>>154674503
Why wouldn't they just use hiragana (and kata for foreign words)?
Does kanji add context or some shit?
>>
>>154674514
You can't always infer the correct phonetic pronounciation from kanji but can't always infer the correct meaning from hiragana, IIRC. Most languages are just retarded in a way, really.
>>
When Kotozakura was Kotonowaka, his matches were much more entertaining; he put in more effort... I don't know, I really don't know what the hell is going on. Now he's "in the dohyo," and since he weighs almost 200 kg, it's hard to push him, but he offers practically no resistance. He lets himself be handled and relies with all his might on his opponent slipping, or getting tired first, or whatever, but he'll never fight on his own.
>>
>>154674514
>kanji add context
Yes. There are too many homophones.
>>
>>154674513
Its still possible for zak to lose this and next basho and Dan to fail the double digit repromotion or even as >>154674508 said kirishima could rope and we'd be left with 2 yokozuna-ozeki
>>
>>154674514
The reading is above the name in hiragana, the kanji is relevant because the reading changes based on what kanji you use. Take Shishi, しし could be 44, it could be death death, it could be death poem, whatever. Instead his name is written 獅司, with the first character meaning "Lion" (part of why he often has a lion motif on his mawashi) and the second character is office, chairman, official and comes from his stablemaster's name.
tl;dr yeah it does add context or some shit.
>>
>>154674521
He needs to be more aggressive imo. He doesn't seem to enter the dohyo with the intent to kick the shit out of his opponents, and that's a big problem imo.
>>
>>154674527
Yes, but there are always two ozeki on the banzuke. Yokozuna are ozeki.

Kazuma in Juryo has the worst face (or best, depending on how you look at it)
Like you look at those woodblock paintings from 300 years ago and think”that’s ridiculous and exaggerated, there’s no way people’s faces looked like that,” nah, they probably did.
The inverse of that is Atamifuji who has the best face, he is literally the kawaii cartoon depiction of what you would expect a sumo wrestler to look like

>>
>>154675362
The D icon is really stupidly worded. It means they're debuting at that rank. H means it's the highest they've been within their current rank. Note how if you hover over Wakanosho's D it's functionally identical but says Makuuchi instead of Sekiwake.
>>
>>154675382
Okay so... H looks at the highest specific rank (Maegashira East #13 for example), while D looks at the highest general rank (Maegashira in general).

Something like that? There's still ought to be overlap. Maybe I'm retarded
>>
>>154675391
Yes. If and may Allah forgive me for saying this but Kotoshoho made S1e next basho he'd have a H because it would be his highest position in the Sekiwake rank.

100% this. i thought the same thing. he has decent skin and solid weight distribution too. just a big beautiful boy. gonoyama is close, but somehow lacks the happy charm. takanosho is kind of similar, but all of his features are more squished to the center. ura is pretty kawaii too.

No, specific rank. They should really use a different letter for San'yaku debut than for Makuuchi debut.
The reason they do it for San'yaku ranks is because when you achieve those, you retain that title for life. Your rank may drop, but after you retire, you'll still be known as "former komosubi so-and-so"

For me its cause it smells like shit and i cant stand it. You walk by a cigarette smoker and you notice it but it fades quick, but a weed smoker you can smell 5 isles over at the store or if somebody is smoking in their house it travels across 3 city blocks into your window. I used to be pro weed till i had to smell it all the time and now i hate it.

First, the ring is lowered straight down, and then it slides horizontally from the front to the opposite side of the floor. That's a far cry from wrestlers that are hungry for it. The energy difference when the matches commence is unreal. Zak skates by on his frame and baked-in technique. But he's not present.

They made the dohyo slightly lower. This meant less dohyo to contain all of the evil spirits, causing them to leak outwards and ruin this basho. Fortunately Byambachuluun Lkhagvasuren is viewed favourably by evil spirits after his harsh hazing by them in January 2024, allowing him to easily win this basho.

Did Chiyosoma fuck everybody in the venue?

I understand that the match was quick, but there was no henka or anything

And there was no reason to push Oho down before he touched the outside of the dohjo, Zakura is throwing a mini temper tantrum. What the fuck is wrong with him, at this rate he's a salaryman ozeki.
