Is it even possible for another actual powerhouse to crop up from a small school anymore? Like, could a Fresno State or a North Carolina actually become a legitimate football power? Players will seek the places where they will get playing time. The biggest question is will big tough schools play the giant killers that arise. As soon as a smaller school beats a major power house, the others will avoid them in favor of blowing out a low level FCS school. With a bigger playoff system, you'll see a lot more high profile non conference schedules. I could easily see an expanded playoff because more teams equals more games. Giant killers benefit from an expanded playoff vs a 4 team, 8 team, or 12 team format.
