However all of this is 10x easier with a vacuum bleeder off a compressor instead of pumping. Still try the tiny squeezes to unwedge the air stuck in the lever piston

One very old way to keep those pouches from sagging is insert contents into a section of PVC pipe that fits inside. That can contain your tool roll etc very conveniently. To my surprise the copper wire is under some sort of clear plastic insulator on the copper itself.
