> [AJPW] Miyahara Kento makes 3rd Triple Crown defense! Fierce encouragement for Anzai Yuma after a major battle: "Give up being a 'hope'! You are a star"

> At All Japan Pro Wrestling's December 31st Yoyogi event, Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Miyahara Kento (36) defeated Anzai Yuma (26), successfully making his 3rd defense.

> He did not allow a "generational change." Miyahara appeared in new gold-based gear. Following a sequence where both men targeted each other's knee pads, he was hit with a "stolen" Shutdown Suplex by Anzai. Although he managed to escape at a count of 2, he was in a dire situation as he continued to absorb jumping knees.

> Even so, Miyahara did not allow the Gimlet. When Anzai targeted the knee again, Miyahara dodged and secured a waist lock from behind. He spiked his resilient opponent with the "original" Shutdown Suplex Hold to secure the three count.

> Taking the mic after the match, Miyahara made a grand declaration to the fallen Anzai: "All Japan Pro Wrestling's hope, Anzai Yuma, this is reality. Let me teach you once more. Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Miyahara Kento is quite strong." He then acknowledged his ability and encouraged a future challenge: "As of today, give up being All Japan's 'hope.' You are a star. Let's fight for this belt again, Star-san."

> Furthermore, Miyahara announced that his 4th defense would be an openweight match at the January 25th Makuhari Messe event. Finally, he asked the crowd, "All Japan Pro Wrestling, is 2025 the best?" and after drawing a response, he closed out the 2025 King's Road mat by saying, "All Japan Pro Wrestling is the best."

> [AJPW] Dragongate's Kato Yoshiki & ISHIN seize Asia Tag titles! Battle for challenge rights among AJPW Juniors begins

> At All Japan Pro Wrestling's Yoyogi event on the 31st, the Dragon Gate duo of Kato Yoshiki (29) and ISHIN (28) defeated MUSASHI (35) and Yoshioka Seiki (37) to become the 128th champions.

> The two members of the villainous Dragon Gate unit "Gadjadouro" declared their challenge at the Korakuen event on the 10th, leading to today’s title match. Kato & ISHIN engaged in various misdeeds, including low blows and interference from their stablemate KAI. However, ISHIN fell into a crisis when MUSASHI countered with a low blow of his own.

> However, showing quick wit, Kato crashed Yoshioka into MUSASHI's back. MUSASHI, mistaking him for Kato, kicked Yoshioka in the groin, causing the champion team to be divided. Kato fired a powerful lariat at MUSASHI and finally secured the three count with the Cadere Luna (a modified facebuster from a wrist-clutch Argentine backbreaker).

> Boos erupted from the crowd toward the triumphant Gadjadouro. At this point, Aoyagi Atsuki and Rising HAYATO entered the ring. When they directly requested a challenge, ISHIN refused, saying, "From tomorrow, we're going to travel all over Asia to make money. We can't accept a challenge from tiny little guys from a small island country with no track record."

> In response, Atsuki proposed a tag tournament or league for All Japan Junior wrestlers, where the winning team would earn the right to challenge Kato & ISHIN. ISHIN, receiving intense stares from the All Japan Junior contingent gathered in the ring, accepted while grumbling. "Until your winner is decided, we'll keep having title defenses in Asia and Dragon Gate. Look forward to it, idiots," he said before leaving the ring.

For reference this is the first singles match Anzai has lost to Miyahara. So it let Kento get one win over him and I'm sure Kento will drop to someone else like Honda to start building up some other people.
>>
>>19589555
I'd rather it be a year of Anzai overcoming guys like Jun and Go to win another shot and take the belt from MIyahara on the second try, then him being the one to drop it to Honda. Anzai proving himself as the generation's ace, Honda proving himself as a guy who can beat the generation's ace.

Put the title on Kitamura already! That seemed to be the story they were going with most of the year... until the goofy cowboy came back and they swerved. Kitamura is the heel NOAH needs, OZAWA is too kooky, Sugiura is too old, Fujita is too lazy, KENTA is washed, and... that's all they have.

I'd say he's too broken but NOAH put it on Muta, so anything is possible. I think Naito is closer to Ibushi in terms of mobility right now, so keep him in midcard tag matches. At least Muta had star power still, Naito was getting crickets after his entrance. Was depressing to watch.

The safe thing would be to let Bushi and Ryusei do most of the heavy lifting and let Naito work light but we'll see what actually happens

Looking at Kenoh's livestream he did after the show pretty much every comment was people shitting on Naito and comparing it to when NOAH brought in Ibushi

Breaking up the title defenses across three shows is a bit bold but I do think Ayabe/Talos vs Xyon/Odyssey should be pretty good and I'm open minded about Kurama vs Atsuki in the next show. >[NOAH] Naito Tetsuya captures belt in Japan for first time in 8 months; "Reflecting on failing to adjust my condition is a bigger takeaway"

>NOAH's GHC Tag Champion Naito Tetsuya (43) revealed his "regrets" regarding his first appearance on a domestic mat in about 8 months.

>Naito participated in NOAH’s January 1st Nippon Budokan event as BUSHI’s partner "X". Although his identity was obvious before the event, when he actually appeared, a thunderous "Naito call" erupted in the arena. In the match, they secured a victory over the team of Marufuji Naomichi & Kenoh, becoming the 76th GHC Tag Champions.

>In May of last year, he left New Japan Pro-Wrestling along with BUSHI and formed "Los Tranquilos de Japon (LTJ)". Since their activities were mainly overseas, this was actually his first time stepping into a Japanese ring in about 8 months.

>Because Naito has work in the Kansai region on the 2nd, he rushed to Osaka after the event. Responding to a phone interview late at night after moving, he looked back: "I think people weren't used to the new entrance theme ('EL COMIENZO'), but even so, I was incredibly happy to hear that big 'Naito call'. None of the organizations I appeared in overseas are large, so the scale of the venue and the number of customers are different, and I was very nervous."

>On the other hand, he confessed to feeling a bit of ring rust, saying: "It's not like I've been wrestling constantly since I left. Wrestling today made me realize once again how important it was to have done over 100 matches a year during my New Japan days."

>Also, while revealing there were many parts he wasn't satisfied with regarding his physical condition, including weight gain: "Normally, a professional is supposed to adjust perfectly for this, but today I keenly felt something like a blank period. In that regard, I felt BUSHI had adjusted well, so I felt he was reliable at the same time," he said, stating his reflections.
>>
>>19598962
>Regarding the future, it is undecided, but he suggested continued participation: "Since we've taken the belts, the day will likely come when I step into the NOAH ring again as a champion." He revealed his determination for the next fight: "After all, the reflection of not being able to adjust my condition is bigger than the joy of taking the belts or the joy of receiving cheers at Nippon Budokan. I think how I use this experience is important."

>Even so, since his identity was so obvious, why did he insist on "X" until the day of the show...? Naito explained his true intent: "Of course I knew the answer was obvious. I think if it said Naito Tetsuya (would participate), it would have been exciting in its own way at that time. But by keeping it as X, I thought people could enjoy the LTJ topic by wondering 'Is it Naito?' or 'Is it not Naito?' until the day of. I think it was the X everyone expected, but when I heard the cheers during the entrance, I thought 'I'm glad I called myself X'."

>He also shared an episode about reuniting with his student Takahashi Hiromu, who was also participating in the event: "The locker rooms were separate, but he must have been happy too. He kept coming to our locker room and disappearing, coming and disappearing many times. However, the time the three of us spent together was very nostalgic and fun."

>Although challenges remain, there is a strong possibility that the return of the ungovernable charisma to the domestic mat will revitalize the wrestling world. "Even so, isn't a phone interview too cheap for the start of the year? That's right, next time, let's combine a victory celebration and a New Year's party..." Just as Naito started saying this, unfortunately, the signal suddenly became poor and the call was cut off.

I'm not surprised by either. Go's been pretty happy since he's arrived to AJPW. I think he's just glad to be actively wrestling and away from the backstage drama at NOAH. Shota meanwhile has been getting tons of praise by the entire roster and I think it was Anzai who called him a little brother. I suspect Kurama might get signed too depending on how well he handles his trial period.

He beat his ex-girlfriend who was also a wrestler so bad she didn't wrestle again for years. It gets brought up occasionally like when Yano (now Kurama) and another NOAH young boy groped a woman NOAH fired them but NOAH keeps Ohara around because he's buddies with the NOAH higher ups.

>>
>>19600862
I'll agree with >>19601288 in that NOAH had the best overall matches, but the booking is mediocre.

DDT had the best cards and booking, pretty much every big show had at least 3 good matches. Suzuki getting a lengthy reign as a sinister veteran was solid and Ueno's rise was excellent. Higuchi was a beast, it was so rewarding to see him demolish Brookes.

AJPW started strong (Ashino vs Anzai was my favorite match of January) but they fell asleep after that. Champion Carnival stunk, and the reign of Saito was abysmal. They turned it around by late summer during the Oudou tournament with HAVOC, serious Miyahara and eventually Shiozaki. They still baffle me with their complete disinterest in booking, Hideki, Ashino and Naoya Nomura as anything more than just midcard filler.

DragonGate had been hard carried by YAMATO and Shun Skywalker last year, it's nice to see more people added to the mix. Gajadokuro could be good... with stronger booking, but Kikuta's reign has been solid.

Freedoms, BJPW, Tenryu, Basara, Zero1, Ganbare, and super indies like Fortune Dream, Takayamania, Kakuto Tanteidan had a few great matches here and there but too inconsistent to follow longterm.

The usual suspects are awesome, wherever they show up. Guys like Hikaru Sato, Fuminori Abe, Ishikawa, Towa Iwasaki, Jun Kasai, Masato Tanaka, Kengo, Koji Iwamoto, Ryota Nakatsu, Mizuki Watase, Keita Yano, etc.
>>
>>19601537
I think that Dragongate has been carried by more than just YAMATO & Shun
>Homare: 21 years, debuts september 2024. Now in 2026 he's already been a finalist in the Brave Gate title tournament, won Rey De Parejas with Shun Skywalker, main evented shows against non-DG talent like LiJ. Him being a key part of Skywalkers new unit shows that DG is betting on Homare to be a key player in their future.
>Multiman have been great with Natural Vibes & Love&Peace, now with Gajadokuro getting in there
>Jacky Kamei & RiiIta have taken over for Jason Lee & Minoura as the tag team having some of the best tag matches of the year
>YAMATO actively hurt the midcard Brave Gate division by not defending the title for 4 months before vacating it. Thankfully U-T stepped up and got his first singles title only to be defeated by Ryoya who easily looks like a future top player in the promotion
>Jiro Shinbashi coming in late as probably the next comedy draw after Ichikawa retired
I think what DG does best when compared t other puro promotions is to actually push their future talent when they're young instead of waiting until they are in their late 20s/early 30s like most promotions who want their talent to pay their dues as young boys for years before giving them any meaningful wins.
>>
I only watch New Japan and NOAH. If it doesn't have a streaming app and an English website, I can't be fucked to deal with it. Really not that much to ask I think.
>>
>>19601644
I meant that DG "had been" carried, as in the past. 2023 and most of 2024 were somewhat thin with only YAMATO and Shun firing on all cylinders. 2025 was an improvement with the diversification of talent as you mentioned.

DG bet big on younger talent and it's really paying off. Comparatively, the other feds largely ignored their junior talent and it's led to disaster. AJPW had such a thin roster they realized Anzai, Honda, Saito bros, Ayabe and others need to be built out of urgency. NOAH start/stops their younger focus with guys like Kiyomiya being the next big thing... seemingly year after year. NJPW seems to actively despise their juniors, giving them either nothing or too much all at once. The Reiwa Muskateers being the worst of the worst myopic booking, and everyone else getting the shaft.
>>
>>19601650
>streaming app and an English website
Just use Chrome + Chromecast. It's easy.
>>
>>19601695
NTA i think overall except NJPW most of promotions, from NOAH to DDT is focusing, or trying to, on their younger talent and even if some did some missteps (kaito's booking), their aces and champions have a strong image.
I like NJPW don't get me wrong, on paper the roster is great and they have the money to back them up, sponsors, merch and other things that keep fans hooked, stuff that other promotions don't have for obvious reasons.
>>
>>19602122
>most of promotions, from NOAH to DDT is focusing , or trying to, on their younger talent and even if some did some missteps
I mean Noah hasn't had a Jr champion under 34 since Dante Leon back in 2022. And for a Japanese wrestler you might have to go back to Daisuke Harada back in 2019. Idk to me it just seems that in Noah (with exception to the GHC heavyweight weirdly enough) you have to be 35+ to get a title reign unless you are a foreigner like Alpha Wolf & Dragon Bane or Galeno

It's true, every company... even those with razor-thin rosters and micro budgets are trying to build younger talent, while NJPW seems to be petrified to forge a new generation. They have FAR more resources in terms of salary, training, foreign excursion partners, etc. They just don't care.

Hell, even BJPW has put the belt on < 34 year olds like Yuya Aoki, So Daimonji, Daich Hashimoto, Hideyoshi Kamitani, Yusaku Ito, Yuki Ishikawa, etc. Yuya Aoki had a 500+ day reign and he's not even 30 yet.

...and that's Big Japan! Their budget consists of a bowl of ramen and a free band-aid

>>19602309
I was talking about heavyweights. Juniors in NOAH have been a waste of time since Marufuji, Kenta, Sugiura and others graduated to heavyweight. When they made the National title it put the final nail in the coffin.

It's actually shocking that the best match on the 1/1 show was the junior match. It's been at least 20 years since the juniors stole a show.

Some people in my country say "who has teeth has no bread, and who has bread has no teeth".
NJPW is not a small indie company, so the problem lies in the management. Wrestlers themselves might not have much input in what they want to do or even say post-match or interviews.
>>19602309
Might be sound stupid asking this, but the Jr. category is about weight (under 100kg) or or also age? Because I personally don't have problem when someone older is in the Jr. category if he fits the criteria. I get that weight a lot of time is sketchy because promotions can lie about their guys weight, just to place them in the HW category

I'm holding hope Ashino having the Gaora title is building him up to go for the Triple Crown down the road. AJPW needs a stronger midcard and I'm hoping they book the Gaora belt to lean to Ashino's strengths to help with that. I think guys like Sekimoto and Suzuki are good challengers and it may make sense to drop to another guy you want to build up like Omori.
>>
No mask KURAMA
>>
I noticed Nomura didn't come out when AJPW showed who's signed and he isn't listed anywhere in the updated roster. So he did officially leave it seems. He's been hinting about wanting to wrestle Kaito so I see him going to NOAH. He'll be a solid guy for NOAH to pick up.
>>
>>19606911
it's a cool mask he should've kept it a while longer
>>
Just finished the 1/2 AJPW show. I'm really glad Titans of Calamity won. I was a little scared Xyon and Odyssey would win and they'd drop to the Saitos or something so I think this is a better result. I think the best route for Havoc now would be Shiozaki, Xyon, and Odyssey get the six man belts. It'd make all the titles have pretty serious contenders holding them. The Junior Tournament looks pretty good too. Seeing a Dragon Gate and Big Japan rep is pretty cool.
>>
>>19603261
nah the Jr. category is just about weight, but I think that older guys having held the title hostage for basically half a decade makes the NOAH Jr. division seem old fashioned. Where's the young Jr. wrestlers that going to carry the division in the future? When are they going to be given time to shine?

Do any of you guys archive full-length shows/matches? I've been streaming stuff for years, but I'm starting to get the itch to rip my favorite matches and store them locally or cloud storage. I figure a video downloader extension should probably do the trick.
The worst part of puro is that almost all the good historical shit is inaccessible on the official streaming sites because the TV stations apparently own the footage so you have to rely on random uploads to YouTube/DailyMotion/etc.

From what I understand Yano and Okada groped her. Okada left the wrestling world entirely. Yano apparently talked to the woman and officially apologized to her and she chose to accept the apology and not press charges. I don't blame NOAH for firing him but at the same time if Yano is willing to keep his nose clean from now on I don't really blame AJPW for making him run the young boy gauntlet for a year or two then use him themselves. Just finished the 1/3 AJPW show. Ashino vs Sekimoto was fun but I was a little surprised Sekimoto won it. Not sure what that means for Ashino because he didn't really do much with the belt. The main event I actually liked more than I was expecting. I thought it was cool Atsuki coaxed Yano out of the mask and got some ferocity out of him. I can see Yano being pretty good after his obligatory young boy jobber arc. I think we're about to enter a filler defense arc though with Kento going against Talos and Atsuki against Seigo. All of that said I thought this three show series was pretty solid for the most part. There's very little I have to complain about it.

>[AJPW] Yano Yasutaka, known as KURAMA, makes a fresh start as a trainee... Confesses the details of his return to the Japanese mat after his contract with NOAH was terminated

>Yano Yasutaka (25), also known as KURAMA, who revealed his true face at All Japan Pro Wrestling's Korakuen show on the 3rd, confessed the circumstances behind his return to the Japanese mat.

>On this day, Yano challenged World Junior Heavyweight Champion Aoyagi Atsuki as KURAMA, a mysterious wrestler from Mexico. In the middle of the match, he removed his mask and directly pleaded to make a fresh start as a trainee.

>Yano, who debuted with NOAH in 2020, had his contract termination announced by the promotion in June 2023 following suspicions of touching a woman in her 20s in Sendai City that April, and was arrested on suspicion of forcible indecency in October of the same year. A settlement was subsequently reached, and the case resulted in a non-prosecution disposition. Additionally, in August of that year, he traveled to Mexico and resumed his activities as the freelance pro wrestler player KURAMA.

>Responding to an interview, Yano explained his reason for continuing as a pro wrestler player after the incident, stating, "Since I ended up betraying people's trust, wouldn't it be easy to just run away? I thought it was important not to run away." He revealed that even during his more than two years living in Mexico, his thoughts were always on the Japanese mat, and upon receiving the offer for this match, he thought, "I felt this was a chance," leading to his firm decision to return home.

>Going forward, he is expected to make a fresh start as a trainee under his real name, Yano Yasutaka, and he flatly stated, "I have no lingering attachment to KURAMA." To the fans, he pledged to repay them, saying, "I can only say I'm truly sorry. But it’s no use just saying sorry forever, so I have no choice but to show it through pro wrestling."

First Ueno and now Higuchi, stop putting pants on your top players.
>>
>>19624501
Glad you made this post because it struck me recently coming back to watch puro after many years that nobody wears the big underwear anymore. Everyone now either wears long tights with generic colorful flashy lightning patterns or short tights in literally every promotion. Only guys I can think of that still do are Sekimoto and Suwama still carrying the classic big beefy heavyweight tradition but anyone that came up the last 10 years all go the flashy pants attire now. It comes to a point they all just blends together and no one really stands out.
>>
>>19624585
I was half joking because I know there are quite some people who love to look at them kek
But talking seriously, they both wore trunks since their debuts. Higuchi because his sumo roots and Ueno debuted going full young lion (going against Takagi's wishes) for quite some time before he picked white trunks.
I get your sentiment because now going strong style feels more peculiar than having a flashy gear, and I personally like trunks, but I can understand that after many years a wrestler want to change a bit (and in their case 9 and 11 years since their debuts).

Kento being a massive coward in front of Talos took me a little by surprise but it makes sense. He tends to freak out when he's in the ring with types like Talos or Odyssey. It might be a filler feud but I think it'll be interesting to see what Kento does to get the win.

Finally bought a Wrestle Universe machine. Apple TV is the best streaming device on the market, but it doesn't have a Wrestle Universe app. These Onn devices from Walmart are cheap, and very decent quality for the price. Way better than a Fire stick.

Several sites like cagematch, weekly pro, and purolove report the attendance numbers for the shows. It's a good practice to see if the scene is improving after the 2020 downturn.

Based on the numbers this year compared to last year, the promotions that focus on sports entertainment and fan interaction are improving while death matches are dwindling.

Since DDT is still not showing attendance numbers, there should be a number 15, which looks to be Active Advance Pro at 7,323.
>>
>>19634286
Don't think DDT will show them in the future if there is not a change of mind. CF has the numbers and Akito said they won't disclose because they don't want to ruin fans' enjoyment. Which to me means they know how much is discussed attendance numbers between fans as way to value each promotions etc
But if you follow DDT, even house shows, and not only the monthly big event, the venues looks packed if they are not sold out.

It's cool to see Kento tag with Go again and I think Go vs Suwama will probably be a fun match later in the year. I also won't be surprised if this leads to something with Nakajima. Seems too convenient Suwama is working with Nakajima and also feuding a bit with Go.

If I had to take a wild guess DDT does less than NOAH. Maybe comparable or a touch less than AJPW.
>>
>>19636854
Definitely floating around All Japan's numbers.
>>
>>19636854
Probably so, for sure less than NOAH but looking at this
>>19559339
DDT was 4th in number of events. I read comments (japanese) that were quite shocked by the number for AJPW. So I really don't know
>>19636818
Japense are as much as obsessed by numbers than people on here or twitter.
I get the reason because a lot of times discussions even in japan boils down to numbers instead of talking about the matches
