>Setting Basically late medieval to early Renaissance Europe >Magic Not really available to players, expect in the form of extremely rare high level magical weapons and items. BBEG should possess magic abilities >Player characters European presenting male fighters only, maximum one low level hedge wizard or shaman>Races All NPCs and PC should be human, finding a non-human village like elves should be extremely rare, unlikely, and magical experience
This is such a common set of "tasteful" opinions espoused here, are they all just nogames, and if not, why aren't arthurian/historical games more popular?
>>97222512no blacks, Indians, Tieflings or "that guy" player, low magic setting I'm not talking about Wizards being ultra rare literally not every damn class & their mother need spells there is only Humans, Gnomes, Dwarf, High Elf, Dark Elf for player Characters & classic Monster races are that *monsters* such as Orcs, Goblins & kobolds they will never be player races. for classes there will only be Cleric, Paladin, Fighter, Barbarian, Wizard, Sorcerer & Warlock(not the D&D shit kind) & Troubadour.
>>97241397Real answer: because d&d, which has it's own specific flavor of gonzo-ish fantasy, is the default game and when branching out people feel generally more comfortable in switching genre completely (going for scifi, modern, horror, etc..) so historicist fantasy games are mostly left out.
>>97241704you know that's a fair point, you see plenty of stuff outside fantasy, but fantasy is almost always dnd kitchen sink. I've tried to run slightly different fantasy games, but 90% of players will still play as if standard dnd fantasy tropes are the case so it's very hard to wrangle them off it. The solution I've found to get people out of that head space is to mandate from the GM chair what kind of characters everyone is playing, if you say "alright, everyone is playing an elf of this type" it's much easier for them to accept and learn the elf culture of your particular game and they're ready to accept the tone you have on offer, where's if you say "ok make whatever you like" they're going to come into it with DND standard brain no matter what you throw at them.
>>97241764why do you want to change their preferences? how do you know you're not the one who needs to change?

>>97241721>NTA but I like some of the stuff they did with the Coalition.I won't post my full anti-SI screed because it's Christmas, but they're actually my least favorite thing in V5. On its own, I would agree that humans should be genuine threats in a VtM game. Problem is I can't stand how they did it with the SI. They homogenized everyone, have crazy plot armor, fetishize the intelligence community (which is nowhere near that competent), and just make the vampires look retarded. I'm a vigilfah through and through, that game does threatening hunter groups right. SI is a tour de force in how to do them wrong.I would also disagree with "WoD is a ridiculous sci fi setting with vampires taped on" because I don't like most of oWoD outside of vampire so that doesn't apply to my table. I'm fine with reasonable hypertech like what TF:V has, the SI takes it into dumbass territory.

>>97241832There's a few Blood Sorcery paths outside of the Tremere's but most of them are from Dark Ages, so using them in Modern Nights (Or other eras after DA) would need your Kindred to learn it from somewhere. Lasombra just have it easy in that regard.

>>97241725yeah you can use them straight out of the bottle
>>97241725They are thinner, yes but still have very good coverage. And I noticed they require much more water than, say, Vallejo, before they break, which is quite good for glazing.
>>97241725>thinning them like I do other brandwhy would you when you are already seeing they are thinneryou want to chase a target consistency or coverage, not a target mixing ratio, the ratio is different even for different colors in the same brand
>>97241804People will often follow advice without understanding the reasoning behind it. So when told "thin your paints lmao" they think they have to religiously do it every single time instead of aiming for correct consistency.
I just started fucking around with volumetric highlights and was wondering if the backs of busier models are meant to just be duller than the front where the source light usually isit makes sense from a realism standpoint but still feels wrong since so much detail just winds up undefined

Magic should be rare, mysterious, superstitious. It should take time to use and be exhausting to cast When did fantasy magic and wizards turn in Avatar the Last Airbender shooting fire and lightning out their assholes?
>>97240152Magic eventually becomes an opinion in a materialistic world, or overwhelmingly deconstructed and reconstructed. Something can look like magic - have all the necessary criteria for magical qualification - but still not be seen as magic. Look at Christian rites. Look at modern day science and technology. We are living in an Atlantean world.

>>97241531yes but gandalf is contractually forced to not be that kind of being and i believe even forget most of the stuff he was and could do before incarnation into mortal flesh.so i don't think he should count for that weird crusade against any form of fantasy that isn't low.

I’m looking for the best character sheets. This is both for IRL printed paper use, and online game use. The one from 3e’s book sucks because of the textured background; I can’t just fill in circles with the MS Paint bucket tool because of the background. It looks ugly. Years ago I remember a program named Anathema. Is there something better?

Guys, I want to talk about HELLPIERCERS. I bought this game a bit ago because I thought it looked cool, and I've read it, and I don't know enough people weird enough to play it with me, and I can't stop thinking about it, and I just have to talk about it with someone.>First up: what the fuck is Hellpiercers? And why do you spell it in all-caps? Do you have autism?HELLPIERCERS is a tactical tabletop RPG developed by SandyPug Games alongside a few people who did some dev work on some of the Lancer supplements. It casts the PCs as gnostic demigod heroes and veterans of the War in Heaven, who aided the forces of humanity in regaining their stolen gnosis and slaying the Demiurge, his Archons, and angelic generals. Having conquered Heaven and liberated the mortal plane from the tyranny of false divinity, they now cast their eyes downward, into Hell, where countless human souls remain enslaved by the demon lords below. Hellpiercers, armed with their god-slaying weapons, clad in armor forged from the corpses of angels, lead a war of liberation against the forces of Hell, to free the enslaved souls of every human who has ever lived.I spell it in all-caps because it's title is rendered in all-caps. I'm pretty sure I'm not autistic, but I've never been tested, so who even fucking knows?

I refuse to believe Halo Flashpoint is even a 10th as successful as Mantic claims. In terms of online, easy to find metrics it has:3100 people as part of its sub(P)reddit.2100 or so people as part of Facebook Groups. No one discussing it on Twitter gets many likes/comments/retweets.No one big or well known talks about/plays it on Youtube.Yet it's one of the fastest growing and more popular tabletop games to come out recently?I don't buy it.I don't hate the system, but I am baffled by Mantic's ability to get away with lying about how successful this game is.
>>97237885The second most common complaint about H:GC (after it not being in 28mm) was that the gameplay didn't resemble the videogames.I also think making a tabletop game based on the multiplayer was stupid, but it was kinda what people wanted.

>>97240057There's a Monk ACF that gets Sneak Attack. I wouldn't play Monk if I wanted to use daggers though, too much hoop jumping that involves Channel Energy to be able to flurry with them, and if you're not flurrying or abusing MoMS Monk is pretty useless.
