Everybody wants to clown on Honda's performance compared to Yamaha but when Yamaha still has Fabio and Honda's best rider could barely win one race on a factory spec Ducati what do you expect

>Rins started 7/20 races last year, scored 54 points, and finished 19th in the standings
>Rins has started 11/14 races so far this year, scored 15 points, and is 21st in the standings

I am kind of missing Red Bull Air Race broadcasts. Any anons have stories of going to one? I was at the airport where race village was for the NYC race in 2010 and I will post pics later from that day.

>one of the Shindy old boy's club has fallen
>he didn't even get money for selling a charter
>he can't start his own team with blackjack and hookers because he won't be able to start any races
kek and they had some retard getting scammed into buying a stake in Special Ed's team to sell it so well

Better hope this Towriss dude has an inexplicable love for American open wheel racing rivaling the guys who have been in the sport for 4 decades but it sounds like the FBI raid was because of him taking control and having a different idea of sportsmanship than they do.

Actually though the even funnier implication is that Roger got so assblasted that Michael dare talk shit about the PenskeCar Penske Series Powered by Penske that he started only talking to Towriss and might have talked him into calling in the debt on Andretti to get rid of him. What a fucking mess, I'm sort of beyond just shitposting about these fuckers because they are terrified to race more than 5 minutes from the US border even though they'd have 4x the attendance and ideological disagreement about spec shit to seriously concerned about the fiber of Indianapolis car racing.

Funny how Penske had people conned into thinking he'd mellowed out in his older years only to show everyone he's still a ruthless uptight cunt once he had more power than ever.

https://apnews.com/article/indycar-andretti-towriss-ownership-0675f357777558dc36050a42b53de451
>Motorsports icon Michael Andretti told The Associated Press on Sunday he’s at a point in his life where he no longer wants to run the day-to-day of his global operation and that’s why he turned over leadership to his business partner.
>No, Dan Towriss did not steal Andretti Global out from under one of the most successful racers in American history.
>Towriss, owner of Gainbridge and holding company Group 1001, has slowly grown from a sponsor of one of Andretti’s IndyCar teams to one of the biggest spenders in motorsports. But at least two years ago, Towriss bought an ownership stake in Andretti Global and became part of the entire organization.
>And no, Andretti said with firm denial, he was not pushed out of IndyCar by series owner Roger Penske. “Absolutely not. I would not give Roger that much credit,” Andretti told AP.
>>
>>144759002
>The duo had planned to announce the restructuring in the coming months but were beat to it by a Friday report in Sportico, a publication owned by Roger Penske’s son, Jay. The dots began to be connected, Andretti and Towriss figure, once IndyCar team owners agreed to a new charter agreement and it was Towriss who signed on behalf of Andretti Global.
>The two denied the Sportico characterization that Andretti relinquished “his ownership stake” in Andretti Global.
>“We didn’t say that he doesn’t own our team. There’s all kinds of speculation,” Towriss said. “We certainly have restructured the ownership. Michael still has a financial interest. This got leaked in a way that put us on our back foot in terms of responding to things. People are going to always look to try to fill a vacuum with stories that sound great and are super interesting. This one is not super interesting. Michael said this was a time to take on a different role from the daily grind.”

Marco still doing Indy confirmed

>NASCAR will decide in the next couple of days of possible changes to the cars for Talladega to keep them from getting airborne. One is apparently an air deflector on the right side of the windshield. One of the proposed solutions is a clear fin that would extend from the windshield to the rear window. This fin would act kind of like a spoiler when the car is sideways and push it down to stop flips.
Another useless bandaid, but this time it will obstruct the driver's vision! Get ready for the shitshow.
>>
>>144762392
That's very likely, kek
>>144762473
It looks like it would interfere with the roof flap

Since it's the angled flap, a few properly angled cuts and proper mounting should allow the flap to still function without any massive gaps in the fin.

>>144762547
Not like the fucking roof flap has even been deploying anyways.

If you look at the 90s blowovers after they brought in the roof fails and skirts the cars tended to flip when they got 3/4 backwards while all the recent ones have been dead 90 degrees, so even though the back still ends up getting more air than the front there's something to be said for trying to get some downforce on the front when the cars are sideways. The fin being separate from the right roof rail is pretty goofy looking though.

Also JUST GET A FUCKING STEPPED FLOOR LIKE EVERYONE ELSE ON THE EARTH STILL USING FLAT FLOORS ON CARS THAT GO FASTER THAN 175MPH FUCK

This seems both ineffective, ugly, and likely to cause additional problems by obstructing vision and interfering with the existing roof flaps. Please NASCAR, go back to the drawing board on this.

The WRC2 championship is sooooooo anticlimatic or maybe it's not the best word but definitely weird.
And this is something Mikkelsen told already years ago.
I know the "nominate your own point scoring races" thing is so that the teams can optimise their budget not needing to go for flyaway races , but the current situation clearly shows how flawed this is.
We have the top 3, all of them completing their last nominated rally on different ones from the last 3:
SoIberg - Chille
Rossel - CER
Pajari - Japan
The rules should have something like that the TOP 6 before the penultimate round (like before CER this year) are entered automatically to the last rally in the calendar as their 8th and the FIA/WRCPromoter arranges the shipping and gives them a some kind of budget help to ease the unplanned cost. And that round would count towards their tally so we would have a proper decider
>>
>>144760301
Im not a big conspiracy person but the better Ross has raced after the playoffs started compared to before really makes me think about that Hendrick forcing under tuned engines on them after what happened last year.
>>
>>144765432
There is literally no reason you would give a non-playoff car better equipment.
>>
Ross was great third of the season, went to total dogshit (with bad luck) 2nd third, and he's now scored more points in the playoffs than any of the playoff drivers. Gonna be a tough year to swallow for that bunch. Yeah Byron and Larson took him out of good finishes (that would have got him into the playoffs), but they fucked themselves a lot too.

What US size do you wear? A lot of the time it's just L and XL that are available, but I'm going to Petite again this year and I can get you a set if you pay shipping. No shit frog fren. It's only IMSA races as far as I have seen and it's usually only the car companies that are the ones giving stuff out, but sometimes, it's the teams. I'll hit up all the free stuff a few times and try to get you some good loot. Even if it isn't shirts or whatever, I can still hook you up with a Porsche flag or Ford water bottle or Petit Leman refrigerator magnet. It really won't be much trouble and I know how much you would appreciate it. I mean, I would LOVE a loot box of free but unobtainable Asian racing swag. Think of it as a thank you for all the extremely high quality posts.
I know you like JDC and Proton, but are there any manufacturers/cars/teams/drivers you are particularly interested in? Looking for and finding specific things would be really satisfying. I'm actually getting really stoked about this as a little side quest on my racing adventure.

Trailers get stolen only slightly less than motorcycles because they don't have electronic theft deterrent systems like a car. Said trailers having one of a kind easily identified race cars in them is an oopsie and why they found them in different places after they dumped the car.

The Mustang cup cars are actually probably stock enough that they'd still be worthwhile for a chop shop, but they're risky because they're hard to hide their identity while you're transporting and parting it and there's some stuff that will be annoying to get rid of.

Generally speaking racers are not scrupulous people and this stuff falls outside the net of tracking road registered vehicles so you can sell anything as long as it's not suspiciously unique or rare. Like if that thing has a standard race seat in it someone out there wants a cheap race seat and as long as you don't sell it in a lot with other parts nobody will know where it came from.

>The provision was expanded upon in the 2025 charter agreement. Per the lawsuit, “while teams used to be prohibited from participating in any professional ‘stock car racing’ other than NASCAR, teams with 2025 Charter Agreements are now prohibited from participating in any ‘automobile or truck racing’ series not sanctioned by NASCAR.”
wew

How does that even work for Penske in a way that doesn't make this a toothless technicality, because it's not like those are remotely even two separate teams that happen to be owned by the same guy. At least while we're humouring the idea that Roger doesn't get special terms.
>>
>According to Jenkins, and as outlined in the lawsuit, the teams received an email at 5pm that gave them one hour to review a 112-page document and sign or their charters would be pulled. After pushback from the teams, the deadline was extended to midnight.
Penske probably went "why the fuck don't I just do that" lmao

In the end I suppose their mistake was trying to go full NASCAR on Michael Jordan, because Michael Jordan doesn't give a fuck if you take his charters.

Well, it turns out this new charter agreement also fucked over Larson's next year attempt at the double header too.
They can simpy ban him of racing on indycar because he isn't racing on NASCAR, which retards were praising when that shitshow at charlotte happened.
Man, every fucking rumor that was born this year is proving to be true, even FOX's sudden trimming and firing of their nascar hub crew and races to focus only on indycar.

This is really fucked up, if this reach the supreme court and FTC, NASCAR is fucked, even when Trump gets in, he isn't taking their side either.

We may live to see ASSCAR beg help from Liberty Media and FIA to escape this.
>>
>>144813000
NASCAR was not going to give Larson a playoff waiver until they realized the shitshow it would cause, they tightened that up
They let FOX slash their TV budgets for coverage, NBC too (losing Dale Jr) just so NASCAR can bring more and more TV production in-house so the viewer sees what Jim France wants them to see

It's OVER
>>
>>144813169
They get what they fucking Deserve
and per Bianchi's side of things, This MAY open a precedence to ISC be broken and the tracks being sold out, which means all of the ovals Indycar raced on it back to Penske or other Company who Joins Penske Entertainment for it.

I may not be surprised if this shit also hits SMI too.
This year is going to end badly for them.

If this Happens, it will be a Open season for any company who's interested of buying the tracks, mainly FIA under one of their companies if they are interested to keep a few key oval tracks "hostage" so post lawsuit NASCAR or Indycar has to play them to race there. Though in reality, there will be a ton of Real Estate kikes rubbing their hands so their NIMBY soccer mom karens gets their Shopping centers so they will have sex at the toilets with jamal for any shitty amateur porn website.

The lawsuit doesn't request permanent charters.
They want to renegotiate the 2025 agreement and force NASCAR to end its anticompetitive behaviors (this is really broad, but based on what's mentioned they want an end to single source suppliers, no NASCAR rights to team intellectual property, allow teams to compete in other series, force NASCAR to sell or spin-off ARCA into an independent series, etc.)
The court could end charters and force some other outcome to restore a competitive environment.

no fucking way
>>
I would rather NASCAR be ran by a boomer oligarch family than corporations and network partners. NASCAR is already pretty gay with it's reliance on sponsorships, it will get mega super gay if the teams and their corporate sponsor money have a bigger say.
>>
>>144819024
How do you think spreading the TV money to the teams instead of it going directly to Jim France's bank account would increase the power TV networks have on NASCAR's decisions
>>
>>144819040
Because it shifts a lot of power and leverage over the series from a family (who's ran it forever) to team owners who are beholden to their corporate sponsors. It's like asking how the news industry could get worse when all the outlets are bought up by corporate interests... Guess what, the news industry got a lot worse when that happened. I am no defender of the France family, but I trust them with the future of NASCAR much more than I trust leftwing, gay corporate money. The sponsorship over the series, teams, and races is enough.
>>
>>144818902
Not allowing NASCAR to control team IP marketing would be a disaster for fans. the reason we had that stretch of incredible fan involvement in the sport in the 80s 90s and early 00s is because individual teams couldn't arbitrarily opt out of branding deals. All the collectable hats and diecasts and TV shows and everything else. It's no different than MLB or the NFL being in charge of licensing the several franchise's goods.
>>
>>144819067
News industry has always been corporate, what? Newspapers have been private businesses since before America was independent, the idea of a state-owned news media was unheard of prior to the 1930s and was seen as abhorrent because it removed all semblance of independence from it and instead turned it into propaganda mouthpieces of the ruling party (see: BBC news in Bongolia)

>right to free press shall not be infringed
>>
>>144819143
This would be a disaster for us current fans. If NASCAR becomes governed by corporate money the product will get worse and the messaging will be MSNBC tier. I don't think enough fans realize this is *literally* how their movement works. They take over institutions you once loved and trusted and bombard you with propaganda. NASCAR must win this fight, but their best outcome is to find a way to settle (cuz they will lose in court, they'll never get a fair shake).
>>
We have to protect local small business owners like Jim France from the global menace of Bob Jenkins
>>
>>144819156
Buddy, it's the same exact thing as the government owning all of it because they all repeat the same uniparty lines. That's the whole point. Drive out dissent, take over RW institutions and replace them with the same shit we see everywhere else. The France family is the *only* thing keeping NASCAR somewhat relatable to people like us. All the drivers make millions every year, all the charter teams are making big profits, but you wanna fight for the sponsors to have more of a say in the Cup Series?
>>
>>144819160
So how would they even settle this? Give dennis some more tv money than the other teams and tell him to keep quiet? Can't help but think their stubborness fucked them here,
>>
>>144819185
Maybe amend the charter agreement so FRR and 23XI can be happy. If this really does go to court the entire sport loses. I think FRR would settle, but Denny and MJ might be trying to upend the sport for a long-term win. Who knows.

NASCAR should take the 11, 23, and 45 back to R&D every week just to be safe tho.

They do that because the government pays them to, because of antitrust and anti monopoly laws being weaponised to take down anyone who isn't a member of the Boys Club.

I want the France family to stay in control, because NASCAR Is their family business. I think it's abhorrent to propose that a government can arbitrarily seize and redistribute your property whenever you cross an arbitrary threshold of success. For the same reason, I disagree with the breakup of Standard Oil and Ma Bell, and the proposed breakup of Google and Microsoft. The precedent antitrust has set is that you don't own your property, the government does. That makes us no different than China. That isn't how this country is supposed to work, it isn't supposed to reward failure and punish success.

The reason no NASCAR competitor has sprung up is because government prevents it, not because NASCAR is so big that they can crush competition. In 1951, if you wanted to run a stock car race, you and a few buddies could dig out a track in an old cornfield and bash some old shitheaps around and charge 50¢ for everyone else in town to come watch. It cost five bucks and a weekend to set that up. Nowadays you need to pay union construction crew a million dollars a week for six years, need to pay millions and wait a decade to get the permits, and need to put up billions in insurance before you can even shovel the first load of dirt. Modern cars aren't condusive to becoming stock cars because safety and emissions regs have made them into rolling iPhones. This isn't NASCAR or the France family's fault.

For the leftwing, taking a financial loss to kill NASCAR would be a worthy cause too. NASCAR fans do not appreciate how the France family is shielding us from the globohomo regime. Yes sponsorship has led to faggotry, but most importantly, it can get so much worse.

Remember, the number one religion in the US (baptist evangelicalism) and the religions that played the biggest influence on American philosophy (puritanism, quakerism, methodism) were only ever niche faiths in England whose early proponents were kicked out of England for dissenting against the established Anglican church, which is why they flourished in the New World to begin with.

Fundamentally it isn't. I understand your frustration, but unless there is a sea-change in how the law works, corporations will never have the same coercive power the government does. They have a lot now, it's true, as evidenced by the prevalence of take-it-or-leave-it contracts like the ones you sound off on to watch these races, but it still isn't the ability to tax, the ability to regulate, or most importantly the ability to deploy the monopoly on violence against you. The government is, by its nature, always the greater threat to your freedom.

You're mischaracterizing antitrust law. It's not illegal to be a big company. It's not even illegal to be a monopoly. It is however illegal to use your size and dominant position against competitors, customers, suppliers, etc to harm the competitive market. It's like: there's nothing wrong with lifting weights and getting strong, but just because you're the strongest guy around, that doesn't mean you can grab someone by the arm and say, "Nice arm you got there, would be a shame if it got broken. How about you give me your phone, it'd make a nice gift?" The reason it's mostly big companies that get caught up in antitrust enforcement is that once you reach a certain size, it's natural to want to throw your weight around. Companies, and the people who run them, can't help themselves. It's human nature, and eventually they go too far.

The restriction on racing in other series is such a textbook example of anticompetitive behavior that I kind of question the competency of NASCAR's legal team. Trying to to place that kind of contractual restriction on suppliers is almost always unenforceable, and sometimes something that judges even punish. Maybe NASCAR's lawyers are playing 5D chess or something, and put that in as a negotiating tactic knowing it wouldn't fly anyway, but who knows...

I might have read the complaint wrong, but the charter agreement applies only to the team, not the drive. (i.e Larson is OK for Indy as long as he drives for McLaren, but Hendrick can't start a Indycar team from scratch)

There is also the possibility that even the Broadcast companies will get into this too because FOX lost a lot with the entire racehub and shit they had to cut because of NASCAR wanting to do everything inhouse, ssame goes to NBC who is now relegated to the last 10/15 races.

I see your point, though to my tastes the original approach to antitrust veered toward punishing big companies simply for being big. In the decades after Bork's reform, I think antitrust was what you're describing, though there seems to have been a pendulum shift back the other way in the last decade or so.

That said, I think your points about NASCAR's particular practices are spot-on, and presumably part of why prior sanctioning bodies have gotten hammered in court. If I were the Frances, I'd be seriously concerned about this suit.
