>ruins the Olympic experience for everyone in Europa

Boooooooo

To think back in the 90s the Discovery Channel was what Yanks and freaks with a satellite dish here used to watch elephants shagging
>>
>nooooo i disdain the fact that i can watch the olympics for an affordable price
if it was on sky i would have to pay 60 bucks a month (what i pay for d+ annually) and wouldn't be allowed to cancel for a year
>>
>>142978429
Paying?

It used to be free here, constant live TV coverage with dozens of streams too

Now the BBC can only show stuff on one or two TV channels that Discovery lets them

Euro was like that too, 1 game per day out of three for free, the rest on bein

Just do what us burgers and VPN to Canada to watch the CBC's coverage for free
>>
I could watch every single olympic event for free on our news app back in 2012
>>
>>142978555
That's bad man, all on free TV here
>>
>>142978230
i havent used discovery plus but how does it compare to eurosport player from tokyo olympics? is there still the option for commentary in different languages and no comentary?
>>
>>142978587
I hope all you thieving fucks fall asleep during the Olympics and wake up to some nightmare like original Indigenous programming or Maritime comedy
>>
>>142978498
>that Discovery lets them
- UK FTA Brodcast Protected Events
- GROUP A PROTECTED EVENTS
- 1. The Olympic Games
Discovery doesnt have a choice, Olympics *have to* be shown on FTA in UK. How they actually decide that BBC can only show it on 2 channels and not all events digitally tho, idk. The 'protected events' Bill maybe doesnt cover digital, it was only designed to ensure that the FA Cup final, Wimbledon final, Grand National etc. could never be exclusively stolen by PayTV cunts

Max has been excellent for the Olympics so far here
I have a legacy sub so it's only $4/mo with zero ads and every event is covered
Much better streaming quality than our public TV ever offered during Olympics
Seems to be replays available for all events too
>>
>>142978429
Honestly, the price is absurdly good. I've paid £3.99 for everything through Discovery+. Fukin BBC to whom I pay the license fee of £170 a year has limited coverage.
>>
>>142979468
Same here, ARD/ZDF take 18 euros a month of public media fee from every household but d+'s 6 bucks have all events i would ever want to watch from like 3 different sports as well as the olympics and most tennis grand slams
>>
>>142980217
does Discovery+ also make Tatort tho? No?
18 EUR on public broadcasting is well spent
>>
>>142978230
The commentary and presentation on this so far has been dogshit
>>
Why are you letting this happen? Don't you actually have consumer rights there? Dont get jewed like us the state of entertainment in America is extremely grim
>>
>>142978230
discovery still exists? How the hell did they get rights to the olympics they should be bankrupt
>>
>>142980970
>>142981067
the IOC sold *all* the European Rights to Warner Bros - Discovery parent - from 2018 to 2032 Games.
And the IOC is literally a gang of corrupt lawyers shovelling banknotes up there arses as fast as they can in Switzerland. See also: FIFA, etc.
>>
>>142978230
You Only Had To Be Canadian
>>
>>142981430
well that's depressing as fuck for you guys
WB is about as jewish as it gets and they don't have a great track record with sports. They mainly only do NBA here
>>
>>142978230

>that Discovery jew

No, thanks...
>>
>>142979468
Is it in 4k though ? because its 2024 now where 4k is your basic resolution.
I think they will have b/w problems and priority will be given to Americans.
>>
>>142985547
post .pls
>>
>>142979468
>I've paid £3.99 for everything through Discovery+
Yeah this is what I've done. I'll still watch the BBC's coverage here and there too.
>>
>>142978498
don't they realise that the reason the Olympics is relevant, is because everyone on earth has the ability to watch it?

put it behind a paywall, and you've got a 2-week Netflix series of Gladiators. no one's going to be talking about what's happening, and no one will remember anything when it's over.
>>
>>142987681
kinda agree desu
last olympics was by far the one i watched the least of simply cos it wasnt on the bbc
whole point is it's just there easy
not having to go on fucking computer
or app on your tv and all th is bollocks
>>
>>142987009
It's 1080p for the £3.99 offer but the stream quality has been very good so far
>>
>paying to watch sports
>>
>>142987983
it's like paying for porn desu
>>
>>142987983
>Making an issue over 3.99
>>
peacock has been fine, worth the 8 bucks
>>
>>142988045
now repeat for F1

and cricket

and snooker

and golf

why did my granddad get to watch all this shit for free, and i have to pay like 300 quid a year?
>>
>>142988111
because grandad made 300 quid a year
>>
>>142978679
Why are you upset that you have the best olympics broadcast? It should be a point of pride
>>
>>142988257
No since my taxes pay for the CBCs cdn bill and we also have an incoming conservative government who will use any excuse to try and kill public broadcasting .
>>
The real question is where are the free streams??
