Had a similar message after last game. Losing your way out of the playoffs is one thing and not the end of the world. Doing that by showing no urgency or desperation whatsoever is unacceptable. It’s looked like they’ve got tee times booked for April 17th.Getting heavily outplayed by teams just to top it off by being outplayed in the final home game by by far the worst team in the league. Giving up 40 shots to the Canucks in a must win game is unacceptable.We’re closing out this season looking more like the team that finished dead last in the previous season as opposed to a much better one to close this season out. We’re at game 79 and we still have no real breakout structure. Forwards fly the zone and we go for hope stretch passes that lead to turnovers and icings. Not only have our special teams not improved, they’ve gotten worse. We’re constantly scrambling 5 on 5 in our own zone.This team has made a huge improvement in wins and points this year but that is heavily due to a historic sophomore and teenage season from Mack. You watch this team and, even when they’re winning, they don’t look like a sound, well coached team.2 years in and Warso has yet to bring any real structure to this team. The majority of his in game adjustments seem to be a line blender rather than adjusting how his team plays to combat the opposing teams strategy. He’s consistently thrown his players under the bus to the media without taking accountability for his own shortcomings. I do not know how Grier and management can be happy with him behind the bench as the Head Coach to start next year. He may very well be a good Head Coach in the future but he’s out of his depth now and should spend more time behind one as an assistant.
I genuinely think there’s a serious coaching issue with the San Jose Sharks right now. Our power play and penalty kill have been a mess all season there’s no structure, no consistency, and honestly, no real signs of improvement. What’s even more frustrating is seeing the same defensive mistakes from veteran players game after game. At some point, that falls on coaching. Adjustments should have been made long ago, but nothing seems to change. On top of that, the constant shuffling of offensive lines makes no sense. We’ve clearly seen certain combinations work well together, yet they keep getting broken up for no apparent reason. It’s hard to build chemistry when the lines are always changing. Yes, the young players are improving, but I don’t think that’s because of the coaching staff. They’re progressing because they’re smart, talented, and driven not because they’re being put in the best possible system to succeed. It just feels like this team lacks direction, and that starts behind the bench.
