The entire reason I do curling now is that they basically asked everyone to come up/down to Karuizawa and try it.We're now on the second generation of that being normal, plus there was a discovery very quickly that Japanese people are, quite literally, biologically made for snowboarding. Their stocky legs, abnormal torso-to leg ratio, wide hips and broader inner ears make them able to pull insane spins much closer to the ground than other people. Once people discovered that, it was off to the races; Japanese snowboarding is now literally the most competitive scene on Earth.
