The linked signings like barcola and alverez are terrible signings. Vinicius would have been an awful signing. Best case would be arsenal having a promising striker in the academy but I don't think they do. Right now, the striker position is fine as it is. Merino can step in if there's a crisis. The squad depth aspect is a meme at a certain point because if you're really getting stripped down to bare bones then there's a wider problem. Team is big and deep as it is so no one should be overworked into injuries. Squad depth is a non issue. No position needs additional players unless it's a world class addition.

You would think but I guess they've got "rights" or whatever. Nonsense I say.
I think it's that clubs just expect their players to not be retarded when it comes to diet because even children know certain foods are bad to eat lots of. And professional players should know better than to turn fucking vegan. So they don't bother with individual dieticians and stuff cause 9 times out of 10, they're simply not needed.

@SamiMokbel_BBC on @LatteFirm:

There is a good deal of truth in the news about Arsenal's interest in signing Victor Osimhen.

It came up during a discussion between Berta and Galatasaray regarding Martinelli and Nwaneri.

It is not known who initiated the communication on this matter, whether Galatasaray asked if Arsenal was interested, or if Arsenal said they were interested.

I think it’s interesting to see them press so hard early on and in the first half, and try and put the opponent under pressure. Even during pre season in the latter couple of games shows that he seems to be aware that we can defend against the best in the world but we need to start to putting teams to bed sharpish.
Could be miles off, and our attack still needs tweaking but I can’t help thinking he’s not totally ignorant.
I’ll have some faith as it stands.
It wasn’t a friendly and the game does mean something.
>>
>>157385158
There is no way city didn't care about the game. The team looked absolutely immense in every area. Even if city were taking it easy, the link ups and general attitude was brilliant. The directness and fluidity was elite. They looked truly world class. If that was sunderland or wolves, it's a good performance. But it was city, genuine rivals with player rivalries.

Something I noted was how they got into the box more often. More player in the box, more crosses, more dribbles, more direct passing. When it didn't work out they won the ball back quickly or dealt with the counter attack. That surely is confidence inspiring going forward, hopefully allowing this attacking style to continue. Smaller teams should be getting absolutely batter this season. I don't doubt we'll see a heap of low block opposition but they have to have the balls to dominate the game and send players forward in numbers. Saw more defenders coming forward to support breaking down low blocks in recent years, we even saw Gabriel do it last season. That is the real challenge I see, teams wanting to stink out a 0-0.

I think it's past it's sell by date in england at least. It lost the WC semi, it lost the CL final, could have easily cost the season. When the team is talented going forward there is no point doing this. That is what they showed today. If he pulls a low block after an early coventry goal, arsenal should offer Ces Fabregas 12 million a year instead. I doubt he will however, it's a stupid tactic in reality. It isn't low risk, it's high risk because you invite all the pressure and a single mistake is all it takes to concede. If they launch a counter on you as you're half heartedly attacking to see out a game, they have bare minimum 2 players to get past and numerous passes. That's lower risk than 11 men behind the ball, giving them 100% possession.

Very good squad and the first serious performance. Hopefully a coupe of more additions.
City are a shambles.

so whomst is >our biggest rival this season?

dont wanna jinx it, but i dont see much serious competition. really think Arse will do the repeat.

liverpool had a rough break last year, i could see them being much better this season. I think City, United, and Chelsea will all be worse than last year.

>>
>>157386897
He has huge potential. I love that the club are looking at signings for the future. The CB options are all young. Obviously they've got established players so they don't need older players but sub 25 players aren't cheap. From their perspective, the team is well established and experienced. They're all at a good age where they've got a future. Bringing in younger players to learn during this period where they won't get regular game time is perfect. On the other hand, they already have a good few academy players who are poking their heads into the first team. They're in such a good position financially and with the team players that it's going to be tricky managing game time and looking to bring new players in. Likes of alverez does not fit in the team well, few do. Even the likes of mbrappe despite being world class probably wouldn't bolster the team all that much.

If Arsenals wingers and midfielders would pass Gyok in situations where he was unmarked and in a good position during transition/a counter, he would have had at least 16-17 league goals. He mostly got long balls from Raya and passes with his back against the goal vs low blocks.

If Sharteta didnt pull him early/bench him all the time I’d say 19-20 league goals. This nigga started every single game in Portugal and played every single minute.

Arsenal would like to augment their attack. Their focus has been on the left wing, but there is some flexibility around this should the right forward become available.

The club have long-term targets such as Kenan Yildiz and Julian Alvarez, and are waiting to see it the market renders one available.

Alternatively, they will have to pivot to alternative targets.

Hello. Where are the signings
>>
Arsenal have sought to improve their squad’s physicality over recent years to the extent that when opting NOT to pursue one prominent target last summer, sources say a senior executive explained the decision internally by claiming that; ‘We would break him’.

Mikel Arteta is one of the most demanding managers in the modern game & durability is high on the list of characteristics Arsenal look for in potential signings these days. The club went on to acquire a different player in that position more in line with this profile. [@JamesOlley]

>>Coventry will park their whole team bus in front of their goal on Friday
City played a more open game than we usually face but still. The arsenal team looked brilliant at breaking down the defence, getting balls in, Tzolis come into the box and it far more dangerous than previous LWers. Corners looked decent enough. Good free kick takers. It's the big leagues now. Arsenal are probably the best team in the world right now unironically. If Arteta didn't play retard ball against PSG, that CL was in the bag. We were outplaying them until the havertz goal. Coventry are going to have a big awakening I think. The game will be close and they'll come out with a lot of confidence but arsenal take 3 points for sure. I think there's a few players with a lot to prove like MLS too, and he looks ravenous to show his worth. We'll see zubimendi sold end of the season I think because he'll be pushed out and once Rice is back after a rest, he'll seldom get any game time.

Retard. Even when they locked up into the low block after they scored, the defense was solid and it took a single mistake from a young player out of position to give away a penalty. If they kept the attacking football they'd have gotten more goals. It was a tactical blunder. Exactly the same as t*chel
>>
Bookies have Viktor to score the most goals in the PL for Arsenal this season, and Viktor as the 5th-6th most likely player to score the most in the PL behind Haaland, Isak, Thiago, Pedro and Watkins.

Curious why they have him as the top scorer Arsenal when its obvious that Arteta will bench him and start Kai.
>>
>>157399680

>>
>>157399653
If Arsenal hadnt locked down defensively they would have conceded a ton of goals anon, on the counter eventually against the likes of Doue, Kvara or Dembouz. Arteta made the right choice. To say they were the better team or should have deserved a win is batshit crazy. They had a good 10 minutes and thats it.

PSG have a better attack, had a better goalie and a better midfield. The only better department is defense, thats it. If Arsenal dont park the bus, PSG midfield still takes control and their attack would probably have 3-4 goals due to Arsenal playing open. Arsenal played to their strength and that was the only chance they had at winning.
>>
>>157392988
Gd man Skelly is so good in that position it’s unfortunate hes a backup. Truly shocked at his ability in the middle of the pitch because he’s ass as a RB. Slap a 80M price tag on this lad.
>>
>>157399680
Kai has scored 13 goals in his most prolific season. Gyokeres scored 14 goals last season.
>>
Selling gyokeres before he's had a chance playing in an attacking system would be an injustice. He scores a lot at sweden. Did very well at sporting. He should get a good chance especially as he was scoring a lot last year in daddies defensive disaster system.
>>
>>157393497
Havertz had the same number at Leverkusen and Chelsea, it's his brother's birthday.

Calafiori had the same number at Basel and Bologna. Don't think he's given a particular reason, although the 3 shirt was taken by Tierney when he joined.

Bruno had the same number at Lyon, Newcastle and Atletico Paranaense. Apparently it was his dad's taxi number.

Lewis-Skelly was an academy player that was basically forced to pick a high squad number when he broke into the team, but 49 is a special number for Arsenal fans and that's part of the reason he chose it. Plus he has a chant based on the number now so he's not changing it.

@sachatavolieri:

Arsenal has decided to move in the coming days to sign Kenan Yıldız.

Arsenal is expected to submit an offer or attempt to negotiate.

@imxxxd7
>>
( @sachatavolieri ) - Full News

We previously discussed the matter in mid-June: Kenan Yıldız is a real target for Arsenal, and a dream for Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal has decided to make a move, and it's expected in the coming days that there will be a bid or at least an official approach toward Juventus.

Simply put, Arsenal has decided to go all out for the deal. They've done this before with Vinícius Júnior's entourage, but the Brazilian renewed his contract, so the club is now heading toward an option that has Arteta eager to sign for several months.

Arsenal will try with everything they've got, and Kenan Yıldız is a very serious option for the club

>>
>>157399879
Yes but Gyok has been benched 4 times (real matches) in a row. Burnley, Palace, PSG and now City. He isnt going to start another game for Arsenal in the PL unless Havertz is injured and is usually subbed on late for Havertz, around the 70th-85th minute.

There is no way he even reaches 5 goals with so few minutes, so why does the bookies have him as the favorite for Arsenal top goal scorer? I’d put my € on Havertz as top scorer if I had any to wager.

Think the odds for Viktor was 1.66 and for Havertz ~2.3.
>>
>>157400120

And there are signs that the strain of the matches is finally beginning to take a toll on Declan Rice's body, as he was suffering from nerve pain in his knee tendons extending down to his lower back.

Rice needed injections to help him get through the second half of last season, but he insists that playing at this regular pace is the normal situation for him

And after England's 6-4 win over France on July 18 and finishing the World Cup in third place, Rice said:

"I was physically finished"

There have been many internal changes at Arsenal

Regarding the changes in the medical department, they were part of a comprehensive club strategy. Of course, Mikel Arteta was part of it, but the bulk of the internal club communication regarding these changes came from CEO Richard Garlick.

Arsenal sees this as a way to develop the club, something all major institutions do at some stage, even when they're successful.

Injuries were one of the weak points last season, and Arteta felt there were two periods when the Premier League title slipped away from Arsenal: in November when he only had Mikel Merino in attack, and in March when the team suffered a large number of injuries around the international break

Myles Lewis-Skelly's future is undecided

Arsenal are under pressure to sell as well as buy this summer, but Arteta has shown his view of the player by including him as a starter in the Community Shield.

However, when Arteta was asked last Friday about Lewis-Skelly's role in the team, he replied: "It depends on the squad," which is a somewhat ambiguous answer.
>>
( @SamBIitz ) - Sky

Mikel Arteta wants to keep Nwaneri, but on the condition that he gets regular minutes, which seems difficult after being left out of the Manchester City match squad.

Arsenal faces two options: sell him to fund attacking reinforcements, or loan him out to boost his value in the future.

With Max Dowman rising, it seems this summer is crucial for Nwaneri's future.

I've had similar things before. These things take a lot of time. They usually heal naturally but I'd imagine a bit quicker with phyiso. There's a limit to how fast these things heal though. He should be rested a lot and treated like how norsgaard was by giving him the odd easy game in my opinion for at least 6 months. I imagine his presence in the team is enough of a boost and with an emerging skelly and newly signed bruno, he can safely be side lined for a long time. Biggest thing is just rest and very light exercise. Don't want to fuck anymore with nerves because it'll be constant pain and then eventually weakness and instability. At which point the career will be over. Unironically needs to do a coaching career in downtime.

Arsenal didn’t move for Morgan Rogers or - as yet - Bradley Barcola, because they don’t feel they were quite worth the £110m-plus prices quoted. The value is viewed as that crucial difference between a player that will bolster you & one that will really elevate you.

Arsenal’s internal analytics show that Gabriel Martinelli is as effective as many of the targets in the £80m-£100m bracket. Arsenal would probably move for Eli Junior Kroupi had he not been injured, while Barcola could still appeal depending on the price. [@MiguelDelaney]

>Arsenal are preparing a double move for two of Manchester United’s promising young players, James Scanlon and Habeeb Ogunneye.

>According to Telegraph Sport, Arsenal are working on potential transfers for Scanlon, a 19-year-old winger, and 20-year-old defender Ogunneye. The club are pursuing an ambitious youth recruitment strategy and are reportedly confident that both deals could be completed this summer.

>Scanlon joined United from Derby County in 2021 and has earned 24 international caps for Gibraltar, representing his mother’s country of birth. He spent the latter part of last season on loan at Swindon Town.

>Ogunneye, meanwhile, featured in 21 games for Newport County before returning to United in January. The London-born defender has also been named in several first-team squads, including United’s FA Cup semi-final win against Coventry City in 2024.

>Arsenal’s interest comes after United recruited two of the Gunners’ highly rated youngsters, Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi, in recent seasons.

>The Premier League champions are also increasingly confident of signing Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa.

>Arsenal’s youth recruitment has extended to Cardiff City teenager Axel Donczew, with a deal reportedly close. The 16-year-old midfielder became Cardiff’s youngest player last year when he appeared against Newport aged 15 years and 234 days.

>Arsenal are also nearing a deal for Liverpool’s 16-year-old England youth international Vincent Joseph, although the transfer fee remains unknown. Crystal Palace forward Mylo Bernard, also 16, is another young attacker attracting Arsenal’s attention.

>The club have already signed 18-year-old defender Elijah Upson from Tottenham Hotspur. Upson is the son of former England and Arsenal defender Matthew Upson and moved to north London earlier this summer.
