I tried bleeding brakes, it seemed straightforward but after like 2 hours the sun went down and I got mad and left for the day. The process is straightforward but it is not working. The fluid I added to the master cylinder on the handlebars never fucking went anywhere. I bled at both sides of the caliper and got a mix of fluid and air moving but eventually they stopped doing anything. I never built up front brake pressure, it pushed back but it wasn't enough to do the process of building pressure -> open valve -> close -> repeat. Am i supposed to bleed the master cylinder as well somehow?

monochrome LCDs really are the worst option compared to analog gauges and TFTs
>>
>>28075259
I really can't.
I was just looking at a new pair fox's for $500 (I just can't do it, just out of principal).

Protip:
If you need a pair of boots, buy a ticket to motoX and just hang out in the parking lot near the dumpsters by the racer's motor home parking.
They only use their boots for like 1 race then throw them away (must be nice to be sponsored).
They might hit one with a razor blade (like my old pair) but it usually doesn't do any damage that matters.
>>
>>28075259
I wonder how long before you gotta glue the bottom
>>
>>28075266
Valves are supposed to stay open till they start bleeding again. Keep working thre brakes with the valves open with the master cylinder on till it starts coming out of the valves.
>>
>>28075259
Do you do long cruises or off road riding?
If not control your wallet.
>>
>>28075266
Did you replace the master?
Because yes, you're suppose to "bench bleed" first.
Basically fitting>rubber hose>back into reservoir. Pump until you stop making bubbles.
Then it's hook to line>pump (and hold)> crack bleeder>tighten> release>repeat.

I have a feeling that you're opening the bleeder too much/keeping open so any pressure is lost and it just backwashes a giant fucking air bubble through the bleeder.
Just slightly crack it, let out something then tighten, quickly.
>>
>>28075278
It isn't new, it was empty when I checked it so air
got into the line it seems. It is possible that I was opening it too much, it had time to kind of stabilize before I closed it.
>>28075275
I have no idea what "master cylinder on" means. Are you saying I should open my bleed lines and just pump the front brake? I did that and small amounts of brake fluid came out but after that it was just sucking and blowing air
>>
>>28075266
you can always get a hydraulic bleeder, it saves a ton of pain

Bit of both, crashing included. Last week I had a trip camping around the outline of Michigan that rounded up to a little over 1k miles. My current long trip go-to boots (tcx rooks) were not up to the task of protecting my foot when I binned the bike in some sand.

You can take a Ninja 250 from 2005 on the highway, but you'd never want to sit at the RPMs you'd need to maintain highway speed for an extended period of time.
There's very few commercial bikes you literally cannot take on the highway, save riding 2-up or being a fat fuck.
>>
>>28075299
They all looked like monthly payment gos services unless it was tile.

correct, it depends on where you live. most people will give you advice based on where they live. rebel300 is great if you live in a high enforcement zone (euro/urban)
>>

American revs are 1000x more harmful than everyone elses revs.
If your bike can't do 100mph at tickover then you must be ruining your engine.
Peak torque is a nice point to ride at even if it is at 6000 rpm.

Don't know how much of it leaked but I'm guessing most of it if it got bad enough to noticeably change the way it rides

Low enforcement state(nc), wind and lack of fairings make it worse. I wouldn't even try on an air cooled thumper for more than 30min on hwy past 65mph though. Even with the water cooling hwy and interstate 85 and 77 suck to be on in general.

Well, having the excess power at highway speeds to pass 18 wheelers and other hazardous vehicles does go a long way to keeping you alive. Posted speeds aside- I live in Charlotte NC, both 77 and 485 are 60-65 interstates and not a single person goes that speed.

That's not good, that looks like it went through the coating to the underlying metal and is now causing corrosion on that metal. You may need to sand it + touch it up with some rustoleum

Paint anon, I did a test on the one side that had the damaged cowling piece already. It's only a $20 piece of unpainted abs plastic that I can just strip and repaint. I will need to get the correct shade of white, this was just a test to see how it would look.

What you said about tieing that side fairing to the rear made sense. What about the little plastic pieces at the bottom of the tank?
Also,
I can't decide if the whole thing should be white, or just the inner part of it.
>>
My $35 copart bid had me excited and it hit 15 hours left and jumped $200.
For those that aren't aware- after the fees youre looking at 100%-150% additional.

So my $80 bike is now $500.
I only need it as a donor- so engine, engine cradle (even if the fork tube is fucked, idk), electronics ... and gas tank + seat and subframe/bitch seat would be cool.
Should I keep bidding?

It's just what I had in my shop for a test. I agree the color does not match, as I said in my post I'll need to get the correct shade of white, strip and repaint.
The purpose of the test was to see if painting that little cowling piece would tie in the side fairing better to the overall paint scheme of the bike. Because something has always looked out of place to me about that white side fairing stuck right on the center of all the blue. The other anon pointed out that it looks out of place because it looks unfinished and not tied into the line of the rear fairing. So I painted that piece to see if it would do that. I will need to get the correct shade and repaint it, it is too eggshell, I agree.

For reference, this is the other side of the bike, factory scheme.

You can blend that blood line in that tiny piece (maybe), I just have fat fingers.
And again, pinstriping and secondary/thirdchiary (fuck off, I'm drunk and normally a good speller) can go a long way to blend colors.
It's nit just colors, it's flowing with the body lines also.

That original pic with blue tank and white lower fairing doesn't look "right", even if it is factory.

Found the euro

I'm laughing and talking shit about you but that's just in fun, it really is an amazing bike.
Was my first at 18 (I knew it's colors and Googled a pic for my example because it's so familiar).
There's a couple on copart I was thinking of bidding on, maybe I could rebuild a good bike out of 2 or 3.
Small enough to whip around town but big enough to do 70+mph comfortably.

I mean, I'm never going back to a twin but if my life was different (say on a cobble stone street in paris) I would be king when the bars closed and the drunk and horny chick's needed a ride home.

I'm guessing around 60k (?)
They're solid bikes.
You probably hear a little top end noise that needs to be adjusted.

It's really boring.

>heritage soft tail
Fell like a Harley but with shittier bars.
>fat boy
Feels like a heritage soft tail but with shitty rims that don't like crosswinds
>road glide
It's a fat boy but the salesman suckered me into paying $5k extra for plastic saddle bags.
>Electra glide
It's a road glide with more plastic shit that makes it worse because my legs are getting cooked by this stupid fucking air cold 114 ci engine (1.8+L for you euros) because the air flow is being diverted around the rider space.
Oh, also pid $10k over the road glide for the privilege of being a frequent Flier at the burn ward.
>street glide
Everything aforementioned plus having kids think I'm on the way to a Star Trek convention.

Add pinstriping between the colors when youre done.
Maybe light blue.
Or pink. (My favorite bike was white/blue with a pink stripe, looked badass)
It really ties it in and makes it look "right" or "complete"
>>
>>28075732
Oh ya, just want to add that the baggers are technically like 2" longer than the heritage /fat boy.
Totally worth the price difference...

HD is so convulated.
It's the same shit.
Over and over.
That's why they're dying.
>>
>>28075498
If you want pics for a dollar ask R6, bet he puts out
>>
Alright so at $200 "bid" I'm figuring $500 out the door.
Since I know a little bit about crashes I can see forks/triple clamp/radiator/header is fucked.
Frame is not usable as a quick rebuild.
But everything I need is intact.
>I'm building a monster quad btw
Should I hold out for a liter bike?
Or is this a steal?

Has anybody done an ECU flash from someone like Ivan's? Do they actually turnaround as fast as they claim? I'm not expecting a noticeable power bump in the Z900RS but the fuel cutting and snatchy throttle is the the only widespread criticism I agree with, flashing seems to be the only surefire way to fix it.

Leather jacket with layering.
Pants find some heavy fleece line pants and where thermal leggings underneath and you can buy external knee guards for safety and to keep the wind off.

Is buying a house a reasonable goal where you live? If the house isnt a definite thing spend it on bikes 100%

Every time. I never feel centered. It has to be the tires being oddly flat in the middle because of the bank in the roads.

I also think the lower COG your bike is the more of that feeling because your body itself isnt perfectly centered and it makes the whole bike lean ever so slightly. Like is one leg is more out than the other.
