https://www-as--web-jp.translate.goog/super-formula/1149799?all&_x_tr_sl=ja&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc>"As a driver, I had won championships and victories, but the results were not as good as I had hoped for after moving to Nakajima Racing.>Also, as my career progressed, I lost more and more to teammates and other people, so I never lost confidence, but I always felt that there was a gap between what I wanted and the expectations of my team and those around me (in terms of results).">"I've been told to keep it a secret... but Nakajima (General Manager Satoru) told me first that it would be this year. This doesn't mean I'm ending everything (my active career with Formula), so I don't want people to have a negative impression of me as a racing driver going forward... but it's really about my health .>I'm worried about my health, so Nakajima said, 'How about you retire this year?' and 'Please retire.'">"I had been thinking about when to retire for the past few years, but I realized that it's not easy to quit doing what you love and what you want to do. In that sense, Nakajima was concerned about my health and told me to 'hand it over to the next generation.'>I'm really grateful to Nakajima for giving me the push I needed when I couldn't decide when to retire myself, and I think those 15 years have been truly fulfilling.">"As for his family, they weren't that surprised. They seemed to be somewhat relieved. While they wanted him to win, I think deep down they also wanted him to return home safely, so I think they were relieved that one of those burdens had been reduced. I think there is some sadness for them, including his family, but I think the biggest thing is that they feel relieved."Fuck, Naokibros... >>145589697>Chase average finish is 11thIt sure doesn't feel like it for some reason.
>>145589662What's the difference between the two?
>>145590004It kind of does in the sense it feels like he ran 11th every week.
>>145589976You say that but look where Logano is relative to his average finishing position because the point gaps are bigger at the front than the back. It just massively punishes missing races because it was scaled for 54 car fields and you got so many points for finishing last in smaller ones (the difference between 1st and 8th once 43 became standardized) while in the current system the difference between 40th and DNS is only 1 position. One point per position was only put in because stage points and the memeoffs are such incomprehensible clusterfucks they needed to simplify scoring so you could look at the live point gaps and know how many positions they were worth. It actually rewards position differences in the top 11 less than the old one, and the final version of the Latford points had proportionally the same bonus for winning compared to 2nd/3rd the current system does.
>>145590010Point distribution. The current non-playoff format includes stage points - minus playoff round eliminations and playoff round point resets. The Winston Cup format didn't include playoff points or stage points. The only bonus points you got was 5 for leading the most laps, 5 for leading a lap. If NASCAR was smart we could have a tweaked Winston Cup format with many more bonus points for each win and most laps led per race. >>145589976 is right, the only flaw it had was not awarding race wins enough. It was possible for runner up driver to match race winner with same amount of points riding around 2-10. That's partly how Kenseth won it in 2003.

Is there any modern active touring car championship which uses the classic 'murican 60-80s muscle cars and isn't touring car masters? I find those machines to be incredibly kino, but there seems to be a saddening (although understandable desu) lack of motorsport events that feature them, aside from maybe a few rare one-time historical racing events.

Since I've accepted that barring drastic changes to NASCAR leadership, the playoffs are here to stay, here's changes I think could improve it. Regular season is all points, no win and you're in. Joey winning the championship was not all that bad compared to Harrison Burton making the playoffs. And the regular season points champ should absolutely matter, they should get an auto-berth to the championship 4. I'd rather the playoffs just be points as well, but if they kept cutoff races and win and you're in it'd be okay. At least this way the 16 best teams will be competing each year.
>>145615433You could even give others byes and treat lower scored teams like wild cards who have to compete against each other in early rounds while the better teams prepare for later races.
>>145615433It should be 1-3-3-3 with the last 3 races being at Martinsville, charlotte and the glen to decide the championship on points. Regular series champ gets automatically promoted to the championship round with 15 extra playoff points like it is now>16-13th get eliminated in one race (top 16 includes regular season champ) >12th-9th get eliminated >8th-5th get eliminated >whoever gets most points in the championship 4 round wins the championship, with regular season champ entering with at least 5015 points and other 3 drivers having 5000 points Owners championship should be year long though
>>145615433>>145615444>>145615589>Putting a bandaid over cancer Full season points format, eliminate stages and overtime. Seems to work just fine in Formula 1, IndyCar and every other motorsport series.

>>145620872daytonadegaallstars
>>145620872>how much do tickets costIDK about the entire weekend, but the one day Cup tickets are about $150. You want to sit medium high up in the stands and on the start/finish line. If you sit too close, you won't be able to see the far side of the track very well and too high up makes everything far awy. Also it's a mostly friendly crowd. IDK if you know it or not, but it is quite common to just make unprompted small comments to strangers here. Sometimes, it's as simple as>I like your XYZ team hat>Thank youbut it can also be>I like your XYZ team hat>Thank you, I like that ABC team shirt. Do you want a beer? We have sandwiches too. You have an interesting accent, where are you from? And suddenly, you have an IRL race fren. So don't be afraid to talk to people, especially at the race. Another good way to start a conversation is to ask race related questions even if you know the answer. >How did the Toyotas do in qualifying? But maybe that's just normal social skills. As far as what races to see, I'd say Daytona or Taladega since those are the fastest and I think seeing them flat out would be peak NASCAR. I've only ever gone to Bristol, but that was plenty rowdy. I would highly recommend renting a scanner and head set or bringing a HAM radio so you can listen to the announcers and even the team radios. IMSA has the best GT3 field and I don't even like GT3We cant stop winning

>>145626985IMSA is so fucking good, it's still the best in spite of it's management.
Foreign series are just boring unless its one off events like this or Le Mans
>>145627005it could be better if it was it's own company and ownership
>>145626994Yeah, fuggin badassern' hell!
>>145626983God I love the Lambos. They sound aboslutely unreal in person, especially on a street circuitt. saw them at the TSS race here last year
>>145627006your loss bud, and don't want to hear you complaining about "nothing to watch in the offseason"sports car racing season never ends
>>145627019Yeah, you're right, but we can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. IMSA is so much fun and they run so many kino races.
>>145627028>sports car racing season never endsThis. There will always be some form of sports car kino going on somewhere in the world
>>145627025>saw them at the TSS race here last yearBased. Who you got in GT this weekend? I'm feeling Va Der Linder and Ye. IDK any Lambo drivers but I just love the cars. The USPS customs website is under maintenance so Imma just go down there tomorrow. Sorry to be so slow.
>>145627005half race long yellow procedures
>>145627077I'm all for the Lambos and raris this weekend. Think you'll recognise Mortara, Cairoli, Fuoco and Ye from the Hypercar class in WEC/IMSA>Imma just go down there tomorrow. Sorry to be so slow.No rush fren, take your time
>>145626791>but I surmise that these are not the best riders in the world entering this raceI mean they aren't MotoGP or WSBK riders because of the rules you mentioned, but Peter Hickman and Davey Todd are two of the best IOMTT riders, and there's a lot of other national superbike level riders on the list, it isn't exactly amateurs.
>>145626985Hendricuck tears KEK>>145627096Remember when PLM went like 6 hours green flag and everyone including drivers were out loud wishing for a FCY?
>>145627038fuck em until they give Road America a proper length endurance race. fuck the Indy road course.
>>145627096I mean, yeah, that shit sucks and they adjust BoP too much, bur it's still better anything else. The only thing that comes close is IndyCar.
>>145627148>it isn't exactly amateurs.I gathered that by looking at the entry list, no Chinese riders lol, unlike in the lower class car races
>>145627123>No rush fren, take your timeThanks, but if I make an external commitment, I'm more likely to fulfill it. Plus, I think I'm about to get a job again so it will be marginally harder then.
The GT4s are up now
>>145627044or touring car kino, but desu the lines between sports car and touring car are blurred these days so I include them all in sports car racing.

>>145627154>Hendricuck tears KEKwhat, I don't think you understand, I watch literally anything except asscar and fag1
The amg gt4 honestly looks better than the gt3 car
Ded Ginetta>>145627280Agree. British GT is kino since it has multi class racing between GT3s and GT4s and it's always great fun>>145627310This too
>>145627310it's hard to tell them apart tbdesu, most generic GT 3/4 car running right now IMO. it's very successful, I'll give it that, but it's a boring car. easily the most boring out of the current German GT cars. that's why you need anime livery to spice it up.
>>145627280>GT4 is more interesting than TCR I think GT4 suffers from this impression while TCR benefits from it because more rich shitters are "too good" for TCR so they go shit up GT4.
>>145627326I don't watch Bri'ish/European racing often because I usually stay up late to watch Australian/Asian racing, then sleep during Euro stuff, and then get up to watch American racing. mostly I catch the longer Euro endurance races, your Le Mans, your Spas, your Nurburgrings. too much racing. gotta sleep sometime. decisions must be made.
>>145627368Just sleep in the time zones God forgot GMT +3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. (Sorry, Singapore bro.)
>>145627345Its easier when you put them side by side and see how fucking fat the gt3 car is, the wing is definitely nicer on the eyes compared to the gt3 car. It's not my favorite car though, that would have to go to the mustang gt4
>>145627356TCR is like polishing a turd, it's like a competition on who can make front wheel drive the least shitty. but why? touring cars used to be rear wheel drive, and then some of them all wheel drive.>and then manufacturers seethed and banned that lol
>>145627390the Australian (and New Zealand) and Japanese (and other Asian countries, Thailand, Malaysia, etc.) racing scenes interest me more than the European racing scene.
>>145627368I think it's the same for me where I have to miss most of the American races because of sleep, meaning I can't watch IndyCar live with you lads in most cases>>145627421BASED
>>145627400idk man, I like big wings.my favorite GT3 car is the NSX (RIP Honda factory support, but it's still technically homologated)my favorite GT4 car is the Nissan Z (only seen them in Super Taikyu and SRO GT4 America, wtf are you doing Nissan?)
>>145627441not to leave out Singapore of course, but do you guys even have a dedicated race track there? is there even room for that?
>>145627441>meaning I can't watch IndyCar live with you ladsit's ok. if you can find a replay of the IndyCar races, please watch them. the threads here on /sp/ are frankly quite shit. especially the Indy 500. ruined by asscar and fag1 asshole tourists.
>>145627406Theres nothing wrong with fwd but all of the current homologated cars for wtcr/tcr/whatever are ugly as fuck save maybe that bmw running in btcc.>>145627445NSX was also my favorite GT3 car. But on a high note we got news that the Evo22 version has been scanned for iracing though so maybe I will finally get a gt3 car in that game =)>Nissan Z gt4Never even knew this existed, it looks great in the impul livery
I am stoked that the Suzuka 1000km next year will have your normal GT3 AND Super GT's special GTA "mother chassis" GT300 machines.now allow GT500 too you cowards. and LMH/LMDh too, fuck it. we will see who is the fastest and most durable.
>>145627526how the fuck do you play iRacing but not know that the Nissan Z GT4 exists? I just lost a bit more respect for sim racers tbdesu.
>>145627526>Theres nothing wrong with fwdfor a road car. it's shit for a race car.even Honda, obsessed with front wheel drive, changes their Civic to RWD for Super GT. damnit I love Honda but they piss me off sometimes. make a new S2000.

>>145628035Yeah, even in the early 2000s it was a pain in the ass because it was on multiple networks and sometimes tape delayed for weeks and shown at 5 am. I remember having to watch le Mans 24 hours on multiple TV networks and then switch to the PC or maybe just have to miss huge chunks of it. The Spa and Nurburgring ring 24 hours and Super GT were justshit you read about in magazines. Even now, it's not exactly easy even with the concerted efforts of the most based and comfy community on the internet. So I couldn't get the AO Rexy card signed because I wouldn't have gotten anything else, but I got the card. It's all just basic PR stuff. The entire thing is an automobile advertisement, after all. Plus, I'm a pro at this hustle, I've been doing it for a long time. Pic related is from 2010, I think and my first ever race was 2005 Petit (I miss the GT1 Corvette like you wouldn't believe.) I did miss most of the DPi era, but I'm so back.>He's staying around in IMSA but in LMP2Oh yeah, I forgot.
