Should I wait for WG-8 or get TG-7 right now?
>>
>>4334595
That's up to you.
>>
Go big or go home.

Seriously if you're just shooting underwater, for the price of one of those you can buy one of these Ikelite housings and an older DSLR (D700 and D800 here) and comprehensively annihilate both in image quality.

The only drawback is, you can't be a bitch and you have to be able to carry it out of the water.

I'm not saying they're bad cameras, because they are not. If you want something pocketable and bulletproof those are the two options right now. The TG-7 has almost DSLR image quality someone posted a thread here a while back taken with one and they were nice.

If you just wanna do underwater photos, the Ikelite is where it's at. Be sure to re-seal it if you get one, it's not a hard job, a fat autistic trucker did all three in this image.
>>
>>4334618
Is that a nikonos
>>
>>4334623

It is, and I serviced the shutter mechanism, the rubber seals and the seals on the lenses. It's a Nikonos II with a 15/2.8, 28/3.5 and 35/2.5, great little camera. The 15 is so wide in the water it's basically scale focus as is the 28. The 35 is the same 35 the Nikon rangefinders used at the time, just in a different housing but optically the same.

I found it with the 35 in an antique shop in rural Alabama while broke down in my truck and it probably would have stayed there had I not found it.
>>
>>4334618
holy fucking nigger shit why does this board allow total retards like you to shit up a thread in a matter of minutes?
>>
4334661

Because it makes no-photos like you seethe.
>>
>>4334608
I thought someone on this board had experience with underwater cameras.
>>
>>4334736
Sorry I don't leave my room, let alone go near bodies of water
>>
>>4334736

I do.

If you're going for a compact for underwater though, it better be one of those. The cheaper ones are made for vacationing tourists who will use it once and forget about it, although I wished they would put the sensor and lens from the TG-7 into the TG-870 for the flippy screen. A lot of the cheaper ones have shit IQ and shit controls
>>
>>4334745
I use WG-6. The image quality is shit but tge controls are ok.
>>
>TG but with full manual controls
The genuinely perfect camera
>>
>>4334834
I never got why Full PASM is banned from waterproof cameras
The only full-manual waterproof camera is the Nikon 1 AW1
>>
>>4334618
>>4334627
Why do Niggors make the most dogshit posts on this board. Do you really, genuinely believe that someone shopping for a TG7 would just opt for a full size DSLR and underwater housing plus lenses. Are you that retarded or are you actually proud of all this e-waste you own?
>>
>>4334846
post a photograph faggot
>>
>>4334850
A photo of your shit gear =/= posting a photo
You still owe the thread five or six GOOD pictures to compensate us for having to bear witness your retardation
>>
>>4334853
why are you talking to me like i'm the tripfag?

Hear me out, trolling aside.

I was originally a compact underwater shooter I had a TG-860 that quit working a week after the warranty was up. I went to a Canon S50 in a housing that was awesome, then Fuji WP that was pretty nice. Then I went to a 20D in an Ikelite housing and said fuck it I'm getting a housing for my main squeeze which is a D800.

Had I known then what I know now, I would have gone straight to the D800/Ikelite combo. Everything else is a compromise.

pretty sure opee is just going to the beach with his friends and has no interest in putting an already large dlSAAR in a larger plastic bubble, tripfag cargo shorts commander. even the housing for a smaller ff/apsc is huge.

they are all basically the fucking same but the olympussy has aperture priority mode and i don't see it anywhere on the pentax

Also forgot to add once you're in the water they are almost neutrally buoyant, at least mine are. They will still sink but it takes forever.

nothing about these photos screams Nikon D800. could have been taken with any digishit
>>
>>4335059
yeah but he is a retarded gearfag so he must CONSOOOOM
>>
>>4335059
At iso 1600 he has the snr of a 1” sensor digishit at base ISO

the digishit would actually do worse. Dont say equivalence, he’s shooting at f4 lol. Even mft sometimes struggles to reach f4 equivalent, let alone with good optical quality because an ff lens will be stopped down more.

So as far as technical qualities go, these SHOULD be superior. The problem is you don’t notice because the photography itself is not very good and he seems to be using a lens that’s been dropped and left in a hot truck cabin too many times. So with anyone else not using self CLAd thrift store junk these would be awesome.

You're talking about one of the biggest unjustifiable braggarts and gearfags on the board, what do you expect? Sugar never matured, this is who he is. He needs constant validation from children. If he hasn't told you yet allow me: He's the physically strongest ex athlete and most intelligent person on the board with the largest range of skillsets and life experiences. He's seen and done it all and is practically James Bond.

I think there is no question what to do. The timr has vome to make the difficult decision. It's with courage we decide on these pressing matters. So, the outcome is beneficial rather than deletarious.

Both are tough small sensor P&S cameras which means compromise for convenience. Get the one you need when you need it. If you can wait, maybe you do not need either one.

I myself have AW-100 and it has not aged well. Still, no regrets.

They're both the exact same camera that each company has been making for at least a decade now. Don't buy either, buy an older secondhand version of whichever you prefer.
Most people using these professionally prefer the Olympus, its macro function is incredible, and it has a range of functional accessories should you require actual flashes, etc.
Get a TG4, 5 or 6. Literally same sensor, lense, etc.
