If I just want something to exploring trails with minimal maintenance, should I get a crf300f or klx300r? I've been riding dual sports and motorcycles the better part of a decade now, so size isn't a huge concern, but my bonneville isn't great on dirt and I'd like something for exploring deep into trails and bdrs out here.

I'm not a huge guy, 5'9, so maybe a 140 would be enough too. I miss my old pit bike.

Klx300r has dohc with liquid cooling while the crf300f says it has sohc with air cooling. Kawasaki has a 270 front 240 rear brake while honda has a 240 front 220 rear. Kawasaki has 1.7 inches more of suspension travel, which you might not feel, but adjustable suspension. Kawasaki also has higher compression and a square over engine built to rev high all day. Not sure about the honda's build but it seems like a lower compression engine intended for easy riding at lower rpms on the trails.

Honda priced the crf300f directly to compete and undercut the klx300r, and in doing so made a piece of shit that directly replaces the crf250f with another lightweight, light duty bike. So will $500 make it worth getting a significantly worse bike? Your call.

Motorcycle helmets do indeed expire. They are designed to protect your head, but over time, the materials used in their construction can degrade, reducing their effectiveness.
Lifespan of Helmets

General Recommendation: Most manufacturers suggest replacing helmets every 5 to 7 years.
Factors Affecting Lifespan:
Material Degradation: Helmets made from materials like fiberglass, carbon fiber, and polycarbonate can deteriorate due to exposure to sunlight, heat, and sweat.
Accidents: If a helmet has been involved in a crash, it should be replaced immediately, even if no visible damage is apparent.

Signs of Expiration

Visual Inspection: Look for cracks, dents, or significant scratches.
Fit and Comfort: If the helmet feels loose or uncomfortable, it may be time for a new one.
Inner Padding: Check if the inner foam returns to its original shape after being pressed. If it doesn’t, the helmet has likely lost its protective capability.

Conclusion

Regularly inspect your helmet and adhere to the manufacturer's guidelines for replacement. Even if a helmet appears clean and undamaged, its materials can lose protective properties over time.

Hello anons, How do you guys live with a big bike? I have a small 300cc bike and I take it around the city, park anywhere, its around 175kg so its easy to handle and its fine. I ride with Helmet, gloves and TCX Street ace. If Im touring, I go with full gear, sometimes, I skip the boots and gloves and just ride with helmet, shorts and flip flops. So, I buy a big bike like F850GS, I cannot do this anymore right? Ride around city without proper gear? Or is it no big deal? Should I only use the big bike for touring? Do you ride with MX Boots or are Adventure boots good enough? Street ace is not good enough anymore for bopping around?

Any bike can do barely paved roads if you're careful enough. I was entertaining the idea of an XSR700 as a scrambler.

I ended up with a z900rs because boomers love them so they're always for sale in my area at the same price as bikes targets towards younger riders.

You’re really gay if you insist on atgatt at city speeds. The limit is 25mph where I’m at, you don’t even need a license to operate a moped at those speeds.

Oh fuck, why am I doing this to myself. I already decided that I want an Ultra Bee, why did I have to listen to the siren call of Livewire discount? Now I want a Mulholland.
This bike is weird. It poses as a croooooser, but it's slim, it feels light and agile, its ergos let you comfortably stand on it, all as if somebody wanted to actually make a sumo but was ordered to make it a harley. It accelerates just right, it engine brakes just right, and its seat is sculpted just wonderfully.
I only got to sit on a half-disassembled Del Mar, without the tank panels its seat was digging into my thighs, but not sure if with the tank it would be any better, the shape of the seat itself is different from Mulholland.

Man I can't afford atgatt. Why is this guy antagonizing people and being so mean? Its insanely expensive to do. Plus its literally over 100f everyday where I live. Give me a break. Can you give me a break? I just want to commute. I just can't do atgatt. This isn't a hobby for me. I don't have a car alternative or something. >and drive safe
its not your riding thats the issue here, its other people

the more you ride, the more people you encounter
the more people you encounter, the more bad drivers you encounter
the more bad drivers you encounter, the more shit situations you get (NOT YOUR CHOICE)
the more shit situations you get, the more likely you are to have an accident

if you only ride your bike from your house to the shops and its <1km away, the chance of you getting mowed down by a soccermom running late for her zoomcall is never non-existent
but the more time you spend in the saddle, the chances of this happening to you only ever increase

and by the sounds of it, you might be a thirdie, so you should 100% invest in self preservation gear, tactics and mentality - unless of course you want a swift exit from the subcontinent, in which case find the nearest train

Hey gents,
I just a heads up to be wary of getting gloves from Odin Mfg. I ordered a pair that were on sale, $49 from $75. When they came in I was honestly not impressed by their quality. The kicker were some seems that already were starting to stretch and fail. Couldn't initiate a return on their website, their policy (on a separate page, not on the glove's page) is that they don't do return/exchange on sale items. Sent them a email with the picture, waiting to see what they are going to do. Whether or not I get a refund/exchange isn't exactly the point here. If the build quality on these gloves in indicative of their full price gloves: avoid!
>>
>>28596139
interdasting. a caliper rebuild kit should come with the rubber pieces and maybe the one bolt. also, don't use one of the big torque wrenches for that small of a bolt.
I just chose a random year, so look up the year specific to your bike. You can also copy+paste the part number to amazon.

Simpsons are alright depending on the model. The outlaw bandits are snell certified and you can get them with carbon fiber. The other stuff is just chinese ece 2205 like every other cheap helmet. I'd still prefer them over ruroc though cause ruroc is a smaller, newer company. At the end of the day, just look for ece 2206 or snell certified helmets if you care about safety. Otherwise whatever makes you feel cool. Raimu and the other of the stigs cousins would be ashamed of the increasingly globalist cost cutting measures of modern gear and motorcycle manufacturers

If india just cleaned up their metropolitan areas and some of their landmarks, their image would be so much better. It doesn't do good for anyone having the ganges full of shit and dead bodies, slums around the taj mahal, and delhi being a saturated mess. Every big country in the world has homeless people and slums. Economically and public image wise, India could easily elevate itself to china's level if they could get past their cultural road blocks with castes and swallow their pride. The ball is in their court right now in like every industry.

Scooters are legit bikes for daily use.
They can have decently big wheels and have more protection against dirt and water. They also have space for a full helmet or a bag under the seat. And unlike your weekend queen you don't suffer if it gets a scratch. It is the perfect urban workhorse.

That S2 Mulholland ride convinced me that I will go electric. I don't care about the downsides. I don't like long-range high-speed rides anyway, I prefer to go slow.
Now I need to decide how low will I go. Perhaps instead of an e-moto I should pick an L1e bike to enjoy the slowest possible rides on bike paths. Or maybe even go with speed-pedelec, or, god forbid, with an e-bike.

What will my ass the least uncomfortable on a long multi-hour ride: a motorcycle seat, a bicycle seat, or a scooter seat?

Where is the difference? In the shape?
Are choppers bikes?
Are trikes bikes?
There is no scooter specific license in most places.
>>
>>28596652
choppers are chopped up bikes
trikes are trikes
yes, because most scooters dont fall under a license category, retard.
>>
>>28596652
>Key Differences
>Frame & Riding Position:
>Motorcycle: Triangular frame with the engine between the rider's legs. The rider straddles the bike, swinging a leg over to sit.
>Scooter: Step-through frame with the engine under the seat. Riders can step into the scooter and place their feet on a platform in front.
>Transmission:
>Motorcycle: Almost always has a manual transmission with a clutch and a foot-operated gear shifter.
>Scooter: Typically features a fully automatic "twist and go" transmission, simplifying operation.
>Engine & Power:
>Motorcycle: Generally larger engines, more powerful, and can be faster.
>Scooter: Usually have smaller engines (e.g., 50-250cc), are less powerful, and are designed for efficiency rather than high performance.
>Wheels & Tires:
>Motorcycle: Tends to have larger wheels and tires, which offer better stability over bumps and rough roads.
>Scooter: Often have smaller wheels and are less stable on poor roads, making them better suited for smooth urban environments.
>Intended Use & Handling:
>Motorcycle: Suited for a wider range of riding, including high-speed commuting, touring, and aggressive cornering.
>Scooter: Ideal for casual urban commuting, navigating tight spaces, and providing a simpler, more comfortable riding experience.

Instead of getting your dumbfuck internet chatbot to tell you a bunch of shit that is wrong which you can't figure out because you're even dumber than a dumbfuck internet chatbot, if you knew literally anything about what you're talking about you could have just told him that a scooter has an unsprung drivetrain which is absolute shit for anything but manufacturing cost and freeing up space in the middle of the bike.

Sounds like a motorcycle to me, bro. A German shepherd and chihuahua are two different breeds for different reasons, but they are still dogs.

The governor on these bikes involves a zip tie on the throttle spring and cutting back the throttle limit screw. Everything else will spell disaster.

I can tell, some indian 125 shitbikes keep getting brought up
>>

Great little bikes, I had something similar that I'd commute to school on as a kid on back roads and trails in my little town. Police didn't care as long as you stayed off the highway and 3 major streets that had 45mph+ limits. When I say I commuted on it as a kid, I mean from like 13 all the way through the first half of college.

They're super reliable, if your engine blows honda sells compatible engines that have a billion guides on youtube for retrofitting. You can also find guides for rigging your own random engines to it, as long as you can find a way to mount it with some hardware or a visit to a machine shop.

A few things:
The carburetor needs flushing if you let it sit for over a few months. That was never a problem for me, but many friends had these, and seafoam isn't doing shit. You may need to replace the carb every few hundred or thousand hours, but I never needed to replace mine.

The clutch needs replacing only if you rig the bike up beyond it's build quality. Do what you said and cut the governor screw. The zip tie thing makes the throttle feel like shit and you'll only get another few mph out of it. Most importantly is to keep the bike under 5100 rpm, get an aftermarket digital tach that hooks to the engine and just place it somewhere in view. My bike would get 27mph with just the governor screw cut back and sit just under 5100 rpm wrapped out.

The stock tires are shit and you need to do some modification if you want to change the tire size, but there are a small handful of tires you can find that will fit stock, even if it's slightly smaller.

Change the oil every 15 hours. For me this was a weekly chore I got used to, I used this bike for everything as a kid. For most colemans you should be using 15w30 or thicker, especially in the summer. I used 15w30 in mine and bought it by the 5 gallon jug, and just replaced the oil every week.

Replace the air filter every month or two. This depends on your air quality.

I always used 89 octane in mine, but anything over 87 should work in theory.

Check and keep that drive chain lubed like you're about to shove it up your ass.

Your best mods will be the governor thing and a torque converter. After that, I wouldn't bother fucking with it much. Some people get theirs to go 40+mph, it will be a squirrely piece of shit with any tires you put on it at that speed.

Otherwise, while being maintenance heavy, all of it is super easy and this bike will last you for years to come. I eventually sold mine with somewhere around 1500 hours on it in total. Some things needed replacing, but it was all very easy to do. I ended up selling it after getting my motorcycle license, but this was a great learner bike to get started on, and made the msf course a breeze. I would gladly get a new one because it's so nostalgic for me, but I'm just not in the market for one right now.
>>
>>28596539
Oh I almost forgot, these will climb hills reasonably with a torque converter, and stock they will clim "hills" that you need to get over when doing mild offroading. These are great offroad, especially in flat terrain, but ground clearance becomes an issue where water and rocks are a concern.

>>28596753
In the EU you can drive 125cc bikes with a car license. To get a 250cc+ bike license you need to go back to driving school and pass a new practical exam.
>>
>>28596758
no you cant
>>
>>28596539
I'd spend the extra money on a used klx110, crf125, or similar kid's dirt bike. Things that are trivial for even a very small dirtbike will be enormous challenges for a pit bike with no suspension. You can't stand on the pegs on that thing without wanting to tip over because they're forward placed on a sheet metal frame. Your balls will smack every time you hit even the lightest washboard roads that you wouldn't even feel on a small dirtbike. A true "point and go anywhere" bike would be like the klx110rl that special forces uses.

You‘re half-right.
(1) having a B license automatically gives you AM (50cc) aswell
(2) if you‘re at least 25y/o and have had your B license for 5yrs you can do a quick and dirty 700€ course to get the B196 addon added to your license. 4hrs theory, 5hrs practice, no test, just an endorsement from your driving school required.

Killing yourself shouldn't be this convoluted. You should be able to turn yourself into a statistic quickly and easily. I think 2 half-day classes introducing you to motorcycle controls is more than enough for you to buy a 100hp bike and operate on the road.
