>>28059675The XT250, for what I do with it, is not made to be a mini adventure bike. What you want is a CRF300 or a KLR depending on where you go. The XT250 is really only made for one person to go off-road or short highway stints. Going 1000 miles on one is going to be painful. It's also way overpriced for what it is unless you find it used. For the price, I would easily get a used KLR, BMW, or even a chink CFMoto adventure bike.
>>28060287That said I say 'fuck the police' and do it anyway. Let them pass me on the interstate going 65. idgaf. I can imagine with a passenger you may get 55 on a good day.
>>28059675Don't let our shitposting get you down. It's an excellent bike for thumping around town. It lives in the 55-65 mph range nicely with stock tires. Never tried two-up on one because the poor little 250cc struggles enough with me on it, and I'm a light 150lb guy. I can say my gear is 80 lbs and you can feel when the bags are full in responsiveness. If you're going to be 95% on-road with 5% off-road may I suggest a 300L Rally? It is the low-seat height adventure bike you're looking for.

I would rather get a ZX-4R instead of a EX500 but they're still over $10k otd. I'm not really seeing shit on Marketplace either and I thought this was the time for it. wtf
just saw an elantra N that was more scrap than car....
I'm just gonna get a clapped out R3 for dirt cheap whatever
>>28062003>R3 >dirt cheapgood luck with that, every beginner bike has a premium on it that refuses to go under 3kyou're better off geting an R1 for 2k
Where in the fuck do I dispose of motorcycle tires in the US? I've called belle tire, Walmart, the dealership I bought my last bike from, a nearby Harley dealership, and they've all turned down tires even with me paying for a disposal fee. They're DOT tires... Why do they take car tires but not motorcycle?Detroit is just a thirty minute drive away.
>>28062009>every beginner bike has a premium on it that refuses to go under 3kI noticed. The cheapest bike that I wouldn't smear myself on the asphalt with looks like a couple of CBR650Fs, but I don't want them. I'm being patient but I'm not really seeing jack shit out there.

Maybe I should stop fixating on beginner sport bikes. There's a V-Strom I could get for $4500 but it's almost 3 hours away.

>>28062062>$4500you can get literally 80% of bikes with just 3k here in my area, where the hell do you live where they're selling shit for that much
>>28062087The low cc sportbikes near me are all around $5500. $5000 if there's something wrong. $4500 if it's 3 hours away. There was a '23 R3 for $4k and it lasted maybe 5 days.>>28062094What>>28062095Western WA. The only things I've seen for 3k are '06 gixxers with 25,000 miles.
>>28062062Where are you? I'll look through ads.

>>28062105>>28062094You'll probably own the bike longer than a couple months. And it have more manageable power means that you don't have to revs it tits off to go on interstates, which means less stress for the engine.

Tonight was fun.
>>28062122>not sure what yer lookin' for, but I like these for a beginner bike.I think my criteria might've been too narrow. its hilarious how every FB listing is the same for these shit bikes>Bill of Sale>title not in their name>tags expired 2 years ago>everything works bro>probably hasnt had its oil changed since the last 2 owners
>>28061899CheckedIf its not turning over it might be the starter, ask him if the solenoid clicks. I just had the original starter on my '83 Innie crap out. Solenoid clicked nice but when I took the starter off it sounded like a spraypaint can when I shook it. Replaced it and she fired right up.I doubt its a bad contact or crappy wiring, Honda did good with the harness.

>haven't ridden in two daysDear God it feels forever>>28060769I hate snitching faggots, death to them all. State troopers are the scariest, but in my experience they've always given me the least amount of hassle and usually just tell me to chill out and get lost. Troopers are often chill. Sheriffs are faggots. Little city cops are bigger faggots. Big city cops are too busy dealing with murders and robberies to give a fuck about a speeding crotch rocket.>>28060807It's in spec with deflection, I measured it. hello /dbt/I remember an anon here was going to do a VIN check on a bike that ended up being a scambut i have come across a new bike and would like osme infoJH2PC3510XM000499it's a cbr600 f4very suspicious of the bike since it might be stoleni ran out of NICS checks so if any other anon can check i'd be grateful

Would it be a bad idea for someone to start wrenching by trying to install a bore-up kit to turn a 250cc into a 300?
>>28062391Not at all. Just dont forget any steps (you will). If you havent gotten the bike yet I'd suggest starting with an air cooled engine just because it is one less batch of fluids to deal with.
>>28062397I'm looking at the CBR250R that the anon linked me above. Should I check forums for instructions? How should I be learning how to disassemble the bike?
I love the Suzuki TU250X more than you guys can even believe. How is it twice as fun as a literbike with 1/4 the displacement and 1/4 the cost?
>>28062386At the moment, I don't think so. I'm keeping it for an investment. The value just keeps going up and it's becoming a classic. People are starting to have nostalgia for it, I think I can make some money on it when collectors are lusting for it (probably).
>>28062414Youtube university, my dude. Forums are also a great help. Why this bike to learn wrenching? You could get the CBR and get a gy6 150cc to learn while saving headaces and money. They are all pretty much the same on the inside anyways. You can also kit out a gy6 to 232cc and do nearly the same numbers as the cbr.Or if you got the money to throw around like that then go nuts on the cbr a single cylinder is great for learning.

>>28062358Last riding times i had was when i tried finding a gas station in bc for the tennyfrens, those mountain passes were cold as fuck and full of rainThen i stored my baikus with cousinDid a few rips around with vfr before i started work again, but i gotta do a bunch of maintenance on the crf450rl: oil and filter change, gotta grt new turj signals or a tail tidy integrated kit because the right side melted from shoombraps, and a cam chain tensionerIm also due for a fuel filter as per the oem maintenance, wonder how thatll be with the ims tankThen there is the rear tire, which idk if i want to sacrifice the set to make them studded for winter and just hold off until next year, but if i go do that ill have to get all this shit done at once and no garage or space to do it in currentlyAnd top it all off, my waranty wont cover shit as far as any of those little things go, might be able to squeeze 1500km ~ more out of the rear, but idk if i want to bother for winterNeed to sell my viffer, but all i get is trade offers and no responses after i tell people a price, these peepoo wont even negotiate or low ball me kinda sadHad a ducatti 848 trade offer but he wanted cash on top it seemsAlso have an aprillia dosoduro offer but i dont really see the point of owning a sumo when i have the crf i told himI need to get living situation figured out bros; world is a fuck and i cant be assed to pay rent or a stupid mortgage if im home for only a week or less at a time on average, wondering if i should find a camper van or trugg to do the mobile motolife, do this temporarily and have the apartment rented out, if i can get this crap and some stability figured out i might be able to prolong some sense of securityKinda split between truck box camper or toy hauler and a class b motorhome vanIts either figure someyhing out or i might just do the fixes and give both my bikes away to family and fuck off to another adventure far away, civvy life is fake and gay as fuck bros

I'm thinking of selling my fully restored, 40-year-old Honda VF 750C Magna with 20k miles on it. My friends ride enduro and croch rockets, and I don’t want to ride the life out of this beauty. Should I sell it or replace it? I barely rode it this summer, and it just sits in the garage so I'm sad af. I can't keep both. Any advice brahs?
>>28062633>Should I sell it or replace it? Keep it and buy a second bike.>I can't keep bothYes, you can.
>>28062634It sucks seeing it just sit in the garage and when I do ride it, I push it hard because it's such a powerhouse for its size and age :(It's a rare bike in this condition so I don't really want to fuck it up, can't trust myself lol
