That's not that slow. You should be able to find it with soapy water. If it's at the bead you can try pushing the bead back (with the air out) with a tire iron and cleaning the dirt out if there's any in there, and brushing in some rubber cement.

You won't keep it, so don't agonize over it being perfect. If you're anywhere with any kind of dirt roads/truck trails, get a dual sport and at least try it. Loose surface riding is the biggest shortcut to becoming a MUCH better rider everywhere.

Has anyone purchased a Chinese motorcycle? I haven't heard good things about the Hawk bikes, but I'm looking at a Templar X and have read some really positive reviews. The engine is a clone of the CRF230 engine, and the frame is KTM. It has ~20hp, adjustable suspension, and supposedly the build quality is pretty good. It would be about ~$2200 to my door.

I've been riding a hawk for 4 years. It's good. The Lifan KPX is the best one I've seen though. Disk brakes, all LED's, 6 gears, fuel injected, a way nicer swing arm. It's like $2800. Chinariders dot net is a live forum. Pretty useful information there.

Obligatory I will get my endorsement beforehand but, who here is 6'4" (193cm) and can show me some noob-friendly bikes that would actually fit my height? I like the idea of the adventure style bikes but I just don't know enough. Being someone with ZERO ride time, I doubt buying anything second hand would work considering I doubt anyone would let me test drive anything... not like I know what to look for. For the record I have zero friends who could help me buy something.

193cm friendly, literal noob zero ride time friendly, starter bike suggestions. Are there any?

I'm currently reading about the various BMW models at the moment.

194cm here, been riding a shitty xj600n for years and its not a big deal most of the time. Most bikes are fine, just dont get a sport bike. Getting a tall ADV bike has its downsides as well. Yes, you might sit more comfortable, but handling it especially at low speeds might be more difficult.

That being said, even with an ADV bike you should be prepared to get your seat upholstered by a couple of cm. Just got mine done for my old Transalp. Still had my knees uncomfortably high before, since you would sink into the seat foam way more than what pic related shows.

Additional info: Dallas Fort Worth suburb and exurb riding would be my idea for now. Like me going to the lake every few days would be a fun goal to work towards apart from doing lots of practice. There's no snow/ice to worry about so I could ride for a whole year while only worrying about t-storms and the awful highway traffic. I don't think I will go on the highways anyway--awful drivers and I'll simply use my car for that. 0-70mph sort of stuff if that helps. This is why I"m looking at the lower end GS models but I'm very open to whatever.
>>27767864
Thanks. I'm expecting to buy extras like a better seat. I doubt a few thousand dollars worth of a bike will be without downsides. I will add that TransAlp to the homework pile.

I disagree about handling tall adventure bikes at low speeds. Because of the tall, upright position and high handlebars they are very easy to handle at slow speeds. If you stand up on the pegs and make use of the rear brake you can do all sorts of tight maneuvering. A sport bike with clip-ons is much harder for example.

Day two of riding for the first time. Shifting is becoming a lot more natural after putting nearly 30 miles on the bike. Still suck ass at starting from a stop, especially when needing to turn at an intersection. Look like a retard nearly falling over, just to go wide into the wrong lane just to keep the bike from stalling lmao. I figure it's all in the clutch control, still need practice though.

Are you slipping the clutch? A good practice is to start the bike, pull the clutch in, 1st gear, zero throttle input, let the clutch out a little. The engine will start to bog down, but the bike should start creeping forward. You can just sit in a driveway and roll 2" forward and rock it back 2". That's the clutch engagement point. When it starts to crawl forward, give it a little throttle when you're confident, and that's how to start from a stop. Get sloppy with the clutch, its designed to slip.
>>
>>27767458

I ride the Templar 250 carbureted. Don't expect an A+ or anything, but I love mine. It rattles like a paint shaker for the first 300 miles. I mean it. Its trying to 'get you there' while its trying to get you there, if you know what I mean. They fucked up and accidentally wrote Xpro on the side of it instead of 'hitachi magic wand' if you get my drift. But, it's tough as nails, does freeway speeds (barely. it goes 67 but, not due to horsepower limitation, its cause of gearing). I put a big nibbi carb on mine and it really opened it up. i still get 60+ miles per gallon too. Don't get me wrong. its far far far from refined but it goes varoom and has yet to let me down. 2nd year and 1400 miles in. I mostly ride off road or around town for little errands. i put bark busters on the bars, and replaced the chain right away. you should replace the chain in the first month, its just garbage. and the manual recommends an oil change BEFORE TURNING THE ENGINE OVER FOR THE FIRST TIME. but, that is cause they put some crap in there just to keep it lubed while it sits in a warehouse for 2 years waiting to sell. its a good bike, fun, cheap, reliable, tough, just not great by any measure. youre not fucking up if you buy one

I hardwired my stator this morning and it never caught on fire during my tests so probably a win. I wouldn't go much further than around the block on this back tire though. With any luck the new ones should be here friday and I'll still be on schedule for the trip I have planned this weekend.

For sure. I'm sure the gsxr750 and r6 are about the same size, but the GSXS750's frame is wideset with extra steel under the gas tank around the radiator + the plastics on them for even more width. The GSXS also has a larger tail than that r6, wider seat for comfort, and presumably a larger gas tank for practicality

It's honestly unreal how many people get married out of a sense of not even "I have to" but "I guess I should", AND then don't even bother marrying someone they can stand to be around. It's like they see couples who fucking hate each other and just assume that must be the case.

But also a lot of men seem really reluctant to say "motorcycles don't really interest me" or just "no I don't ride" when it comes up. The following is pretty common: someone I don't know mentions my bike or it comes up that I ride motorcycles in conversation. At some point in the conversation I end up asking "oh do you ride too?" A lot of people seem to kind of freeze up like it's a gotcha or something, and then pretty clearly scramble for and fall back on the "oh haha I'd like to but my wife wouldn't let me!!!!!" or similar stock concepts.

If you want normal looking pants, look for riding jeans. Class A or AA rated jeans would be great. If you want to become a ADV daddy I think there are more options from every manufacturer.
>>
>>27769376
How do you take care of this shit? Just water, soap, antibiotic cream, then wrap it up?
>>
>>27769373
I have the redhead pain gene, opiates just make me groggy and constipated but also I do get withdrawals even though they don't touch the pain
I don't feel pain like normal humans and sometimes break bones without realizing it until there's a mechanical failure, but at the same time, painkillers are basically meaningless apart from Tylenol and booze
But I can't be on both at the same time, that way leads to disaster

Hot, and I mean hot water, hydrogen peroxide, scrubbing as necessary, and wrap it in gauze soaked with peroxide
Flush with peroxide no more than 3x/day, it inhibits tissue growth and if you can get away with 1-2x the better
Isopropyl if you can handle it

Contracts are for maritime law plebs and proles
Covenants are for God fearing men and women
And i also had to deal with this exact retarded scenario and its differences with a woman that wanted a contract over the covenant i gave her
Absolute shitshow, so best luck with keeping keep finders keepers

dont do this. it displaces oxygen and makes it harder for the cells to regenerate. just use alcohol and eat the short term pain for a quicker healing time

Get some alcohol and some gauze, then have a drink of the alcohol, get the isopropyl alcohol instead. Try not to cry. Clean that shit out. Cry anyways. Once it's clean, ointment and bandage up. For the first few days you'll need to change the dressing daily, then you can slather on a whole lot of ointment and just leave it on for a week or so. Then it should be healed enough to let it dry out
>>
>>27769403
Yeah that's why I said use it as sparingly as possible
Hot water is best, but it has to be, like, 145+ to sterilize, which also is a problem, because that's burn territory

Honey and coconut oil after cleaning it like other anon said
Those two are natual antibiotics and promote healing
Could add a few other things to a topical mix but be wanred honey will obviously stick to any dressing you apply
Aloe vera might be a good addition or alternative if you eat all your honey in the process of trying to apply it with your cursed thumbs

Also for broken ribs anon, do cardio, it helps heal you quicker, and try infrared sauna if yoi hardnof breath

>dude put fucking alcohol on something you want healed
What the fuck am I hearing? If you’re gonna use alcohol put it in your mouth instead to numb pain. Rinse with a megaload of water and then wrap it off, honey if you want it’s one of the best antibacterials you can think of. Otherwise just clean bandages over and over
>>
>>27769450
Alcohol to initially cleanse a wound is standard after you wash it with a lot of water and get all the not-human stuff out of it. I'll take a slower start to recovery over an infection.

>>
>>27769512
>how did that happen
Two days in South Dakota followed by two in Wyoming I guess
I didn’t notice anything yesterday but there were some pretty fucking nasty gusts, maybe that broke one or two? I was leaning to keep on my lane going straight. Today at the top of Beartooth I stopped for a pic at the summit, in a bad angle I guess cause the wind slammed into me and took the windshield
>>
>>27769501
The sticker means its tested and meets a standard.
>>
>>27769480
Every ECE 22.06 rated helmet I know of is thicker than its ECE 22.05 equivalent.
So they're trending thicker due to safety regulations.

Get a single layer pair of jeans, as in not laminated with any membranes. I can recommend Knox and Held, Rokker is supposed to be great as well, no hands-on experience though. Be careful to get the correct length for your riding position, otherwise the pants will ride up or the armor will cause discomfort. The riding up issue can be fixed with loops around your feet in some cases
>>27769262
