Also the train won't really be in the mountains when it's relatively close to Nice (say >35 minutes away), it mostly stays in the Var river valley there. The problem with the Var area up to Saint-Martin is that it's quite industrial/commercial, without much to do or see.

Now this year I see the yellow jersey guy attacking and pulling everyone behind him on flat or hilly stages, alone, like he was a helper or domestique trying to catch the gateway, or likeea local french guy would do to win a stage. I don't understand. Shouldn't he be absolutely knackered the next day? Why didn't Armstrong do this?
