start saving up for when the little one starts walking and then running. you'll need something with good AF ... or you will have to shoot burst and fish out 20% keepers.
making this hardmode is that many of those images will be shot indoor in your home. where I suppose you don't have harsh and bright lighting. so you will need fast shutter speeds and wider apertures and high iso to get useful photos out of it. but then again shooting wide open means lesser depth of field means more missed focus. so yeah.
toddler photography is probably the most demanding thing on this planet when it comes to equipment. I can't imagine anything else where the conditions are so stacked against you. :0
when my kid started walking I had a Z6II ... which couldn't keep up with him most of the time. now he's 4yo and I have a Zf and it's much better. his movements are way more predictable and the current gen Nikon AF manages to track him properly. but the Z6II was hopelessly outgunned.
enjoy the baby phase with your gx9 - it's a fine cam for when you don't need action shots. but start saving for an OM1 or G9II ... should be less expensive a few years down the road.
>>
>>4469499
Yeah, excellent lens indeed! I switched to the Panasonic Leica 25mm for the faster focus motor, but it should be plenty in your case.

Hi, can you guys help me? I'm trying to understand what makes the colors in these photos appealing. Is it the saturation, the yellow light from the Sun, or something else? Thanks

don't know about film but in digital you can underexpose to get more saturation without it becoming garish.
>>
>>4469379
thats not how it works. exposure doesnt change colors, just noise. your raw editor has a bug.
>>
>>4469385
A change of exposure influences the colours. Look at your histogram.

lol lmao, no one shot professionally kodak gold and no one ever pushed color negative stock
It was shot on a slide film definitely most likely kodachrome. Slide film had much better color accuracy and could be quickly edited on the fly before printing for ads or magazines

have an upvote sir
monochrome would be fine as a low/mid priced toy. ironically dedicated monochrome cams are worse at black and white than just converting to bw in post. because you're missing the color channels you can't selectively adjust each color's luminosity in the result. only thing you're gaining is more resolution but then again - what for? do you really want to see every skin pore and pimple in high res? hell most fags even use bloom filters nowadays to tone down resolution. so yeah. monochrome is perfect for leica fags who want to larp.

Sigma's B&W is almost comparable with Leica's monochrome sensors. Pentax shit is lame and worse

I was considering a Foveon
I’m basically looking at alternatives to CFAs
I wasn’t heaps keen on any Sigma ILCs but the Merrill series seemed interesting
the K-3 III mono seems appealing because it’s sharper and better at collecting light than cameras with CFAs
I don’t find the high price tag heaps appealing though

Do whatever works until you can afford a real macro lens. Both extension tubes and reversing the lens will be using the optics in an unintended way, only macro lenses produce acceptable images close up. Working distance doesn't really matter with film all that much, f/5.6 is fine for film but you should just look up the lens and use it at its sharpest aperture (most likely f/5.6).

Holy hell those fuckers get greedy. This GX8 has its forward dial missing yet MPB says "it's ok, just buy it goy".

Private used market (classifieds, ebay) doesnt look much better. they want hundreds of Euros for essentially trash. all the Lumix GX9 around here are like 800 euros. WTF dudes. many times classifieds are even more expensive than MPB (where you get 12months of warranty lol)

and dont get me started on fuji prices lol. i'm not even looking anymore at those anymore.

fucking camera market I swear. you write the seller and ask them for a proper price and they block you because "only sincere offers" then you look and their shitty 10yo cam is still listed as unsold months later because who's going to spend 1k on a shitty 10yo m43 cam with a kit lens lol?

Never once felt the urge to buy on Calumet, MPB or the small store here in the city.
Those prices are insane. Their selling point is the warranty and knowing that they won't steal your money.
Feels gud seeing them selling the older Fuji X100s for the peak hype price still because they bought them overpriced themselves. Sit on it fags.

Just wait Anon.
Good stuff comes up from time to time.

Just thought about the Panasonic LX100 II. A camera that came out in mid 2018.. a compact micro four thirds with a fixed zoom lens costing $1000 new back then, still selling for not that much less now, a camera that Leica rebranded and sold for $200 extra a couple of months later which they a year ago updated with Leica menus and button layout, upped the evf and screen resolution a tiny bit and added a USB-C port which they now charge $1915 for.. it did at one point cost $2790 when Leica tried cashing in on the tariff speculations. Before the latest digicam craze you could find used LX100 IIs for way less than the current going rate.. so yeah.. the market in general is a bit messed up at the moment. I snagged a LX100 II for roughly $300 in the local classifieds recently and it feels like a steal, but it isn't really. It is a camera with lots of compromises and a Leica D-Lux 8 for $1915 is a massive waste of money.

Both are almost certainly captured using soft focus lenses. A soft focus lens doesn't blur the entire image it overlays a sharp image with one that has spherical aberration to produce a soft glow.

It's interesting how the street photographer not only treats the invasion of personal space as a given, but almost as a virtue in itself. It should be no surprise that it primarily attracts provocative cowards who can only post-rationalize their shutter bursts once they're out of arms reach.

Notice how their replies and defences usually boil down to childish indignation and disbelief - how they even feel "violated" that others don't see it their way, followed by the hypocritical mewling about "rights" that they themselves were never willing to respect.

I haven't used my 28mm prime very often. Every time I try it again, I end up preferring something much wider or narrower. However, when I adapt the lens to my M43 video camera, my focal reducer's crop factor of 1.28 makes the FOV closer to 35mm.

Have you ever gotten a strong emotional response after viewing a specific phot, like you would in a movie ? Or maybe going to an exhibition or reading a book ? Or is photography just "pretty cool" at best ?
Pic related is the first response I got when searching " best art photography ever" online. While it's really good and impressive, I can't really say it makes me feel anything in my gut.

Post pics that make you feel something, inspiring photographers/books etc.

> To me your problem is the lack of punishments for bad behaviours.
Doesn't really work like that though. Some countries have very harsh punishment and low crime rate, high punishment high crime rate (see France with drugs), low punishment low crime rate and low punishment high crime rate. The harshness of punishment isn't correlated to the amount of crime commited.
Also you fail to take into account the fact that Paris is 2 times more populated then Taipei, plus all the tourists, Paris being one of the most visited cities in the world with London. It already attracts all kinds of people, but you also need to consider all the people who came to France because (one way or the other) of colonization. I think it's a small price to pay for all the atrocities France did for centuries.
Beyond that on the subject of stealing, it's mostly a cultural thing I think. People in Europe just consider that things left in the wild just belong to everyone. You just don't live things outside. Even if you go to some random village in the countryside with less then <1000hab. if you live your shit out it will get stolen. My headcanon is that a lot of people are just cleptomanic, even if they don't need the money they take it.
Also I visited Taipei a few months back and I found it really nice

How does /p/ feel about zines?

They seem fun. You print your stuff, distribute it however you want, and people look at it. They might toss it in the trash but at least you made an impression.

You can make them for pretty cheap. I made some lo-fi DIY-style ones with my visual art at home using just an inkjet printer, and I've been dropping them in random places for people to find.

Anyone ever make zines?

To address "no one will bother hacking cameras". People hack videogame consoles for Patreon donations, cf. Nintendo Switch emulation shitshow (similar idea btw, secret keys are supposed to ensure that you cannot pirate games). If there is even a small thing to gain from piracy (could be just another Jap company messing with a competitor), third worlders start working on it, while redditors cheer.
