Baseball, American Football, Soccer, Basketball, Hockey for the 2023-24 seasons.

soccer is more popular than hockey? what is this gay shit?
>>
>>145455788
its not the 90s anymore bro hockey has been declining in popularity everywhere outside of finland
>>
>>145455581
kekkking at women's college basketball being more popular than the NBA
>>
>>145455788
The main international soccer tournaments (World Cup, Euros, Copa America) get decent viewership.

Club soccer does not. UCL final won't reach 3M, highest Premier League can get is ~2M, MLS final is also a bit over 2M. Liga MX is probably about the same.

not surprising
>>

people dont go outside anymore and hockey sucks on tv so it declines. you cant see the puck.
>>

that's a lie

NBA and MLS BTFO
>>
>>145455788
NHL will always lose it to Copa America and Euros. If you compare NHL viewership to other domestic soccer leauge tv ratings in the USA it beats it out by a bit.

Thing is when hockey has had best of best internationalm tournaments the ratings have been pretty strong. 2010 Gold Medal Canada vs USA game got 32 million viewers in the states for context. That is more than any soccer game has ever done, and better than all but a few NBA finals and World Series
>>
>>145455581
should be another section for college football viewership since it mogs everything other than the NFL
>>
>>145455862
i wonder if the same people watch all the soccers or its a different subset each time

like are the people who watch CL/PL the same guys that watch liga mx and MLS or can you add them all separately
>>
>>145455581
NBA is so dead it's unreal
>>
>>145456018
I'll add it to the chart when I repost in a month and a half

>>
>>145456045
I reckon there's a decent amount of overlap.

Probably a bunch of overlap between MLS and Premier League, and between LigaMX and La Liga.

cant believe i fell for the amateur handegg is huge stuff i read on spee
>>
>>145456096
You're reading the ratings, not viewership in millions.

Its substantially higher than soccer, MLB, NBA

What's even gayer is that the Women's College Basketball championship did better than Dodgers vs Yankees. This might be an all time low for baseball

>soccer is more popular than hockey?
The top soccer games get more viewers then the top hockey games. I'd be surprised if total soccer game viewers was greater then total hockey game viewers
>>
>>145461192
Because it's become a "thing." The whole half time show, which ad was the best, etc etc. It's the one everyone gets together with buds, drinks beer, eats, talks shit, and occasionally glance at the TV.

this, the world series got 75M. NBA finals got 55M
if the world series had gone 7 games it maybe gets more than the super bowl
>>
>>145455581
Wow that is really good for baseball ratings went up every game and 50% higher than NBA finals.
>>
>>145455823
A larger number of people watch hockey than ever, it’s declining as a percentage because of all the 3rd worlders moving in. That’s literally the only reason for the soccer numbers. You think actual Americans tune in to watch Colombia vs. Uruguay?
>>
>>145455788
Your sport is dying, and you never even managed to win a best of the best tournament in it, sucks to be you Pekka
>>
>>145455788
My brother in Christ, it's been like 5 solid years at the very least that Hockey and Baseball are going down in the US and Soccer up.
I mean, it's fucking grim that a Copa America game got the same viewership as the motherfucking World Series.

main takeaway is that nothing will ever surpass the popularity of handegg
>>
>>145492712
NBA is a dragged out regular season followed by dragged out post-season (its also a terrible product on-court despite having the best players in the world) so they can sell more tickets to corporations and Instagram influencers. Most of the 'fans' don't even watch the games, they just follow player drama and argue about which players are better, they resemble celebrity worshippers more than actual sports fans.

College basketball puts out an exciting postseason tournament that lasts a few weeks. And even though the players are worse, they actually allow them to play real basketball.
>>
>>145493872
That jpg is at least a decade old and fake. There's no reasonable way to suggest Calgary cares more about hockey than Edmonton
>>
>>145455581
So how far down the football ladder do we have to go until US-France Basketball beats a football game?
>>
>>145455581
Looking at the ratings, is Basketball considered a women's sport in America while people only watch men's soccer?

Why aren't Americans better in men's football?

Women's college basketball has blown up to unprecedented heights lately (volleyball too) but it was largely as a result of a few star players. Note how all three games have Iowa playing in them, that's because this star player is the greatest female player ever. (unless you are black then you seethe and hate watch while cheering on South Carolina's sheboon star) The media was obnoxiously shilling her games last year.
>>
>>145494517
It's just a little race war in basketball clothing
>>
>>145494517
Since I didn't answer your actual question, NO basketball is a men's sport (NBA for blacks, college for whites) Only spics/recent thirdies watch soccer because it is viewed as a feminine sport by everyone else, and they aren't the most athletically talented people.
>>
>>145455581
>123.4 in Superb Owl
How is it possible a rating higher than 100%?
>>
>>145495171
>NBA for blacks, college for whites
Lol wut
>>
>>145494509
Every NFL playoff game (including the one that was streaming exclusive), every Thanksgiving/Christmas game, close to half of the Monday Night Games, over half of the Sunday night games, a bunch more regular season games that were shown in all markets on an over the air network, and 2 college football playoff games (which were both cable exclusive).

>>
>>145455581
It's funny how college basketball gets more viewership than the NBA
>>
>>145499007

Be thankful America has more than one sport that people in the country like to watch or participate in. Many countries only care about 1, maybe 2 sports.

>>145499007
I’m not a huge basketball fan but March madness is my favorite sporting event/competition by a mile. It’s extremely kino to take Thursday-Friday off work and watch single elimination games all day

I like basketball but almost exclusively watch college.
>>
>>145501405
People make fun of us for nobody playing our sports, but after the sports we invented are more popular throughout the world than any other country besides UK.

We invented basketball (yes Naismith was from Canada but was a dual citizen and invented it in the USA), volleyball, baseball. American Football actually is arguably Canadian in origin since they gave us Rugby style football, but the rule changes that differentiated it from Rugby were propagated by US universities.
>>
>>145501517
It’s not even comparable. NBA playoffs are a bloated mess. No one wants 7-game first round series
>>
>>145500832
I honestly imagine that if you don't live in the United States you'd probably assume that the NBA is nearly on par with the NFL.

The amount of media attention it gets vs actual viewership is astonishing.
>>
Why isn't rugby league at least somewhat popular in the USA? The rules seem at least fairly similar to gridiron football.
>>
>>145501710
Because there's already a similar sport to it.
>>
>>145455581
Americans who watch college women sports, is it for the competition or for the sexual attraction ? Honestly
>>
>>145501946
