I never had an R7, but like I said I had an Mt-07. and the engine is on a whole different level. and to be fair that's sort of expected given on how it's a bigger engine. don't be fooled by the the stats on the sheet, this thing feels like it has way more power than it has, the torque feels monstrous, how effortlessly it goes from 80 to 160 just giving it half throttle like it's nothing.
On another very positive note, it's one of those now rare bikes that is 100% made in japan

it's not a super sport, the ergos are quite comfy. the most comparable one is the CBR650R or something like the aprilla rs660. It's a twin, so you know what to expect, lot's of torque, but non high reving screaming engine without too much top end. Power peaks at 8.5k

You should consider handlebar covers. That, in addition with gloves, helps with cold and wind.

I have been thinking of getting into sport bikes more. I know its not quite a sport bike but this is the rear set on my cb500x. With the stock pegs my knees got stiff after riding. This peg is lowered and put more forward. This allows more comfort on long highway rides like on a cruiser but I cant rest my heel against the rear set and be more grounded and be as sporty like a sport bike my knees are also lower and grip the bike in a narrower and lower spot. The stock pegs sucked but I think they allowed for a better ergonomic control.

Actually one hell of an engine in that one. Not quite ktm 500 levels of torque, but getting close, and probably more zip than any of the other 450cc rally/adv bikes I'm familir with while also being lighter. Longevity remains a question, but no way to say yes or no until we start seeing some 45-60k machines going up for sale and needing minimal work.

I like the aesthetic of the 701 with knobbies as a futuristic scrambler, has to be the single cylinder for this concept also under 420lbs and possibly frame upgrades, reminds me of early droog motorcyxles when they did a xr650(?) as a custom build
But it nees alot of work to be made good, like replace all internal ktms and engine swap with cc and hp to match

idk man, the specs on it seem insane, it seems like it has everything (good adjustable suspension, screen for a dash, backlit buttons, self cancelling indicators, ABS (can disable rear), TC, quickshifter) and its 6k euros like I said, I dont see any drawbacks for a 400cc naked
like sure its a bit of a scrambler larp but its a 400cc, its not a 200mph bike, or even a 100mph bike lmfao

These things are absolutely tiny, and have ergos for deformed midgets. They're also completely useless on the highway.
If you want a little city runabout with a single-cylinder engine, you would be much better off with a CB300R. And if you want something cost-effective with better performance and are willing to risk the KTM/CFMoto tax, then you would be better with a 450NK.

Yeah. I was coming home from a 12hr shift, parking the bike between cars in the dirt driveway. I went stupid and grabbed too much front and it tipped, couldn't stop it from falling. Hit the kill switch and just picked it up. I figure since its a sportster the center of gravity is low so it made it easy to lift. Bike was fine, cars were fine, I was pissed but fine.

The definition of pain and existential dread is getting into the US Honda/Suzuki/Kawasaki website and see you can still buy V2 japanese cruisers brand new. Fuck european regulations
>>
>>28193168
keep testing the temu bikes on the temu population chang, when they're half as good as jap bikes maybe people in the US will stop laughing at these totally-not-shilling "articles" and start taking you seriously. I mean people would literally rather buy the indian made bikes here from RE than even try one from China and that tells you everything you need to know.
>>
>>28193168
The only thing it will save is specialized 4x4 tow truck companies. I live nearby a chink bike dealership that works with CFMoto among many other brands. I've witnessed their build quality
>>
>>28193168
Last year they're wasn't many folk at the cf moto text for test rides. Might check it out this year for shits n giggles

Only thing worth worrying about on this bike is the Austrian designed engine. But I suspect it's built to a higher spec here than in the orange bikes

yes, it's Austria that's known as the epicenter of the cheapest and lowest quality consumer goods on the planet LMAO

It's not cfmoto that's literally collapsing and can't sell bikes rn.
>>
>>28193230
and yet no one, not even a chinaman, would take a cfmoto over a ktm if either were free
>inb4 I-i-i would!!
yeah we get it you're trying to legitimize chinese manufacturing on an anonymous image board and it's likely your full time (slave labor) job, give it a rest

Husqvarna sm610 for first bike.
What do you think? Apparently this one is from the BMW years and reliable.

good choice for first bike, do your own research but supermotos and big singles are usually lightweight, easy to ride, simple to maintain

It's the design that's flawed. KTMs in general have shit quality. The Bajaj Indian made 390 is their best bike

They damn sure like them for motorcross aroud here.
> Asked coworker who previously completed what dual sport they would recommend for my first bike
> "Definatey a ktm 350. Good pep. You don't want to be picking up anything heavier all the time."
No, Conner, I do not need a 250lbs bike that produces 50hp at the motor and has such a high compression ratio that you measure service intervals in operating hours for a first bike

I had a gen1 2002 R6 way back. The early R6's had a weak 2nd gear that would slip. For 2002 Yamaha fixed the gear box in the last year Gen1. Other things I learned,
>Overheated rectifier, connector cooked.
Gen1 the rectifier is buried under the seat where their is no air flow. Its also a generic off the shelf connector with no weatherproofing.
>Carburetor balancing,
You're going to need to buy a tool and learn to balance carbs, or find a garage that still has experience working on carbureted super sports.
>Almost no aftermarket left for it.

Other than that its a good bike and surprisingly street friendly compared to the newer R6's. Its closer to 80/90s sport bikes in comfort. The Gen1 R6 feels a lot like the modern CP3 Yamaha engine of today. It also has cool tail lights.
>>

>The early R6's had a weak 2nd gear that would slip
It was probably just someone's clutchcess shifting learner bike kek, dog boxes haven't changed in like 60+ years
>>
>>28193503
At least the R9 is uncomfortable and looks retarded
>>
>>28193515
You are the first person I've heard that likes their CRF450, but I suspect you knew specifically what it was for before you bought it.
>>
>>28193503

I'm sure that's part of it sure. But the second gear was actually weaker in the Gen1 R6. If I recall it was something to do with the gear slipping under hard acceleration causing the dogs to round off. The updated 2nd gear has four dogs where as the old gear had three. Yamaha also beefed up the shift fork. Supposedly the Gen2 gears can drop into the Gen1's gearbox so its something that can be fixed.

Its something people looking to buy a 99-02 R6 need to know. If they are a wrenchlet they'll need to pay some garage like $1-2k to replace gears on a bike worth $2-3k. If I was in the market for another 99-02 R6 I would demand a test ride or paperwork showing the gear was fixed. Or walkaway.
>>
>>28193503
What are you on about? The R9 is almost a completely different bike, pretty much only the engine and computer is the same.

>R1
Yamaha is developing a V4 to replace the CP4 because V4s are spawn camping I4s in the corners. Also MotoGP is retarded and dropping the the limit from 1000cc to 850cc again. Because Yamaha wants to stay in MotoGP and they don't have infinite money Yamaha needs to develop a new engine that can drop into MotoGP and Superbike classes. Research and engineering is expensive.

Thank you. I think it's the way to go. In the UK DRZ sm are all clapped out and way overpriced, since they were stopped due to emissions back in 2009.

This looks way better in all aspects!

>camshafts melting due to cheese heat treating is the fault of the design and not the manufacturer
