work loose so even if you cranked down on the nut, it would wobble in the socket. From what I hear, that's also an issue on OG FRs. It was easily rectified with a push-in style bar. The upgrade cost 30€ and took literally 5 minutes, you just undo one screw and screw the replacement in.

I noticed a similar thing in my Epi when I swapped the pickups, apparently the wire shield wasn't internally connected to the back plate on one so I ran a ground wire to the cavity and just pinched it between the back plate and the pickup cover I had added.

I don't understand this. I get ascending intervals, I've memorized the shapes pretty much. But the descending ones don't make sense.

I'm at the minor 7th part. I've circled it in. But it doesn't make sense. It looks like the minor 7th ascending if I switched around the root notes. But another lesson showed me the inverse intervals and how they always add up to 9. So, the minor 7th should be a major 2nd, but I don't see how.

I've run through it using a familiar scale. I started at an A on the 3rd string. Following the above picture, the descending minor 7th is indeed a B.
So, I don't have to memorize the descending shapes. All I have to do is think of it the other way around: which lower note do I have to play to get the the wanted shape of the interval (starting from the lower note).

an exercise i do sometimes is i limit myself to 4 notes in one position and do not play anything other than those 4 notes.

this forces you to be creative with your phrasing. limit it to 3 notes if you want to try something more challenging.

Finished my first guitar build today bros. It's a bit of a gimmick guitar for a synth rock project where all the band members are "in character". Had a lot of fun making it
