So what is the deal with penalties in football?
>Why do the in-game penalties awarded after a foul count towards the career statistics?
I mean, okay, it is an in-game goal, but the average success rate of a penalty kick is around 75%. Therefore, the odds of scoring a penalty are significantly higher compared to a normal goal. The penalty shootout after the extra time is not included in the career statistics, so why include the in-game penalties?
>Why is the penalty kick not taken specifically by the player that was fouled like, for example, in basketball?
I think it would be much better if the penaltis were taken by whoever was fouled, this is a completely reasonable suggestion. Why the fuck should it always be Ronaldo or Messi taking the penalty for their stat padding purposes.
>I believe in the future we will see other players like Messi or Ronaldo currently that will take every penalty in any match they play.
The last couple of EUROs has shown us that there has been an increase in penalties awarded in the latest years (2020 - 17, 2000 - 13, 2016 - 12, 2024 - 12), WCs too (2018 - 29 penalties awarded, 2022 - 23 takes the second place, the previous record was 18). Imagine that in the future there will be a penalty awarded almost every single match and every time one dedicated player on the team will be taking it, that will be an automatic 0.75 goals per game. Like if you look at Ronaldo (data may not be up-to-date), out of a total of 875 career goals, 161 are penalty goals (almost 20%), Messi has a total of 821 career goals, of which 108 are from penalties (slightly more than 13%).

TL;DR - Goals from penalties awarded during the game should not count towards career statistics and always the fouled player should be taking them.

Why?
>>
The only problem with penalties, and red cards, are how much they affect the result of a match.
> Add a blue card between yellow and red that forces the team to sub out the blue-carded player, keep red only for unsportsmanlike behavior.
> Add a farther penalty mark to be used in-game.
That's all.
>>
It's just too easy to score and usually completely out of proportion with whatever foul it's meant to punish

More fouls and football being a more aggressive sport would be preferable to the constant diving and refballing. Total homo sport
>>
They just need to implement the old MLS benuldies. Would solve all problems.

We solved everything about this decades ago but you simply weren’t ready for us

Just don't commit a foul in the box.

The only people that have a problem with this a drooling retards.

your whole sport is for drooling retards

Indirect free kicks inside the box could be used as well. It's stupid that we only have yellow cards (practically meaningless) and red cards (death sentence). Same with free kicks vs penalties.

you laughed at us then
turns out we were right
AS ALWAYS

True, we could probably do:
> small box, or severe foul inside the big box = penalty
> big box = indirect free kick

what actually needs to be changed in this shit sport is extra time rules -- it should be like hockey where the first goal wins. penalties should be absolute last case scenario.

plus first goal wins in extra time would make the game so much more interesting.

it used to be like this and it slurped even harder.
no rules can fix a game this faggy.
>>
>>142941386
You got it all backwards: statistics don't matter in football
