It really was ambush making these threads good wasnt it?
>>4487958noI greatly enjoy seeing a bunch of non-perfect photos and common birds too, the web is already filled with great shots
>>4487967>i don't like real photographyyou came to the right place

>>4487971This isn't a thread for photography it's a thread for bird posting and discussion. This may be a photography board but every thread doesn't have to be about photography.
Insta threadWill follow anyone>horgen_fotoHad anyone got tips on how to find less popular content? The algorithm is just feeding me terrible tiktok reels with millions of views all day long.
>>4487337they are 3d printed gems that i made (i sculpted them in VR). not sure what flavor of autism that is. Thanks.
>>4487375they re resin right? fdm would quite suck for that i swear
>>4487387>they re resin right? fdm would quite suck for that i swearYeah the gems in the screenshot are clear / translucent resin. Amazing what you can get in current year.I do 95% of my 3d prints on FDM machines but for gems i go with the resin :)
>>4484714yes that was me, did I hurt your fee fees?

Does anyone use GIMP for photo editing and manipulation? Has it become a "photographer's program" yet, or is it still clunky and freetarded?
I like GIMP it doesn't shit up your computer with sidecar files or updaters running in the background. I find because it's "destructive" it actually runs faster; as I scroll around a high-res image it's not falling over itself trying to render 50 layers of edits in the resolution I've just zoomed to; essentially a bitmap of the whole image is sitting in your ram ready to go (or at least that's what I assume, i'm not a /g/tard).Make a duplicate layer of the base image, everything can be masked or blended or screened as much as you like.8-bit doesn't bother me as I'm only editing already converted raws that are mostly fine for exposure and wb.If you're a slider-babby you'll struggle, but if you understand what the sliders are actually doing you can just make them yourself. If you just want to slap a pre-set on a catalogue of images and export them for an event or whatever, use something made for that, but for single image editing it's goated.
Photographers don't really edit their photos anymore, they just fuck with sliders and AI. It's not even photoshop that GIMP has to compete with, it's shit like lightroom and topaz.>>4480811Now that's a name I have not heard in a long time. Is that still around?
>>4481367What is this? Somekind of edge detection algo run on a high entropy image? ig a splash of water or just the surface of turbulent water, i am probably wrong.
>>4487887Nta. Looks like one of the inbuilt G'MIC effects you can apply in GIMP (and other GNOOO software). They're mostly memes but you can get some neat effects.
At this point Lightroom/PS combo is the only thing stopping me from ditching Windows. I'd love to see an actually good alternative that does everything those two apps do, but there isn't one.
I shoot black and whit 'art' photos.I print a lot. So i spend a lot of time looking at the details of each photo. especially if they're hanging on my wall.that being said, i have a conundrum which, surprisingly, isn't well covered on the internet:>would you say a leica monochrom, or a medium format (with more bits and more sensor real estate) would produce better black and white images?
>>4487908Pot. Kettle. Zone 0.

>>4487913Yep, silly me. I totally forgot. Somday I'll stop being such fucking scum. Alas, today is not that day.

>>4411869>tfw you fell for the film meme
based kodak saving us from filmflationfuck alaris
>>4487718Film isn't a meme. Filmfags are meme.Film is an interesting and unique approach to photography that you can't get with digital, and treating it as such can be a nice experience.Being a delusional faggot about "muh film is three billion megapickles" and failing to see the massive convenience of digital is the meme.
>>4487875This. Film is good. Liking film is good. Other people liking film sucks, those fucking hipster douches. It’s only good when I do it, everybody else is stupid. …*those* hipster douches.
Took this photo with my Lumix DMC-FX8, default settings, auto. The screen is unfortunately now broken, so I can't use it anymore since I don't think I can replace the screen. I haven't had a friend since I was 12 and everyone has forgotten me. Also the text says "You are loved."
>>4484992Søte bror, hvorfor har du ikke hatt venner siden du var 12?
whack composition
>>4486596Everyone just sort of drifted apart after middle school, I never managed to make any friends in both high school and college everyone was already too tight knit, I guess I have just forgotten how to make friends honestly.
>>4487035Pray for Friends, anon
>>4487035Then photography is perfect for you. You can look forward to spending all your time and money researching and flipping gear, and end up taking pictures of buildings, trees, backs of peoples heads, and rant nonstop to yourself about how all the degenerate commie jews have outsmarted you to the success you’re entitled to as a glorious capitalist of a superior race. Welcome.

Spent two hours at the local book market today. Reached the place a little while before sunset, pushed through my anxiety and tried my hand at taking some photographs.Feel free to post any pictures you /p/ros took at any book fair or local market in your area.

>>4487841>why not add urdu to all that stuff?System is too corrupt, inept and broken for any major reforms. This is peak 3rd world lmao. In a way its cool tho, at least a decent chunk of people can communicate in english, makes working and learning easier.
this was the absolute peak of digital photography and its all been downhill after here. seriously look at the shots on flickr with this tag and how good they look. mirrorless is super sterile and fake looking, and older than the mkii just were shit to use and had too much noise. seriously dont sleep on these, 5d mkii and some EF L glass has u covered and then u can spend the rest of the money on travel and taking kino shots.
>>4487813>>can track a Russian Kinzhal missile at Mach 5Not sure why you keep posting this but the autofocus is literally slower than an EOS 1n. Everytime you post a photo from this camera people tell you your shits out of focus. God damn this nigger is retarded

Laughing gull editionLast thread >>4467818
>>4487719Yeah these shots are way better, the subject is in focus and the exposure is closer to what it should be. And regarding the background, some lenses have poor rendition of out-of-focus areas(nervous bokeh). Increasing the aperture even more might work but the dof looks quite tight already. Good job in any case. What software do you use for postprocessing?
Heron
The same heron.
>>4487746>What software do you use for postprocessingNothing at all, I haven't changed the settings on my d3400 and import the photos direct into my computer. I'll keep an eye out for bokeh since I also have an issue with pictures being blurry from hand shakes
lemme see your shots for the moon!this is mine btw captured with canon 2000d 55mm i can not remember my camera settingsi gave it some edit with lightroom this is first time with DSLR

>>4486254As a recent graduating filmfag, I'm starting to believe film is the endgame.A shame that the hardware is all aging out and there will come a time where all you can buy is cheap PnS's or chinesium instant film bodies.
the last 6 or 7 years. i decided i needed to figure out how to take photos of my sculptures and other art to document them myself. adter a while the photos became just as much as the work as the subjects i had made. i’m 42.
Haven't posted in a couple of months but got a few rolls developed recently and I'm slowly going through scanning them.Exif: Leica M3 + Nokton 50mm f.1.5 + Vision3 250D (for the first seven ones), then Aerocolor IV for the remaining four.

tried taking some festive photos and most of them turned out like shiti think i overestimated how slow shutter speeds at iso 400 really are, i need some of that cinestill 800t for indoors methinks
>>4487658Just push B&W if you're going to a Christmas market. Cinestill 800T isn't even meant to be rated at 800, it's just to astroturf zoomers who don't compensate metering for high contrast scenes e.g. gas stations at night

Three sciences about light that'll help you understand: The science of photons, electromagnetic radiation, and bosonsTwo technical concepts that'll help you understand how your camera works: How computers work, how chemistry works, and how the mechanics work in a camera. (Anon here like what the fuck computers? Yes anon your digital camera is a damn computer like a smartphone is a damn computer. Hell even in some cases a calculator can be a computer. And the next what the fuck statement is about film photography which is indeed chemistry.)Last thing is knowing how all the programming and placement of the camera functionality is in your camera. Such as knowing what the hell C4k is in a Panasonic GH5 for example. You do all this you would know your camera like a mechanic knows a car. Congratulations you are a step ahead in being a photographer or cinematographer. The most important part about all of this is the hardest part which is does it make sense to you like any other art form?
>>4480588No. I'll tell you what this is like. When the video game Crash Bandicot came out, the developer knew the PS1 so much he put a hack on the game to allow the game to use more data than it should. From doing that, Crash Bandicot had higher resolution graphics than a lot of games on the PS1. The same thing can happen with a camera. Say you know what am EF mount is. You being the common consumer would (I hate doing this NeoNazi speak but I have to to sell my point on this site) have to go to Jew BHPhoto on this site and Jew Amazon to buy new lenses. So now instead of buying from Jews you can buy a cheap lens from a Japanese guy on eBay (Jannies I tried speaking his language). Now imagine the same with lights. You don't want to buy all this expensive equipment when you know from how light works a few cheap high output lights will do. You know from reading the light meter on your phone at daylight there is enough light under a shade for a photo.
New info: light summed up is a quantum function like quarks and leptons.
>>4477837hi, I've learned this statement by heart, internalised the knowledge and took a picture. It looks like shit.
