This race sucks, 2bh (to be honest).
Chaotic sprints with no trains.
Entirely predictable up and down stages.
It all peaked at stage one.

I remember this one mutt floorsqueaker who had a triple-double in his first NBA game and he didn't come close to it a single time after, he could barely get off the bench a few years later.

This is how it feels. I only wish a race ending (not really hurting him) chute for bigga because once the leg is in the door, the infestation with this other species will be pushed through every orifice.
>>
>>142665860
this pussy shit has devolved from getting rid of people that would head butt and purposefully drive others into barriers to now relegating sprinters from perfectly reasonable and necessary maneuvers in a chaotic pack. Just make it so you aren't allowed to steer at all from 1km at this point. Fags.

Very well, expanding my lead on:
Superman López está LIMPIO

Rim brakes are simple as fuck. When I first got my bike I took apart all the parts including brakes to see how everything worked

Remind me again: what the hell could a professional mechanic possibly "fix" that you couldn't?
I mean, the "professional bike mechanic" isn't a trained CNC miller / lathe operator / composite material processor / machinist, is he?
Okay, he might has some experience by doing this shit day by day.
But most of them are just professional frauds, getting things somewhat done in minimal time.

Speaking of tires exploding off a rim, on my Sunday mtb ride a dude roughly 20m ahead of me flatted his tire in a corner resulting in a chute brutale. It went something like this; tire slashed -> goes flat instantly -> tire flies off the rim -> rim hits rocks and dirt -> wipes out -> he hits the ground and tumbles down the hill.

That'll be you soon unless you change wheels
>>

Yes, I am still a bit afraid of my weight doing funny things to my frame at higher speeds on a bump but you go because you can and because it is a thrill.

But let me just get down to sub 100kg. We're going well into 60s, can't go much faster anywhere around, unless it is Annaberg.

History lesson:

Here is a Citroen 2CV, one of the most popular cars in post war France.
2CV is short for "deux chevaux" meaning 'two horsepower' which is literally the engine power of the early 2CVs.
When the TdF was becoming more of a genuine international sporting event, the organizers decided to categorize climbs, using the 2CVs ability to climb the mountains as a gauge for difficulty.

A Cat 4 climb would be a mountain that a 2CV can climb in 4th gear.
A Cat 3 climb would be a mountain that a 2CV can climb in 3rd gear.
Cat 2, 2nd gear.
Cat 1, 1st gear.
HC, not passable by a 2CV.

came back from fireworks downtown in the rain and my glasses fogged up pretty bad, first time i ever cycled at night and in the rain at the same time, was pretty scary at some dark places desu.

But on the flip side, when i got to this hill that google earth GPS estimates it to be around 7~8% grade for 380m, it got too late for me to shift down to my 28t chain ring so i just rode it at 38-18 in the entire way on my clunky 3x7 commuter bike. Wasn't even too tired when I got all the up as opposed to when I ride it usually on 28-20, I'm literally gasping for air in my zone 5 heart rate when I reach the top. My FTP is low as shit though at an overestimated 210w from a ramp test and I weigh only 64kg though. I can't wait to see how easy this is going to be when I reach >300w FTP.

On my own diagnosis I think it was an issue with the spring tension, because one of the caliper arm, on the other hand of the cable, wouldnt go back to his original place after I was done pulling on the lever and would end his movement halfway there. You're right, I think i fucked it but handing it out to some incompetent faggot who's only good at using his allen keys and truing wheels which is what I can do just fine on my own. Now I need to wait for my caliper to come back, pay the fuck (he wouldnt even bill me on the spot, told me the bill would be on 'time spent working') and go to a competent machinist or something like that. Or I could just shell out the 60 euros for a new front caliper. This shit is killing me, I just installed brand new carbon brake pads on there too.

Dude said yeah I can fix this, held my bike hostage for like a week and a half, then I come back only to find out he just put on an entire new shifter because that was easier.
He quoted a shit ton of man hours for something I never asked for and I threatened to take him to court for that so in the end I still had to pay for a full new shifter but no man hours.

wild. I know one service/shop place, their service is kinda expensive but they really know their shit. usually when I have something other mechanics can't deal with, they're my last stop. and these guys too love to push new components (from their shop of course) on you. but it always with prior agreement. never heard when someone just change components and then just try to bill you.
>>
>>142677218
I feel like this is what happened to me. I should've listened to my girlfriend and just have bought a new brake caliper. But I also had the temptation of going to the bike mechanic, I never went to one ever and always learned to fix stuff on my own since my dad gave me half of his entire set of tools a while back but this time it was just out of my reach. If the price is more than half of the price I found for a new caliper then I'm walking out on them
>>
>>142677398
Dude you're 100% getting a new calliper installed "it was impossible to fix"
>>
>>142677408
I didn't hand them out my entire bike anyway, just took the caliper out. I'm dumb but not that dumb. For now my loss is one broken caliper + 13eur for the new front brake pads
>>

>>
>>142677434

I never once snapped a cable in my life, despite it seems to be a common occurrence on the internet. This baffles me. Just set the limit screws correctly on the rear mech and you probably will not need to tension the cable like a motherfucker so much it snaps. The monkeys at the bike shop are unqualified 70% of the times so you really better off on your own.
>>
>>142677549
It snapped mid commute after a year and a half of not touching it. I don't even know how it happened, I kinda assumed wezr and tear + something bumping into it since it was after a winter in salty roads.
Maybe it was just a shoddy cable
>>
>>142677549
This is not how a limit screw works lmao
>>
>>142677602
I mean my theory is someone tried to compensate the H screw set wrongly by cranking the shit up of the cable tension resulting in a cable snap over minimal usage, but feel free to correct me dumbass
>>
>>142677549
yeah you don't understand how a rear mech works
btw a shifter cable never snaps because of excessive tension, but because something creates a point of localized stress along the way
>>
The sole reason for this many sprint stages has to be that the UCI wanted Cavendish to have as many chances as possible to break the record, because of Netflix
>>
Sometimes /tdf/ is a good reminder how lucky we are the rest of the year
>>
>>142677729
Today is for the breakaway, the sprint teams are getting thin
>>
>>142677717
So increasing the cable tension doesn't move the mech to the wheel the same way the H limit screw does when you fasten it. Don't go dunning kruger on me dude.

>>142677751
that's not what I said, what I said is that it's not the amount of tension that breaks the cables and no, the h limit screw does not change the tension on the cable
the tension on the cable is 100% controlled by the spring in the derailleur
the tension increased by your hand when you shift is miniscule compared to what the cable can withstand if it were aligned perfectly
cables break on very high stressed points, that's why they break at the screw in the derailleur or the shifter 99% of the time

My godfather has a down syndrome son a little younger than me (3 years) and while he's always jolly and fun to hang out with you can see it caused a lot of hurt with the parents and their marriage. They still have two other normal kids btw. The one with down syndrome can still understand social cues very well, can even make jokes etc, talks but in a slurred barely comprehensible way (which is fine since his vocabulary is limited), can do his hygiene on his own very well. The only issue is that he's very limited when it comes to work let's say, because you can really understand the handicap by looking at his motor skills ie. huge issues with writing, doing anything 'technical' so to speak. also kindergarten level reading. But he's cool he's fun to be around, he's just chilling

Here some rider start interviews about yesterday's safety in the finale which was again a topic at sporza as they grilled gouvenou about the traffic furniture

>Pogacar
"Safety improves every year in the Tour with the signage, but it is not perfect yet. On the other hand: we have Google Maps, we get all the information in our earphones and all the teams know the obstacles. But you can't completely clear the roads of obstacles. That's always been the case. We can't change that."
"We should maybe focus on respect in the peloton. It's just a shame that something like this happens. But you can't really avoid it."

>Campenaerts
"I think that few organisations do it as well as ASO. In Flanders we may be doing a little better with Flanders Classics, but that's about 8 races on a postage stamp. The Tour is 21 stages in 3 weeks all over France. It is not possible to indicate every pothole. The danger is mainly how we ride. I participate in it myself. If you don't want to crash, it's simple: get in the last 10 of the peloton. You have plenty of time to brake there, but you're not in it for the prizes and then you'd better not start."

>Van Aert
"Only at the beginning of the village was there someone who whistled and made noise to indicate the central bank, but the bank was intermittent. That was super dangerous. I think it should be possible to remove those things away in the finale of a stage in the biggest race in the world."

They moved the finish line at the last moment because in Milano more than 10k people waited at the finish line, I guess they moved to Milano to do the last lap on the velodrome to make those people happy
Can't find anything on the cycling sites but I know it happened, I spent some hours reading old journals to make this, and it was valid for the GC so it counts as official stage I guess
Also I have the time gaps of every stage while PCS don't, LOSERS (they also have wrong time gaps in the final GC)

Maybe that's true but they ride tons of races in a season and most don't have the budget to tear up all the road furniture for hundreds of 100kms. They might as well get used to riding safer and paying attention to the road.

do I cook the tomato sauce with the lid on, with the on so it lets some steam out on the sides, or with the lid off?

With lid off, you will cook off water and sauce will concentrate. With lid on, consistency will stay the same so cooking it will allow flavors to mellow and meld

I think we're saying the same thing. Usually you will start with the lid off to reduce the sauce to a desired consistency (which does concentrate the flavour), but usually your vegetables and meats in the sauce can still soften up or absorb more of the sauce. So for that you usually stick the lid on, put it on a low heat and let it simmer for a while until all the bits are nice and tender and enveloped in the flavour
