>The applications, all filed in the European Union, cover five possible new models. The smallest is the “RW125,” followed by the “RW155,” “RW250,” “RW350,” and finally the “RW700.”
>But what does RW mean? That’s still a mystery, but one that we can make some logical guesses about. The “R” in the name points toward road or race-replica styling—we can be certain these aren’t going to be Ténéré-style adventure bikes, and the trademark applications come not long after Yamaha also filed paperwork for the names “RZ250″ and “RZ350″ in Japan. RZ was previously used on models including the RZ350 and RZ500 two-strokes, which were marketed in Europe as RD models. So could the RW machines be retro-styled sport machines harking back to those two-strokes?

>>
>>28718716
No.
The TL1000S/TL1000R has a really stupid 'slipper clutch' design, which is more accurately a back-torque limiting clutch.
Cam lobes decrease pressure on the clutch pack when torque is fed to it from the rear wheel allowing slippage of the clutch and limiting skidding/chattering on heavy downshifts.
Unfortunately, this means that even in a lever-fully-out scenario, the clutch pack is not actually under full clutch spring compression, so as you release the clutch this cam puts more pressure on the clutch plates proportional to the load from the engine at a given lever position, increasing the pressure to stop slipping under acceleration.

Quite a few TLS/R owners actually welded these cams to kill this effect at the expense of having to be more careful with downshifting.

KLR bro question

for 2K, I can buy an older 2008 KLR that's been well taken care of, it has 16K miles on it and apparently burns no oil (his word, idk if it's true)

if I spend like 5K extra I could get a brand new gen 3 KLR with like 6 miles on it.

considering it's a KLR, is it even worth thinking about? if I'm spending extra money, is it better to just get a better bike at that point?

It’s going to be a daily, I know DRZ is top heavy but obviously more powerful, and KLX feels for like a dirt bike for technical mastery.

AUS. Blessed with the E model. New KLX with Enduro suspension and ground clearance is out. It really is power vs. handling, out of the box. Probably gunna go yellow.

KLX is in fact, $2000 cheaper.

>For example, a 1985 RZ350 with a weight of around 162 kg (357 lbs) and a power output of 52 hp would have a power-to-weight ratio of approximately 3.1 kg/hp

>The Yamaha R7 has a power-to-weight ratio of approximately 0.398 kg/hp. This is calculated by dividing its wet weight of 188 kg by its power output of about 73.4 hp, resulting in a ratio of 188/73.4hp approximately 2.56 kg/hp

Looking at getting either a trackslut (2012 Yamaha R1 or 2014 Honda CBR1000), or an adv/tourer (2016 Multistrada or 2012 BMW F800GS) to do a cannonballrun-esque race across a somewhat long country that is home to a people I don't like very much.

Well, part of the reason was going to attempt to film TWIST OF THE WRIST 3: ABANDONED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN ON MY MOTORCYCLE- WAIT ITS WINTER was also to explore the other 10% beyond what is normally taken for granted
Plus it was a nonfictional love story between a noob learning how to ride and the friends we met along the way of the KAPLAN AMERICAS COAST TO COAST NEW VEGAS TENDIE RUN
the trauma kits, parole officers, and all that stuff- all of it was supposed to educate new dewbwetees and show them the way of the wrist
But idk if ill ever manage to pull of a superburgermeet and travel coast to coast from kaplan americas shop as the begin and las vegas as the final destination where we all get a big autism group photo and call each other feds
I swear it was gonna be a real good time once we finally pinned a date to it, and we would all film it amateur hour like some sort of mid 90s skateboard jackass kino and btfo all zoomlettes with our superior tastes in filmography
But whats dead never dies, and im a real life mc 1%er LONE WOLF with no club and no lawyer now, the timeline shifted too hard into dantes inferno of globohomo jannoids and sneesing limits that i might just never be able to make my directors cut special exclusive edition dreams come true

Oh man what a story

>a 350cc Yamaha twin against 750cc triples and fours in the 1972 Daytona 200
>His TR3 had the smallest displacement for a winner in event history,

>In 1969 Yvon Duhamel riding a Yamaha TD3 rode a lap on the speedway oval (which at the time was used for qualifying) to become the first rider to lap the oval on a motorcycle in under one minute (average speed over 150 mph).[11] Duhamel's pole position on the tiny 350cc Yamaha motorcycle against the larger 750cc four-strokes marked the beginning of the two-stroke era in AMA road racing competitions.[11] Don Emde became the first competitor to win the Daytona 200 on a two stroke motorcycle when he won the 1972 event riding a Yamaha TR3.[12] His victory marked the beginning of thirteen consecutive Yamaha victories at the Daytona 200 including nine consecutive victories by the dominant Yamaha TZ750.[13]

Apparently there is a Tracer 9 GT near me for sale for 12K. I've heard this is a very, very good deal.

I don't know anything about the tracer series. Other than the 9 uses the CP3 and is the ultimate dad bike. Should I take it? I'd like a touring bike but idk if that's the kind of thing I need.

Yes.
>>
>>28719713
Dang, is it that good? I know it's the advdad brother to the MT-09 but not much else
>>
>>28719721
It is a great bike if everything is ok with it, maybe the seller wants a new Y-AMT version or maybe he's too scared of it IDK.
No reasons not get it
>>
>>28719727
Apparently he was 85 and hit the point of selling his motorcycles.

The stealership has it used, 2K miles. Zero scuffs, a few scrapes on the baggies where it was put in a garage and not used for a while, heard it run.

I'm looking for something touring but also something that can do a little bit of dirt, not much, not single-track, but gravel and occasional fire road. Someone said 'get a tenny' but then this came up.

I have a 22 and I like it. It's plenty fast up to 120mph. With the suspension In sport mode I can drag the pegs on back roads no problem. I've been told it's the most sporty out of the middle weight sport tortures, which checks out considering its got the MT09/YZF-R9 engine. It gets me home in the rain when I feel like crap or I just worked out at the gym.

Probably the only real complaints I had are seat and windscreen, the first things I replaced. Not everyone can get past the looks, I think it looks good from most angles. Pic related is probably its worst angle in the looks department. I actually think all tall sport tortures look kinda funny anyway.

I've contemplated stepping up to a S1000XR but I have trouble justifying it. The Tracer is a bike that's rally easy to live with and dose everything well. Its a great "one bike garage" type of bike if that helps.

how do people get their front wheel up so easily? i can only pop it up in first gear but some people (even on eg. klr650s) look like they can just lift it up no matter how fast they're going
>>

Are you clutching up? Shifting weight back?
>>
Test rode a new Indian 101 Scout today, holy shit that motor actually rips. For the price, the bike overall isn't that appealing but Indian might have been onto something with that new SpeedPlus engine.

That's a glowing review if I've seen one. I'm on the fence about a lightweight ADV and a middleweight ADV and then this thing fell into my lap and I'm on the fence about pulling teh trigger on it. I don't have much experience with sport tourers

If you are never going to go off road or at worst catch the rare gravel road a few times a year, sport-tourers are where it's at. Otherwise get a ADV.

I've been practicing getting the front tire up on my 501 a lot but so far it doesn't seem like I can get it up high enough. I'm happy enough to be able to use it for clearing obstacles, but doing it confidently on demand is a must and I still need lots of practice I guess

>3 out of 5 aliexpress parts for my bike turnet out to be shit
>2 were damagaed to a degree that the paint had come off
>bores were done so shitty that screws didn't fit
>nuts/bolts missing
>steel rods for axle crash pads were too long so people had to cut them in order to fit them

man if it wasnt so easy to just return their shit and get my money back id never order there again.
its like nobody at aliexpress ever wonders if party xyz actually fits a certain bike or not, they just think anything that fits onto a cb500 will automatically fit every other honda with a cb in the name.

It took me a lot of dedicated practice to get comfortable with balance point and rear brake (and a few loops).
I’m still not super comfortable doing them standing.

I'd love being able to do a wheelie but I simply can't justify risking my bike doing it.
Maybe when I'm better at riding or have a chance to try it on a small and more agile cross bike.

I hear you just save up and buy a cheapo bike if you want to practice. You can also learn the feel of balance point and brake control on a pedal bike. The skills won’t exactly transfer but you’ll have a huge head start

go to a grocery store and ask if they have any
or maybe a cafe
i know when out early before cafes open up the milk trucks will drop 1-2 of these at their door so you could probably ask them if you can take it instead of them just chucking it out.
but sometimes they get deliveries at the back so you could skulk around the back of cafes looking for some.
also you can just buy them for $20 but it feels stupid to buy something that just gets tossed by the thousand every day all over the place.

we're talking about a clutch cable cover, which is 2 pieces of stamped aluminium.
only difference is that the UK brand import (china to uk to me) is twice as expensive as the direct import from china to me.

unless my stamped metal parts and molded plastics get imbued with performance enhancing bonger magics by the ghost of HER MAJESTY herself if I re-import these items via the UK, i will always buy simple shit directly from the source in china.
