I was actually underwhelmed by The Godfather there yesterday. The screen was almost too big for a film like that. It’s a film that, while sweeping and visually stunning, is a small story told largely (but not entirely) in dark small rooms. I actually enjoyed it more on a standard cinema screen a couple of years ago than I did at Imax yesterday. Other classics I’ve seen there like Blade Runner or The Shining felt great but this one oddly didn’t.Maybe the fact they projected the image at the top of the screen so it felt like we were looking up a lot despite being second back row maybe?
