If ESPN is saying Indiana is basically all but confirmed to make it they are going to be making it
The argument is stupid because there's a ton of fanfics where they lose to Ohio State by 50 or lose to Purdue, but it isn't happening. 1 loss Indiana, as long as it's not to Purdue is making the playoffs
>>

The D3 football tournament bracket has been revealed:
Defending champions Cortland have a first round bye.
The team with most appearances (32), Mount Union also has a FRB.
Ursinus is the team that finally make it to the tournament since 1999.
Well known school Wisconsin-Whitewater won't make it ever since 2018.
Alfred St. is the team with the worst record (5-5) on the tournament.
The championship (Stagg bowl) will be played on the Shell stadium in Houston Texas (where the Houston Dynamo/Dash play).
>>
>>145722763
LaCrosse-St Johns in the second round will be a good game. Hate that they put all the Midwest teams in the same bracket however.

Miami has no secondary and the ACC is weak.
>>
>>145724922
Believe it or not this is the correct ranking. Here's why:
1. One of Georgia's losses was to Alabama. Ole Miss hasn't played Alabama or anyone as good as Alabama, so we can disregard that one for comparison.
2. Both of Ole Miss's losses were upsets to unranked competition.
3. Georgia has a wins over #3 Texas and #10 Tennessee. Ole Miss's only quality win was over Georgia.
So despite the equal record, Georgia is effectively 3-4 games better than Ole Miss. Georgia has no upset losses and 3 ranked wins, while Ole Miss has 2 upset losses and 1 ranked win.

I don’t see it as KWAB. They are spending close to the most money in FBS and are one of the few really rich alumni groups who are interested in football. This is them seeing they can do what made them one of the top programs in the 80s but openly and fully within rules.
It actually helps the ACC to have a committed winner in their roster, especially when the B12/ACC power struggle happens in a few years

I don't think the guy can manage fundraising or donors worth a shit. A&M fired Jimbo right as he landed and it seems like that was the donors calling in and saying they were sick of his shit and they had the money to pay him off. The Stoops fiasco was the same thing, he made an offer to Stoops but the donors weren't on board and rioted and so the offer was rescinded because there was no donor support.

Why would Hartline ever go to Wisconsin as an OC?

He'll likely pick someone who he's worked with at Ohio State or Cincinnati. So likely Gino Guidugli (currently Notre Dame's QB coach) or a former assistant from Ohio State.

Hartline got demoted to co-OC when Chip Kelly was brought in. He may want to start calling his own plays. Hartline and Fickell also know each other from their time at Ohio State together.

I think it's nice that the players get to have a little silly fun, it is just a game after all. The reason it doesn't sit right with me is the same as any other corporate slop bowl, it's just a reminder of how fucking gay and money-hungry the sport is now.

This is kind of a digression but I think
the underhanded cheating of the olden days was leagues better than NIL. The fact that the vast majority of CFB fans no longer care about amateurism or the purity of the sport, even just in name only, is a sign of American cultural rot. It's finally affecting the one institution that seemed even a little pure and immune from the shallow consoomer soi attitude. Even the rules of the game are being changed to sell more ads. It's very disheartening. The fact that players are chowing down on a giant corporate sponsor for the .500 smackdown 2,000 attendance slop bowl is just rubbing that in our faces.

Players getting paid isn't the issue, the portal is the bigger problem. 24/7 free agency is pure AIDS. There needs to be some restrictions on when, how and how often players can transfer. It's not good for the players either. The belief they can just run away and start over whenever life gets hard instead of being forced to fight through adversity is contributing to the soft problem.

The only FBS team with a weaker SoS than Army is Liberty. Army will rise after their game against Notre Dame that they'll lose.
This is according to ESPN's FPI. I don't know where they have their FCS SoS. But according to other SoS nerds: Massey has Indiana and Army at 66th and 141st (and Army ranked at 39) which puts Indiana above all FCS but Army below Portland St, Southern Illinois, Northern Colorado, Idaho, Northern Iowa, South Dakota St, North Dakota St, and North Dakota; Sagarin has Indiana and Army at 77th and 137th (also has Army ranked at 56), again that puts Indiana above all FCS but Army below South Dakota St, Southern Illinois, Portland St, Northern Iowa, Murray St, and Northern Colorado.

>Dabo Swinney blasted the House settlement making the roster cap 105 players: “Obviously we have to cut a lot of guys this year. It’s terrible. It’s the worst thing in my whole coaching career...”

On average, an fbs school has 128 players on the team. Now with a cap of 105, those are all scholarships with little to no room for walkons. Teams will also be limited to, if they agree to join a revenue sharing agreement, $22 million annually for direct school payments to athletes in the entire athletic department (on top of NIL).

I think the sweet spot will be 95ish players. That lets you go 4 deep at all positions on both sides of the ball plus a few scholarships for specialists. Fewer mouths to feed also equals more revenue sharing money per player. At 105 players you're just wasting time and resources developing players who are inevitably transferring out while also lowering your per player revenue sharing.

People got over their shock of FSU being terrible pretty early. They were already 0-2 in conference play before 99% of teams had even played a conference game. USC flirted with high expectations for awhile by beating LSU then playing Michigan and Penn State close, so their disappointing season is a little fresher in everyone's mind.

Congress won't do shit. A reasonable balance that would protect players but also restore some much-needed control to the schools and coaches would be something like this:
>no more redshirting or extra injury years, instead every player gets 5 seasons of college football
>no transferring from FBS to FBS with immediate eligibility until after your third season at the school you sign with out of high school, if you transfer FBS to FBS before then you have to sit out a season
>after three seasons you get one transfer anywhere with immediate eligibility
>if you have graduated you get a second free transfer if you want
>same rules apply for FCS to FCS transfers and FCS to FBS transfers
>only two exceptions: if your head coach is fired/retires/takes another job then you can transfer and be immediately eligible or if you transfer FBS to FCS or lower
>absolutely no exceptions for meme reasons like homesickness or mental health or my grandma is sick because those just get abused until the rule is just a rubber stamp, you can ride the bench for a season while you get over it if this is why you're transferring
>players get a bonus paid by the school for making All American, all conference and winning a national award (exact amount is determined by the size of your conference's media deal, All SEC players get more than All Sun Belt players plus this helps G5 schools afford to pay)
>if you accept a transfer who has earned any of these payouts you have to reimburse their former school (payments from P4 to G5 schools are doubled)
>>
>>145750165
If it helps, Mizzou and Indiana have the same number of quality wins.

All credit to army for beating a lot of teams' asses. 9-0 is an accomplishment in FBS, even if your schedule is relativley week. That sort of consistency and game control is clear evidence of quality. That said, it's not sufficient to say "their schedule is shit" because that gets thrown around alot. Army really has had a remarkably weak set of opponents so far. They've been fairly dominant on offense and have limited their opponent's from having explosive success passing. However, they've been relatively poor against the run even before adjusting for their weak SOS. If their offense comes up flat against a team that can bully their front 7 and competently pass over the top, Army is probably deeply fucked. They have two games against very high level opponents remaining, so they can fill in some important blanks, but at the moment there's a lot of relevant uncertainty as it pertains to their prospects against even a decent team, let alone top 10 teams.

Tell that to almost every Texan team and Oregon. They're only relevant because of corporate interest.

All it takes is Army winning the turnover battle, not committing penalties on offense, and getting those big pass plays when ND isn't disciplined. Worst case isn't just ND losing or winning, it's obvious bullshit refball to bail ND out. That would prove to everyone that the entire thing is rigged.

Notre Dame has been playing option teams since the beginning of time. Once they get up two or three scores. They will force army to throw it all day into the ball hawks awaiting in their secondary. Army is going to get their shit shoved in like Navy did. The best team they’ve played all year is North Texas. Al Golden has the option defense down to a tee.

The NIU game was PROVEN a fluke when Notre Dame BTFO Miami who BTFO NIU last night
Notre Dame is a top 10 team in the country

Tbh I think the 9 other teams on ND's schedule that they beat, most of whom are markedly better than NIU, proves that NIU was a fluke
