American Football. 1. No game clock. Only a play clock. The game is divided between possessions similar to innings in baseball. Throw an int, lose a fumble, kick, get a safety, score, or turnover on downs then the inning is over. Exception: double or multiple turnovers before the ball is downed: muffed punt recovered by the punting team, int or fumble recovery fumbled and recovered by the defense or a safety.2. No kickoffs, ball starts at your own 1 yard line after your opponent scores. Games start off with the winner of the coin toss (or scramble for the ball, or any other sort of competition that you want to have) determining possession and which end of the field that you want to defend. These choices stay the same entire game.3. All kicks are punts and all kicks can be field goals. A missed field goal in bounds can be returned or downed. I think that a punter getting it through the uprights should count as a field goal. Spot the ball at the non-scoring team’s own 1 yard line and start the other half of the inning or next inning from there. A downed ball in the endzone is awarded to the defense at their own 1 yard line. No touchbacks.4. Safeties are added onto the previous inning’s score. Possession then changes and ball is spotted at the 1 yard line.5. Have a 1 point conversion after a touchdown happen at the 1 yard line, a 2 point attempt at the 3 yard line, and a 3point attempt at the 5 yard line.6. End games when it becomes mathematically impossible for a comeback. Easy to do with innings based football.7. No touchbacks. A kick, int, or fumble recovered in the endzone is spotted at team B’s own 1 yard line on the change of possession. Ball must be returned out.
