Honestly it bothers me how stupid the average football fan is. It just shows how much of the population shouldn't be allowed to vote. For years people wanted football to be more fair, first goal-line technology and then VAR. Every over sport which has video replay technology works exactly like VAR. Formula one for example. If the car even slightly goes off track limits their time is deleted. In tennis it's the same as you can see in the picture. So why are people never complaining about this? The person is either on side or off side, you only believe that there should be more nuance in VAR because the decision has gone against you. If VAR worked in your favour, you would be celebrating it. Sadly people who dislike VAR have a big voice.
>>142221274var was introduced for clear and obvious errors, not a player being 1mm offside
football is for low class scum, who consider diving, theatrics, cheating in general as an integral part of the game, they even admire players for bring crafty in those aspects.so when tech nerds come along and take away that part of the game they feel violated by ppl who "dont understand the game"
>>142221334Do you think your post got repeating digits just now too then or what, you fucking moron?
>>142221274Nobody cares enough to rig Tennis. For F1, the point is NOT to rig. The entire reason car manufactures even play around with it is to get engineering data in a realistic environment. However, for football, it DOES get rigged for narratives and commercial purposes. VAR was introduced because obvious errors were making the rigging too obvious. It was designed with rules precisely formulated to allow for continued rigging. Instead of every call being reviewed automatically all the time and all offsides and line calls being instantly automated, it's all just hand wavey.>Oh the ref didn't see it, and VAR thought it wasn't obvious>Oh the ref saw it, and got it wrong and the VAR is only for things the ref didn't see>Oh the ref didn't see it, got it right, but VAR thought the ref should take another look>Oh the ref didn't see it, and VAR didn't have the right camera angle>Oh the ref didn't see it, but it's a second yellow card offense so VAR can't look at it>Oh the ref didn't see it, and VAR saw it but it was too far back>Oh the ref saw it, and VAR saw it, but VAR miscommunicated with the ref and now it's too late to fix it>Oh the ref didn't see it, and VAR saw it but they misplaced the offsides lineThat's 95% of VAR action. You know it's rigged because VAR works just fine in low stakes games in non-PGMOL games. As for why fans don't care about it, is because 99% of fans just parrot pundits and pundits are controlled by the same commercial interests that rig the system in the first place so the pundits and therefore the fans are only allowed 2 positions:>VAR ruined football>VAR is great just don't bother drawing lines and shit it takes too long let the ref do what he wants
>>142221274complete midwit nonsense>>142221674complete retard nonsenseodd thread
>>142221334>let me tell you why offside was introducedrules are rules, everyone has to follow them
>>142221334retard
>>142222712Rules are there to serve a purpose. If the rules don't function like intended, they should be changed.
>>142221334If they were clear and obvious, you wouldn't need VAR
In the two instances you provided, it’s a small penalty for being out. In football, it’s usually disallowing a goal that would have won the match. The punishment is far too harsh for being 1mm out of position.
>>142221274>Every other sport>Formula one for exampleyou invalidated your entire argument right there
>>142222962Literally just don't go offside bro
>itt: some retards are arguing that some illegal goals should be allowed because they are not THAT illegalHow far offsides should they be allowed, like 1m or 30cm or 5cm or 2mm? How much is obvious?
Should goals be disallowed because they weren't obviously in? Alternatively should goals be allowed because they were almost goals?Seriously wtf
VAR is fine (referees need to stop the song and dance about it tho.)The offside rule is an imperfect solution to goalhanging. It should be: one whole foot and head ahead of the last defender = offside.
>>142224493>one whole foot and head ahead of the last defender = offside.so you're ok with a computer calling an offside a milimeter over that?why?
>>142221274Its literally not the same in tennis. One point in tennis =/= one goal in football fucking retard. Context and severity matters. Its also a completely different dynamic if you compare it to a 100m sprint. Its a game of milliseconds, so milliseconds matter. Nobody trips over a millisecond inaccuracy during a marathon.
>>142224571Like I said, not the computer's fault. It's an inanimate fucking object. The offside rule was set pre-VAR, it had been changed many times before, so just change it again.
>vartrannies making multiple threads to show everyone how retarded they are
>>142221274On top of what everyone else already said hawkeye isn't even truly reliable because it's a projection of the calculated landing spot and not the actual real footage. If you actually follow tennis you would know there are complaints about this shit as well.
>>142224674and yet a milimeter of a touch to a player or a ball can get you a penalty kick in a milimeter of a penalty zoneweird how you can pick and choose all situations to fit your need
