Which car brand makes the best engines

Pretty much every major manufacturer has made both turds and fantastic engines, except perhaps south korea who are still edging on the "just OK" tier. You can't just group them into "this manufacturer is good and this one is not". In Subaru world, the EJ251 is a turd and the 6-cyls usually are great.

This is why brandfagging is so dumb. It's the same anything vehicle related. It can come down to generations of certain makes of vehicle or even specific years.

Generally speaking? Dodge's OHV V8s. Economically, reliability-wise, efficiency, and power-wise, they're extremely hard to beat. Not a single Dodge OHV V8 has a reputation for failure. The closest is the Gen III Hemis with their tick, but that's a fault of improper maintenance, not a design flaw.

Even the old 318, for all the shit you can give them for being underpowered, can be built to full retardation with ease and take abuse like no other V8 in the world. The 340, 360, 383, and 440 were legendary for their abilities to take power and endure it. The 426 will always be King of Muscle and the only knock against it is that it is a literal detuned race car engine that requires TLC because it was designed to rape the competition in controlled racing environments.

Ferrari make more types of engines that are good though. NA V12, V8 and V6 turbos! All masterpieces in tech / performance for supercars.

The current Fireblade engine is Godly. Then their back catalog has v5s, loads of v4s, flay sixes, oval pistons, and their car engines are legendary too, K series etc.

Isuzu's engines are bullet-proof. You can slap 'em around, treat 'em rough as hell and they'll still turn over for you every time 20 years down the line far after their looks have faded and they've developed a crust. Slutty little things really.

Over here in Bongland they are.
Get pretty much anything road registered too as long as it has indicators, brake lights and number plates.

Chevy LS engines, because you can tune them and they last a long time.
Toyota are not as good because they break pretty soon after tuning them.
The core of BMW engines are good but its the engine accessories and stuff that controls that techno variable timing stuff.

That would take space used by the gearbox.

Kek the dedicated mech my company recently hired has a hemi 2500 with an obvious, really loud lifter tick.
Which makes me question the choice.

I stay away from cvt and turbo charge. I used to like tacomas until they went turbo.
Currently looking at the nissan frontier. Because they are still sticking to the v6 automatic.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
