My dad has been working essentially the same job ever since I was born. I have no idea how he does it, waking up at 6am every day for 5 days a week, getting home at 5-6pm and going to sleep at 10pm. Maybe it not being an office job makes a big difference, but still.

Old game devs used to implement so many cool tricks to make their games run as smooth as possible on shitty hardware, now it's the complete opposite, they make the hardware do all the heavy lifting so that they can slack off and make a sloppy game that looks worse than games released a decade ago.

It's getting harder to think of multiplayer games that are worth playing, many of them are copies of each other (survivalslop as the main example), so if you play one of them you won't feel like playing the others, or at least that was my experience with them. there's a few, im sure there might be private servers for them but my whole gripe with it all is that people have just gotten so good at games by default
everyone plays things super efficiently or at a pretty high level, even when a game first comes out, and any of the games i liked have fallen victim to that i'm sure
runescape is probably one example of that, i used to like playing that but its very expensive now and it's just too old too have any sort of whimsy left
there was another game about 8 years ago or so i had fun with where you could make a little airship anyway you wanted and go exploring with other people, i think you could fight people too but im sure it was probably optional
i think the servers shut down because it had like 3 cosmetic microtransactions that no one bought anyway, so it was too expensive
there's others but i wont get into it much, i just hate efficiency and want to just sort of flail around in games with others in hopes that no one will ever really figure anything out

I really hate this. There was a game I wanted to try the other day but it had some sort of pseudo-pvp mechanics in it that ruined the experience for me. It was still in closed beta and people already knew everything about the game and were making the most broken builds possible. It really kills the fun.

I want to learn to program but whenever I try I end up forgetting about it a week later and get nowhere and learn nothing and then i feel like shit whenever i'm not learning it but i procrastinate and never have the motivation to learn it
I literally have no real hobbies that are actually productive, this is the only thing I can think of that interests me but i still can't, it feels too daunting
I'll never be able to learn anything. i just want to find a reason to keep on going because sitting around on 4chan all day is draining the life out of me...

it's much easier to learn programming when you do it by doing fun little projects.
i like calculators, so i started making a financial one in python. it made me learn lots of things, like text parsing, symbolic math libraries, dictionaries, i even put in some ai stuff so the calculator could recognize simple math problems from text!
just find something you like and try working on it. simple games like tic-tac-toe and the nokia snake game are good options to start with.
and remember, don't just look up how to do these projects step-by-step. try making them by yourself reading docs, search stack overflow, etc.
