The Torrance DMV motorcycle course. I've never done it before (I did the CSMP course). But I had to come to the DMV to get the registration paid up on my 4 door and while I had some time to kill I did the slalom and the loop a few times. Really not that hard.

Okay dbt, serious question can I get tips for changing my oil? I have two harleys having become a fat fuck dick sucking graybeard. I have a nice mc table jack and I've changed the oil in all manner of my cagers all my life but oddly never my motorcycles. I'm guessing put it on the table jack, run it a little to warm it up and everything else should follow but I figured I'd get tips and tricks. I'm a little crippled and getting on the ground is hard af these days and mainly I want to understand if using the table jack is a real benefit or if I should just do it on the kickstand.
>>
I want to get into motorcycles but I live in an apartment in a big city. Where do you park the bike in such cases?
>>
>>28881585
>>28881594
>>28881630
I know. I sat in the station and filled out the report last night, but the cops here don't care and I live in a big city. The bike is gone. Insurance probably won't give me much since it's a 25 year old bike and their calculated ach is bound to be disconnected from reality.
>>28881938
I wish.

>>28881950
Pirsig is an idiot and that book isn't actually about motorcycles, it just uses them as an allegory to explain the Taoist enlightenment he claims to have had after experiencing a period of psychosis.
>>
>>28881996
in the apartment
or garage
or paid space
or storage area
this isn't hard anon a bike is easier than a vehicle, check with your apartment first then local pay to park garages nearby, research and understand street parking, evaluate area safety. you just have to do the fucking research for your area
>>
>>28882002
hope you dont' have state farm. regardless fight them, do research on what it actually takes to get a replacement bike of year make model and argue inconvenience as well. don't forget add ons like bags or bars. insurance companies are not your friend don't just take the first check. also yeah no way you're getting the bike back, even if they find it it's totalled.
>>
>>28882005
>this isn't hard anon a bike is easier than a vehicle
Are you kidding me? I was paying 30€ a year for resident badge and was leaving my car at the street with no issues for many years. But for the motorcycle I have zero clue. Majority of underground parking lots are double-decked lifts which don't allow motorcycles. How am I supposed to get it into my apartment on the 4th floor?
There are motorcycles parked at a house down the street, but maybe it's only the space for the residents of that house? Basically the only way is to leave them a note and ask about parking there.
>>
>>28881986
if you're crippled and old yeah get a jack and do it that way. it's pretty easy to just pop the drain plug and hold the bike straight in my opinion, but i am also a yung buck. i'm also just busting your balls. if i had a nice jack i'd use a nice jack but i don't want to cough up the money for a nice jack.

i handle car insurance claims for a major American carrier and can give you advice.
name of the game is -
- the guy actually handling your claim does not give a fuck how much you are paid, it is not his money
- he only cares about being able to justify value of the bike to his QC process/audit/boss/whoever
if you can show him proof that your bike is worth more than they offer, they should meet it. Ideally you should have an idea for what it costs to replace your bike same model/year/condition/miles, you should have some links to these bikes for sale in your back pocket, and you should have a good reason why your bike is better than whatever bike you're showing him is for sale.
>this one's $5500, but of course my bike (was a higher trim, was in better condition, had x y & z accessory)

if they really try to fuck you, lowballing such that you can't replace the bike with what they paid, file a complaint with your state's insurance commission. If

This book is about anything but motorcycles.
At first it seems like a book about traveling on a bike, then it ends like your average shizo thread.
At some point he's wondering what is "quality", and he can't answer it, maybe because he was a certified shizo or maybe because he was riding a Honda and not Yamaha.

>I want to understand if using the table jack is a real benefit or if I should just do it on the kickstand.
If you have a table jack then use the table jack (duh) but don't use your kickstand because the bike must be level, not tilted. If you must use a bike stand then use the centre stand, not the kick stand.

And always remember that changing gears is a distraction that could lead to death.

After reading your predicament I've decided to get a GPS tracking device (like Apple AirTag) so I can find my bike if it ever gets stolen because the police won't do shit and insurance won't pay shit so I'd find the stolen bike myself and stab the thief a few times with my large hunting knife.

Holy shit anon was right! Changing gears really is a distraction that could lead to death.

For example: >>28881754
>going too fast on a rural road i didn't know with music playing, shifted to wrong gear so looked down at shifter and didn't see the really tight turn coming up ahead and was too afraid to yank the fuck out of the wheel and potentially spin out so understeered off road and hit a speed sign

Gear heads get dead.
Twist & go steals the show.

i picked up this 2015 WR250R. 7k miles. there was some cosmetic shit on it but it runs fine. i managed to talk the guy down 500$.
it looks like the guy left it out in the elements.
bike has water on it because i unloaded it in the rain last night, so it's just rain on the tank.

it has this IMS gas tank and the surface is spiderwebbed. it's just on the surface but it looks pretty bad. maybe i'll try sanding it or something to see if i can knock the cracks out. standing around the bike it kind of smells like gas so i'm going to look around and see if any seals are messed up. there's no check valve in the vent tube.

the real question is the subframe. the frame itself is aluminum so it's fine but the subframe is steel and has this surface rust all over it. a lot of the bolts all over the bike have rusted caps. what do i do about this rust (or do i do anything)?

I was thinking i unbolt it from the bike, sand the rusty parts to bare metal, then prime + spray paint with a similar enough color.

other than that, i'm changing the oil + filter, air filter, brake fluid + brake lines, coolant.

everything else looks pretty ok.

Youre welcome. I used Hot Mods GPT. The prompt:

>"Transform this harbor scooter scene into a cinematic neo-urban night setting. Shift lighting to blue hour with deep cool tones. Add subtle teal and magenta neon reflections on the white scooter, including a soft cyan underglow beneath it. Enhance city skyline lights with warm glowing windows and atmospheric haze. Simulate slightly wet ground with soft reflections under the scooter. Add realistic water reflections from city lights. Apply cinematic teal and orange color grading, with sharp focus on the scooter and slight vignette."

Might be able to get rid of my Moto Guzzi this sunday, finally I'll bee free from the curse of unreliable bikes and can focus solely on my Soviet machines.

Have any of you tried any of those new D3O Ghost armor inserts or any of its clones yet?
I just got a new RS Taichi hoodie that looks basically like a regular hoodie, but it's made of Cordura and has pocket slots for the armor. The free pads that came with it, despite being much thinner than average CE2 yellow pads, are still pretty thick and kind of annoying to wear
to the point that I wouldn't want to have them on while going into the shopping mall.
But then getting a full set of those reactive slim armor pads will cost more than the goddamn jacket itself.

Moot was apart of the epstien organization, Pol was orchestrated to distort the schizoid side of the masses.
>4chan was ran by epstien
>Maxwell was one of the highest redditkarma moderators on her personal account
>Zuckerberg frequently attended dinners and gatherings with epstien. Meaning all of META is compromised
>Elon owns Twitter/x and attempted to attend the "wildest parties" at the island, meaning he'd do anything to appease the ghouls he worships

Every single mainstream platform is corrupted and the radical views majority of people have was bestowed onto them as a way to prevent unifying against the epstien organization (which isn't bound to a flag or border, an indivdual entity that sells information to the highest bidder, extortion, black mail, human trafficking, sex slavery, and pdf chomo shit.

If you're radicalized in any way, doesn't matter where on the Pol spectrum: those views aren't yours, they were planted by most likely a hired 3rd worlder to distort your reality testing. To the point of siding with your own abuser (trump zealots are perfect example of this)
>>
>>28883089
>Moot was apart of the epstien organization
Ok, that I didn't know. Other than that everthing is old news. I used to think Elon was cool. Then Epstien files came out. I was so wrong. I also thought Trump will not start a war. Boy was I wrong on that.

Are you the anon that posted your floor with the fresh coat when you finished it a few days ago? That looks nice. How slippery is it when there's water? I rented a place with a floor coated just like that once, and iirc traction was great, except on invisible water puddles.
>>
>>28883099
This very place, is where poison flows.
We are all downstream of the river of disinformation, lies, and intentionally misleading half-truths all done to rewrite history and alter shallow perspectives.

Qanon for example, intentionally done to make talking about the epstien organization comedic and unserious
Aryan sentiment for example, intentionally done to assign a fictional mustache twirling dune koon in the middle of nowhere as a red herring to throw everyone off the scent in their own backyard
Islamic apologia, as a way to normalize child brides.
Weaponized nostalgia, to give people fantasies of a world that never exited as ideally as they assume to cope with the horrfying state of the world instead of unifying together to repair the damages

It's ghouls versus humans now, not blue versus red. America (and honestly the rest of the 1st world) has some serious house keeping work needing to be done if we wish to strive for a better tomorrow. For everyone. Not just one group or class. The epstien organization wants petty differences and infinite infighting because it's far easier to control a divided world than it is a unified one.
>You're not ____ enough
>Oh you're ____ stfu
>etc
It's all by design. It's all intentional.
>>
>>28883101
Epstien idealized moot, claiming he was a "bright young mind" within a few email chains.

Their relationship is very much intertwined. Epstien alluded to Pol directly. It was one of his systematic weapons to monopolize opinions of information. Simply buy a few troll farms with bundles of thirdies and you can make people fall in love with their rapist just because there's 100,000 fake-people gas lighting you into the contrary.

If you're locked in a room with 100 other people for 100 days and they all genuinely believe the sky is orange and shame you for thinking the sky is blue. You'll begin to question yourself and may even be broken into believing the sky is orange not blue. Despite your reality testing being good enough to know that the sky is actually blue.
>>
>>28883110
It's all so fucked up. Other countries are prosecuting their citizens when found in the files, we are protecting ours.
>>
I miss when the conspiracy posting was ironic.
I think the common 4chan redpill narrative is very wrong. Speculation without evidence is one thing, it turns to delusion when you start to believe the speculation and then you grow further delusions based on the premise of the original false belief spiralling into schizophrenia aka pol.

i think this is probably a rare occurrence because i havent seen anything similar
for me the types of crashes that can occur on the road warrant electronically firing airbags
for instance, when my only low side i stayed with the bike the whole time. a friend of mine low sided on a trip we were on, and he stayed with the bike the whole time until the bike hit the curb, and then he hit the bike.
had he had a tethered airbag (at the time this was pre airbag adoption) would it have gone off? would it have gone off for me? i dont know, but i worried about that scenario, so i chose electronic.
if im struck from behind will a tethered airbag go off and support my neck and prevent me from getting whiplash? i dont know, but i know my electronic airbag did. so im happy with my choice
>>
>>28882213
If you want a real opinion buy one of the the pre 2009 carbureted Bonnevilles.
I'm biased since I think the old Thruxton is the most beautiful bikes of all time, bar the Norton Commando, and I still find it more fun than the R1 I just bought for track use.
If you have your heart set on it and it's been modded to not look tacky as shit then go for it. Post a pic of the marketplace post.

So I took my dad's v-rod muscle to a harley dealer near me
they dont want buy my bike outright but rather have me trading it with other bikes that roughly around the same price
so what are some harley that I might want, one that is around the same price range as a used v-rod?
>>
>>28883212
They're gonna give you a shitter bike because vrods will appreciate and the hoards of baggers will fall off a cliff once Creed is unpopular.
They won't give you cash because they'll make more money off you trading and flipping the vrod.

Food for thought. Don't care what you do, just know if you walk into a dealer expecting to come out on top then you're in for a rude awakening akin to a gambling addict learning that the house always wins.
>>
>>28883230
I mean i just went in for service mostly but I was just sitting down with the owner, i told him i might want to sell it if he want to take it off my hand, which he pitch me with the trade-in
If i were to sell it I rather swap to ADV or weeb bikes
but just asking if there any harley that might be a good options
also why is used PanAM so cheap?
>>
>>28883212
Keep the V. The only other thing they make worth a damn is the Lowrider S and you won’t be trading into one of those.
>>
>>28883233
Harley is struggling to break into the market
The bike is really good (ive been looking to buy one myself, loved it on test rides and at events) but stereotypical harley buyers dont want it
the buyer for a full sized ADV bike is an urban professional, for the most part, and these people are often unwilling to associate with the harley brand, which is declasse middle american. they stick with the ducati, bmw, etc without even evaluating the harley.
I think Harley's only choice, at this point, though, is to stick it out. I really hope this bike and the revolution max engine in general stick around because they are really fantastic.

Why would you trade an Harley icon for a shitty new one? Just keep it or sell it IMO
>>
>>28883212
They definitely do not have your best interests in mind. No dealer ever will when it comes to trade-ins. Dealers are only slightly less scummy than pawn shops in this regard.

Very lovely pan am. Don't ruin your bike by painting it stupid colours.

I'm not that old yet but I'll be there eventually and it'll feel like a few months passed. When I have kids, I just know they're going to grow up way too fast.

I always keep big Bertha on the trickle charger but it still ended up needing a battery after two and half years.

Getting a new 125cc today and it says to not ride at prolonged periods of time at more than 1/3rd throttle during the first 500km. What kind of wording is this? 1/3 throttle at first gets me to like 5k rpm. And how the fuck am I supposed to keep up with traffic, even as a non American, at 1/3d throttle?

You can either listen to them for a break in period or ring it out like an itallian stallion
Up 2 u bros

Or just commute eternally in high gewr for 500kms
>>
>>28883863
With my commute that'll be in 70 days... And then I graduate to being able to use 1/2 throttle for the remaining 500km of the break in period...

>notice intake boot not fully seated
>fix it

>>
>>28883868
Don't break in your bike by commuting, the heat cycling without extensive mileage is bad for break in, find yourself a good day where you can ride all day before actually using the bike for commute. What you do is ride at 0-33% throttle and rpm for 500km with occasional bursts up to 50%, after that do another 500km 0-50% throttle with bursts to 75%, change oil, warm up the bike properly, go 50% rpm in gear 1, then go full stallion 100% wot in gear 2 to redline then redline gear 3

Bike women are way fucking hotter in full, form-fitting leathers.
I'll never understand what gooner-zoomers have with dumb sluts in yoga pants and half a shirt on two wheels. It just screams the bike equivalent to pavement princesses.

>>
>>28884138
i mean you really have to ask yourself if you are going to ride off-road at all (the answer is it doesnt matter, you can ride to starbucks in dirt bikes all you want)
still if you are buying 2k KLR then its probably some clapped out older one (it probably still run fine cause these thing can run forever)
but hope you are not a wrenchlet cause you probably will have to fix something
at least I guess you arent buying chinese
so you can at least sell it and swap to something else when you realized if that aint the bike
