redpill me on supercub bikes
>>28884215the perfect /o/tist bike, it's cheap, sl/o/w, and cute
Another comfy day for riding
Filled up this morning and cost me 20$ Guess I'll try and sell more feet pics tonight to support my hobbies
>>28884215You can go anywhere on a Cubexcept from the dealership since Honda discontinued them in the US for poor sales (no one is paying $5k for a Super Cub)
>>28884188in the unlikely event i get pulled over, should i be worried about having a regular license and not a motorcycle specific license?
if I want to take suzuki pillwhere do I start?
>>28884215crazy expensive for a 125 because nostalgia.the ones in north america are a pain in the ass to set up for a pillion.also the north american ones have ugly angular turn signals honda stole off a much more modern looking bike I assume to meet minimum turn signal separation. seen here>>28884264I look at the east asian honda websites and everything about those cubs just seems better than the ones we get here.
>>28884284Depends where you are.
>>28884215>>28884287pic rel, thai version. comes stock with pillion seat and foot pegs, cuter turn signals and an adjusted msrp of $2,730. no wonder nobody in america bought them
>>28884284I rode for 25 years without having a license, just showed my regular car license when stopped by cops. Never had a problem, but this was in American red states where the cops don't care what non-methed out white people do.
>>28884292I always loved the pillion pegs being on the swingarm. Keeps your passenger on their toes.
>pillion on a 125Surely you'd be faster on a tandem bicycle?
>>28884296>I rode for 25 years without having a license,I dont think you did.
>>28884303Back in the good old days when I was 16 and had an Aprilia RS125, I was riding with ny then gf on the backseat doing 160kmh on the highway. Also managed to seize the engine and it was like -15°C outside.
>>28884303I've seen a TZR 50 (prob juiced up with 90cc) take off like a rocket with two teens on it
>>28884292>msrp of $2,730. no wonder nobody in america bought themBetween the high prices and need for higher speed/acceleration on US roads the math on choosing a scooter over a moyorcycle is just bad in the US. Not to mention the ease of theft, which makes owning a scooter risky in the one US environment where they are actually a practical choice.
>>28884303would you believe they used to put them on a 50?
>>28884305OK.
>>28884310TBF that grill probably weight 100lbs even. But I had a 1959 pushrod cub in college and it would run all day at an honest 50mph and 35-40-ish with a reasonably sized passenger. >>28884309$2730 in Thailand, not the US
I'm a newb getting license, can you tell me something about Suzuki Vstrom DL650 pls? I like how it looks and Im sure I will love riding it, but how it is seen among other riders? Inb4 gayest motorcycle ever
>>28884305I did that by accident. When I turned of age I got a motorcycle license *only* which I could do as it's a separate license class in California, not an endorsement. Years later the CA DMV decided to treat it as an endorsement and require a car license first. People like me who had an MC only license got converted to a car-only license in the ensuing confusion. So I was riding on a car-only for some amount of time... I only learned of this when I noticed a no-license surcharge on my insurance. SOOOO I got to do that damned tests again.Since then someone sued the DMV and forced them to follow the law. You can get an MC only license again in California. So end the end I took the MC tests twice and never took the car tests but I have a car license as well.BTW when it was MC only I drove cars and got pulled over plenty of times, dumb cops never noticed. Never got caught without the MC license on a bike tho.
Will i be "safer" riding a dual sport on cold, barely above or just under freezing temperatures compared to a normal road bike?
>>28884324'Stroms are great, what you taking about
>>28884264I prefer the Trail Cub and Monkey, they're cuter.
How come no one waves at scooters?
>>28884324Wee strom is fine, nobody gives a fuck what any one else rides as long as it’s not a scooter
>>28884326Nah, cold tires are cold whether they are street or trail. ABS is nice to have with cold tires tho.
I really wanted one of these as a kid, but my broke ass couldn't afford them nor did I have a license back then.Nowadays all the 125cc ones are gone and there's only the occasional 50cc available.
>>28884331>nobody gives a fuck what any one else rides as long as it’s not a scooterYou'd get a forever nickname among your colleagues of ronald mcdonald or simply a clown if you'd pull on acid green ninja 400 to the office job.
>>28884338>Oh no my limp dicked office coworkers are talking shit like a bunch of asian women in a hair salon, better bend to their opinions instead of doing what I want to do, I'm sure when I'm on my deathbed I'll be thinking of their little nickname for me

>>28884348 No, he's right. Fuck coworker drama. If you're competent and reliable then avoiding work cliques and being your own person is all you need.
>>28884335A 160cc underbone with manual shifting would be a pretty neat toy.
>>28884338I don’t know where you guys find these people who are so socially stunted that they’re giving mean nicknames, I’ve never encountered this in my life
>>28884149i am a wrenchlord and do engine swaps in the woods, but i havent touched a bike really. i wanted something i could take on long trips, take up a few trails, and had lots of support. there were other cheap bikes but when i asked about them here, most of them were shit, my friend and my grandfather bought 883 sportsters and they just fall apart constantly. $2k is about the floor for running usable bike market so im pulling the trigger now, there are more than a few available at this price, this is just the newest one, 23k miles
>Suzuki SV7GX costs 9k euro cause it's muh new, even though it's just SV650 with fairing and euro 5+ engine>meanwhile Honda CB750 costs 8k euro despite having 20 more hp
>>28884387>soulful V Twin>imposter 270 degree ptwin I know which I would choose

What is /o/‘s opinion on Triumph?Everything I see online is that it’s pretty reliable but not Jap reliable and pretty (looks), good (average quality).
A Northern UK vtuber made an offhand comment regarding CN motorcycles, and it stuck with me. >The middle managers of sedans, the ones like Toyotas, Hondas... It's so easy to be replaced by the likes of Hyundai and Kia. And that's exactly what the Chinese bikes are doing.Leaving aside price, because I understand money is tight these days, and leaving aside if the CN manufacters are on the same level as the KR Chaebols, this is a fascinating analogy. Not that Kla Kia or a Hyundai is terrible, but past 100k miles, I didn't think most people equated a Honda or a Toyota to a Kia in terms of reliability, or parts breakage.UK bros, what's the average mileage you guys put on a car each year? How many years before your cars hit the 100k and 200k marks, respectively? I'm wondering if this isn't a difference in hours spent on the highway between how US and UK/EU people approach vehicles.
>>28884469What vtuber?
>>28884372The Madass did come as a 160cc at one point, with a 4 speed manual transmission. They have a clutch too.I've seen one 160cc madass myself, but they're incredibly rare over here because ain't no one going to pay A2 motorcycle money and insurance for a souped up A1/125 bike. A lot of kids just put big bore kits on the 125 ones to make them more or less 160cc and didn't tell the officials about it.
Every video ive ever seen on 125cc bikes its always "this is a great bike for beginner or teen riders". Why is this a thing ? Is it an American thing since 125cc bikes are basically useless because of the speed requirements? It's so much more fun to zoom around in a 125cc than a 1000cc about 95% of the time. I admit that the remaining 5% of the time (when I'm riding on the freeway) is less fun on a 125cc. Ive tried all kinds of bikes, but for my country where we barely ever have speeds above 60 a 125 is so much more fun

>>28884284Do you think you can get a meaningful answer without saying where you are?
>>28884309>need for higher speed/acceleration on US roadsI actually accelerate just fine. You're definitely not doing highway speeds because the wind is really bad and people are going 90. But I take florida state roads with 65mph limits no problem. And I accelerate to 35 faster than most cars, then keep up well enough up to 55. It honestly works well for any intracity travel. I can even go orlando-daytona on "back" roads, but I wouldn't want to do it often. The only problem really is the $6000 price tag OTD.
>>28884537Fast throttle response, easy to fix. Plenty of mods and improvements. Cheap if you crash.

>>28885525That's strange. The same engine is used in F800R, F800S/ST and F800GS, and god knows where. In fact it's an austrian Rotax 804 engine, who also produces aircraft engines. BMW most certainly has used ECU from Bosch to control it, and it's simply the best ECU manufacturer in the world. How common is the issue? I'll spend some time asking Chatgpt about it.
>>28885669>>28885653also google suggests the F800s got throttle valves which are adjustment screws so maybe just set up the idle a little bit higher?

VFR woke up today. Started immediately and idle and ran perfectly. Third year of ownership with no carb adjustment or sync necessary. Definitely the best bike ever made
was supposed to go on a date today and she cancelled last minute, citing that she was streaming on twitch too much last night and didn't get any sleepsent her "k" and blocked her on everything, went out riding instead
>>28885835This bike turns 30 in August btw, I'm probably throwing it a party
>>28885088Based on your story it's obviously not the carb. That wouldn't start out good and then go bad halfway through a ride. You should check the charging system. The battery is most likely not charging because the reg/rec or wiring is fucked up.

>>28886295I meant stuff like armored shirts with a regular jacket on over the top and such instead of the normal stuff. I'm getting tired of my normal armored moto jacket.
>>28884330They don't wave back. There's several scoots in my area, I used to wave and they never returned it, or waved back like a little kids saying bye. I don't wave to them anymore. >>28886245My armored rev'it is the most stylish thing I own. I think it looks really cool. Kind of lame on the picture, but I like how it looks on me, despite being fat.
>>28884330Might be regional. People waved at me all the on the 'cub around north of Orlando. No one waves at me around Daytona.
>>28885028I used to do that with the one I had by accident, just forget to shift down at a stop and take off slow and not even realize it. I miss that bike, but my situation only allows for one, so I traded it towards my current Z900RS.
>>28886245I have a whole closet of stuff. But I really like wearing pic related most of the time, I got it 50% off on close out. Looks way darker in person and its AA rated too. I also have its mesh cousin in bright blue I wear in the summer.

There's zero reason to ever buy a scooter when an e-bike (or even normal bicycle) lets you filter, spilt, get your own lane, and park off the street for like half the price of a scooter.>>28884562Which sucks because there's tons of times where just going down the intersate for an exit saves so much time than taking the normal roads.
