They certainly seem to have stopped, they haven't won a league in over a decade or a CL in like 15 years, and don't look like changing that anytime soon

>Their problem is France Football - the rupture is total - and Uefa [Marca]
We at /epl/ SUPPORT Real Madrid's stance against France Football.
>>
>>145377073
They're a bigger club but a worse career move, the likelihood of doing well at United is extremely low. You'd think the purse strings will be considerably tightened now too.
>>
>>145377085
we can’t deny they keep winning though, something about that club just breeds success
>>
>>145377073
Villa are in the CL, and likely to be in it again next season.
Emery has been given lots to spend at Villa, moving to man utd would set him back years and maybe never work out at all.
>>
>>145377097
Emery's already been burned at a club whose fans are 95% gloryhunting customers (albeit one which has never won the European silverware Villa has). I imagine he prefers proper family clubs with good owners and effecient management like Villa.
>>
Real Madrid are genuinely pathetic it’s like a toddler who hasn’t got their way. Vinicius jr is not some superstar either, they got dog walked by city and fluked through that game.
>>
>>145377127
Emery wasn't good with the pressure of a PSG but he's good at Villa. It's why he won't work out at United because winning cups clearly isn't enough there.
>>
>>145377127
You mean Emery has already tried rebuilding a big club and failed.

>As is the way of such arrangements, his answers were to be the subject of an embargo, not to be published until Tuesday lunchtime; there to serve as a preview for the midweek match. Instead, with the benefit of imposed hindsight, they can be seen as a rather sombre obituary for a manager's career, a swansong for someone who appeared to be as unaware of his impending departure as he was about how to win a football match.
>Because in his answers was evidence that, while almost every other observer recognised that the performances he has extracted from his team thus far this season have been tantamount to a note of resignation, he really did not see the P45 heading swiftly in his direction.

There is not a single coach who can make this team of players secure a Champions League spot. Simple as. Man United is doomed. Release cunts like Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Lindelof, Antony, Rashford and even kick Fernandes out because he's a shitter. THe only players worthy of the shirt are de Ligt, Mazraoui and Hojlund.

Man U should not be a le monkey talent team. That's beneath the greatest club in history. They should have IN EVERY POSITION the best player in the world in that position. Simple as. This is embarassing and saddening.

think Mourinho knew last week with his kind (although a bit sarcastic) words

Anyway. Ten Hag will go down as one of the worst managers ever to be in the premier league. Up there with John Carver, Frank de Boer, Scott Parker and Iain Dowie. You might say their records are far worse than ten Hag's but they were not given 600m to spend on players. What really annoys me is the division it as caused because some fans genuinely think Ten Hag was the right man for the job but got let down by Luke Shaw being injured through 3 transfer windows. Those fans probably think ETH is likeable because he reminds of themselves; a loser, bald with a greying beard, socially awkward and a charisma vacuum who hides behind being technical. Being a manager is 90% motivation and Man Utd hired a clever tactician who was also a massive dickhead and didnt try to understand why the players werent understanding
>>
>>145379124
well the rest of the season is a write-off (if they do badly, it's cause he didn't have a summer transfer window to bring his choices in)
then they'll blow like 300m next summer. think it will be gone to shit by next october / november or so and the pressure will be on
>>
>>145379090
If Amorim is willing to change tactics midgame and adapt, then he is miles ahead of ten hag
>>
Arsenal fans STILL coming up with conspiracy theories and excuses why they dropped points btw
>>
>>145379162

It’s no surprise Kikebridge backed him into it was literally impossible to justify anymore. And spent his entire tenure blaming Rashford and Shaw for getting managers fired as if anyone at the club gives a fuck what they think lmao

depth-wise, United do have enough CBs to accommodate Amorim's 343 formation in Yoro, Lisandro, de Light, Maguire, Lindelof and Evans
it's just that they're never fit at the same time and suddenly Casemiro will play there again

Maresca seems like a very rational manager. Will simply play the team he thinks will do best, bring in players if they perform well after a cup match/substitute appearance. I don’t think anyone wouldnt be tempted to try and force Nkunku into this team. He’aprobably is a better striker on paper, and was a sort of statement signing at the time. But in reality Jackson has done very well this season and Nkunku has been mediocre at best and that seems to be the only thing that matters to Maresca. It’s so simple, yet so refreshing to see a manager at Chelsea simply pick the players that are performing well and play them in positions they can handle.

You're lying. City haven't said a word to any of their sources about replacing Pep yet.

The Amorim link isn't even a real link. It spawned from a question Amorim was asked by a journalist. City are getting Sporting's director in the summer, Amorim was asked if he was likely to follow him to City. Amorim gave the I'm not thinking about those kinds of things answer. That's it. It's not even a report or has a source, you're just lying based off one question Amorim was asked in a press conference

yeah ten hag had to go, doesn't mean hiring somebody you didnt want in the summer is a good decision though, Amorim may work out but the larger questions about the people running the show remain

From what I recall they couldn't reach an agreement on pay. Amorim wanted more than West Ham were willing to give. You could easily say that West Ham just couldn't afford him
>>

I agree HOWEVER the new CEO and DOF only started mid July after the ten hag stays announcement. They probably gave an 'OK' unofficially though

Yes.

He humiliated himself by flying to West Ham during a title race to discuss leaving, and had to apologise to Sporting fans. This spooked Liverpool because it showed he was a retard.

Barca briefly looked at him but thought his tactics wouldn't work at top level
>>
>>145384655
West Ham at least returned his call and rejected him to his face. Unfortunately he would then have to apologise to Sporting for this embarrassment

Both of them are right in their own way. Cup runs don't make up for bad league form, which is the true mark of quality for a team. If you're finishing midtable with the most expensive team in the league then it means you're failing to get the best out of the players on a consistent basis. But at the same time, being able to get over the line with your team and win cups does require a level of tactical flexibility that certain managers (like Ole and Southgate) lack.

Good Morning lads

It was right for Ten Hag to get sacked. It shouldve happened in the summer. The best option was Tuchel but they missed that opportunity. the next best thing was a premier league proven manager who deserves a step up i.e. Frank, Emery (it is a step up). Id say its impossible to get one of them midseason. So Man Utd have banked on a gamble again but its a foreign manager who is a genuine up and coming (not a 55 yr old like Ten Hag) and deserves a step up. In a similar way to Slot who is clearly showing why managers like this deserve a step up

>Mark Ogden, senior writer for ESPN on BBC Radio 5 Live: Ruud van Nistelrooy has reminded us all who he is and I would imagine that the next time that a job comes up in the Premier League or Championship he would be high on the list. When he walked out of the tunnel at the start of the game, he looked the part. At times Erik ten Hag didn't look the part. If you are in a dressing room and Van Nistelrooy is giving you instructions you sit up and take notice, and at times with Ten Hag didn't look like a credible personality that could convince. The package with Ten Hag didn't really work and at least Van Nistelrooy has the appearance and the presence.

Well that and he seems like he has absolutely no common sense. Finally his transfers, where they almost exclusively had some sort of affiliation with Ajax, which was just bizarre.

I know sometimes players just decide to become dogshit on purpose because they want kick the old manager out, but ten Hag must have done something beyond bad if the squad in which like 2/3 was bought and extended their contracts by him all just decided to downtool.

I've said it before but he's a decent-to-great ball progressor when if you give him the ball then he can just glide through a bunch of players which can be surprising for someone who's almost 2m tall. Also who can forget his great finishing skill?
the problem is his decision making on where to pass, or how to position himself to be available receive the ball can be spotty (which was one of his biggest criticism back in United where he'd just there in a match only doing cardio and didn't touch the ball that much) and his defensive awareness isn't that great either. And those weaknesses that made him a liability when played deep.

Van Nistelrooy was a very good player but the issue is that we all remember - except Dave, 190 and you zoomer youngsters - how much of a pussy hole he was during the ''Battle' of 'Old' Trafford'.

I would say at home to Southampton being the easiest draw imaginable. Southampton away being 2nd and Palace at home being the 3rd easiest draw.

Not that it matters because Arsenal has a way of always crashing out of the league cup as soon as they get drawn against any semi-decent opponent anyway.
>>
>>145404983
he's not quite right though, imo. McTominay's main strength is his ball carrying because he's strong and fast. what he's shit at is playing in a double pivot and receiving the ball with his back to goal. his passing is fine but he's not going to be punching balls through to the forwards. he's a ball carrier through and through. what has changed for him is he now plays higher up the pitch (which indog mentioned) and can crash the box. ironically, the one coach to realise this and unleash him was big Stevie Clark.
