Anyone else not care? Team sports are the only kino sports worth watching. Individual sports are only fun to participate in. Let's not even talk about the sports are boring as fuck. No one wants to watch anyone swim or run in a straight line

1) What is /sp/ like during the Olympic Games?

2) Are there threads about pretty athletes? Particularly female javelin throwers and high jumpers? Bonus points if they feature thighs that could crush a man’s skull.

3) do we care about Olympics football tennis and golf or is it more important to focus on track and field, swimming, cycling, and shooting?

black lady already gave the white flag so does that jump count or no? I thought once the flag goes up you're good regardless of what the bar does after.
Pic related here is Angelina Topic. She is 18, 6 foot tall, jumps high although whether she's capable of making the podium in the Olympics field is a little questionable. It would take a personal best jump for bronze I think.

Women's climbing field this year is a little older average age than last olympics. I want to say the medal favorites are all 19 and over.

Girls skateboarding on the other hand runs younger than gymnastics. This crew here represent the current world elite of women's park skateboarding. The oldest is 17.

Climbing is good if the camera work is good. It can be less pleasant if the shot choice is terrible. I shouldn't even have to bring this up but SOMETIMES the film crew used for climbing world cups screws things up so badly the event is nearly unwatchable. There are cute girls. Do we go head to head with China in anything that we both care about? Doesn't make for much of a competition when we they focus on a whole different set of events than we do

For actual competition, I love the Australia vs US rivalry in swimming
Jamaica vs US will be interesting in the top track events
I miss the US vs USSR rivalry in women's team gymnastics. Is China good in that?

As for China, they are just two golds from passing us with most golds all time in diving which they should easily do this Olympics. Pic is 2020 Tokyo

Something about there being no equivalent race for women. Some women said they were up for increasing their race length to be equal to the men's death march. IOC instead decreased the men's to be the same as the women's. I assume IOC didn't like all the footage of men collapsing, shitting themselves, be rolling off the street in wheelchairs etc (ie the best parts of death march).

Not since the 70s but by then more than half the of the popilation were spanish inmigrants, and now it can't compete with spanish as it's the default language in the tv, radio, internet and also schools due to all the recent inmigration. Catalans may only be 30% of Catalonia now.
An absolute ethnic replacement.

What do the French people think about the Paris Olympics? During the last Winter Olympics and Summer Olympics, there were frequent protests against the hosting of the Olympics in South Korea and Japan.
Olympics have no economic benefit. And Paris is the world's most visited tourist destination in the first place, so why are you hosting the Olympics in Paris?
The Olympics will be much more effective if it is held in countries that are not noticed by the international community, such as Poland, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia etc.
>>
>>142927919
>Olympics have no economic benefit.
Bro weren't like 20 million people total on the previous olympics?
That's massive local housing and food, what are you talking about
Now, I don't know if it evens out with the infrastructure you need to build, but the people is there, plus all broadcasts deals to every country in the world, the fields are like 80% ground 20% cameras
>>
>>142928088
France is one of the three biggest economies in Europe. So, I don't know how much more economic benefit France can get from hosting the Olympics than it already is. The last Tokyo Summer Olympics was the most financially unsuccessful Olympics ever. Due to the presence of so many new media such as YouTube and Netflix etc, people's interest in international sporting events has also decreased considerably.
>>
>>142927919
95% of people are complaining about it, snickering about how fucked up its going to be or telling everyone they know how NOT interested they are.

Its reached the point where I'm starting to get excited about it just because of my contrarian syndrom
>>
>>142927919
Most of us don't want the Olympics and our government is fucking awful at organizing this shit. It's also not safe for tourists anyway because Paris is a fucking shithole. An australian woman just got raped by 5 ngubus last week. Even with all the cops around, shit like this can still happen so hopefully no one comes to the Olympics, it's not worth it.

Olympic /sp/ is even better than World Cup /sp/ desu
There's sport on for 12 hours a day, you can watch a brand new sport you've never seen before, when it wraps up you can jump to another one.

Football is less prestigious of course due to the U23 rule, but you've got the stars of Tennis and Basketball is unusual this year as Team USA has LeBron, Curry and Durant with Kerr as coach so it's /elite/ as fuck.

The SOLE downside is from a Bong perspective the BBC used to have literally everything up until 2016 but now they split everything with Eurosport so it's not as simple as turning on the Iplayer anymore.

As of yesterday

So far, 8.8 million Olympics tickets have been sold

men’s 100-metre final tickets are still available from €295. There are events with seats under €100 – football tickets for the group stages start at just €15.

There are also still 4,000 tickets left for the opening ceremony, but only the priciest categories are still available, which range from between €900-€2,730.
