Suzanne Schulting wants clarity as soon as possible on whether she will be allowed to compete in short track at the Games.The KNSB was supposed to announce the Olympic short track selection on Monday, but has postponed the decision at the last moment. The selection committee still has to choose between Diede van Oorschot and Schulting.‘It's still vague and annoying that there is no clarity for me yet,’ Schulting said at the Olympic team presentation in Thialf. ‘I would very much like to compete in short track as well as long track, but I want to be sure that I will be given a designation. Until I have that, I cannot make any concrete plans for the Games, because I will have to fit in an extra training camp somewhere.’As far as Schulting is concerned, the selection committee doesn't need to think about it for long. She believes she ‘let her legs do the talking’ at the Dutch Short Track Championships last weekend.Schulting won gold in the 1,500 metres on Sunday and bronze in the 1,000 metres on Saturday. ‘With little training, I'm showing that I can compete at this level, so there's a lot more to come, I'm not a cookie baker'.Schulting already secured an Olympic ticket in the 1,000 metres long track at the OKT. In short track, she would prefer to skate the 1,000 metres, 1,500 metres and relay.‘That's what I want, but if I get to skate one distance, I'll be super happy. There are interests that make it difficult to include me in the relay team, but I don't see that as a problem. I have a lot of global experience in the relay. I've won Olympic gold, so I'm no slouch.’The KNSB has until 5 p.m. on 20 January to make a decision. The team must then be officially nominated to NOC*NSF.
