It’s pretty bad for the game imo but it’s been going on a long time. Mcdavid has been punished by it. I am disheartened by what I saw on the ice tonight. That team was mentally not ready to play tonight and I am not a fan of the effort displayed. At no point did those two teams look like they belonged on the same ice.Frankly what is driving me crazy about this loss is the incessant need to be positive surrounding this franchise. I am as excited as the next guy we have NHL hockey, and the playoffs at that, here in Utah, but we just got our asses kicked in an elimination game on our home ice by a team that we have been better then for long stretches this series. Two OT defeats including one coming off a shorthanded goal, and the lack of execution or contribution from key players is extremely frustrating.We should be livid but instead the prevailing sentiment online and at the arena is ”We’re just happy to be here the future is bright.” While I can appreciate the optimism and cope, I feel like im the only one actually pissed off about this blown opportunity. Is this your first time cheering for a sports team? Do you all not know that the future is not guaranteed and sports is just like life, anything can happen.?There are countless teams who thought their championship window was just opening, just for it to never even happen. We really had an opportunity to go on a special run our first go at it but it looked like the moment was too big for them.All I really want is to find some objectivity about the performance we saw to close out the season but instead its all “hey at least we had fun“. We pay good money to support this team and the effort I saw at times this series, but especially tonight was a disservice to the fans. We can be proud of the fight we gave Vegas while also holding the team accountable. Because we could see their hearts weren’t in it.Bottom line, the franchise is a product and the fans are the consumers. As a fan who invests a lot into said product (through both time and money), I am disheartened that the product completely fell to shit during the endgame. That’s just not a good product, man. None of this takes away from the fact that they’re young and learning and blah blah blah. But them being young and learning isn’t an excuse for zero accountability for the product they create, either.I’m not mad that they lost.
