There's also that argument that a beard can cause less traction and cause punches to slip off the chin, but there's the converse argument that actually being clean shaven might make your face even more slippery. It's not really something you see debated about a ton these days but I'm just saying from my own observations, any guy in boxing rocking a huge beard has some kind of weak chin under there and maybe they think they can get an advantage that way. It doesn't really help them in the end.
