Trench Raiding With The Lads Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

Yeah it is. When you build a warband you start with one in the stash, but it still ‘costs’ three Glory to issue it to someone when it should be free.

Being the gigantic cocksucker that he is, he got pooper pained about the creators making it clear the game’s official discussion boards and discords weren’t a refuge for ‘chuds’. Which is fair enough, I’m a chud and I also didn’t want to see the spergier members of my community spilling the spaghetti everywhere.
Where Arch comes in is that he’s been on a one-handed crusade to try to destroy TC ever since. He took that shit personally, which is a petty and childish reaction, and his faggot followers have been following his lead ever since.

I kept the same gear through my entire campaign from a sorcerer's slave to being a powerful conquering sorcerer himself, a red silk cloak & a sword, though not the same sword. Sometimes I'd loose or trade away a weapon & just pick a new one off a corpse at the next opportunity. Conan 2d20 doesn't really do leveled gear

Well yes, the system Lewd Attack was made for playing female characters exclusively.
>>
>>97260632
Roleplaying is playing a role. If you are just trying to predict what a person would do, you're not really roleplaying. We both know you aren't dispassionately making predictions about the actions of a hypothetical woman. You're imagining yourself in women's clothes and even putting on a high pitched voice while flirting with your fat, hairy friends
>>
>>97258094
Was she raped
>>
>>97261221
No I'm not. I meet up with a group of men weekly, where I am directed by a rotund gentleman to mathematically determine the most likely actions of a fictional woman borne of asexual dream alchemy. I do this, not for pleasure, but because this make believe woman needs a cosmic puppeteer, dammit. I am her guardian angel, not the lace-bedecked beauty herself. Not the chocolate skinned brewer of bubbly farts (not my fetish. Hers. I am not her). I merely let her walk the streets of my hometown clad in my flesh, that is, in turn, clad in as close an approximation of her imagined outfit as I can bungle together. I am not her.

They always tell you to try not playing D&D, but they never tell you that basically every game other than 5e is almost exclusively played by autistic (and not the fun kind) powergaming social retards who either never say a word, or only communicate by being the loudest one talking over everyone else about their hyperfixation that nobody else gives a fuck about. The kind of people who post anime girl reaction memes and go "this is my character's face right now" or unironically show up with cropped porn as their character art like it's normal.

There's a reason nobody touched this hobby until they saw fellow normies playing it on some podcast, I wouldn't even want to talk to the average sperglord who plays these games let along be stuck with them for 4 hours in a game that is supposed to be about social interaction.

>>
>>97262005
You played the alpha huh, not as shonky as RT's alpha and release? I'd like to think they've learned from the abysmal state that game released in.
>>
>>97262460
I did not play RT alpha, so no direct comparison here, but for an alpha release and an Owlcat game, I'd say it was rather fine. Sure, there were some occasional bugs or things that needed more polish, but honestly I mostly just encountered some glitched animations, definitely nothing gamebreaking and I played for around 18 hours total. Characters got stuck in wall twice, but saving and loading fixed it.
That being said, Owlcat games tend to be so autistic mechanically with dozens of different effects affecting everything at any given time, that sometimes it's a bit hard to tell whether something is a bug or an intended aspect of something I'm not aware of at the moment, especially when playing for the first time

I have got hundreds of hours out of the digital version of Race for the Galaxy. If you like tableau/engine builders, it's a good one. The AI is actually pretty good, too - it was originally developed by a guy (keldon jones) writing a solo fanmade digital implementation of Race, and they just threw a wad of cash at him and said "hey we wanna make an official version, you can keep your version up too"

"RftG vs AI with all animations off" has become my digital fidget spinner, the game I fire up when I want something to do for a few minutes, because my ADHD brain sometimes refuses to do anything "fun" that requires commitment while wanting to do something, and banging out a tableau in five minutes or less is a nice one.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: How often do you use an official GURPS setting? Which are your favorites?

>>
>>97261992
In what context?
If you're talking about penalty to Guns skill for TL difference, the Alternate Guns Specialties article in Pyramid says to just ignore that and use familiarity instead.
>>
>>97261992
Officially, it's a flat -1 per TL difference (except for IQ based skills). Obviously this is a general rule which might not seem realistic in many cases. There's a huge difference between TL 5 guns and TL 6 ones, but very little between TL 6 and TL 8 (at least in terms of how you use them). On the other hand, TL 6 vehicles are often completely different to TL 8 ones.
If I was writing the rules, I'd probably not have weapon skills take TL penalties at all and simply rely on familiarity rules to make things difficult. Or reduce the TL penalty to -1 per 2 or 3 full TLs of difference.
>>
>>97262055
t. anon who asked
I'd say that black gunpowder guns are TL 5, and modifiers to characters at TL 8 (modern) apply accordingly. Guns that use nitrocelulose gunpowder are TL 6 and above and incur no penalty.

there's never any situation you can use a titan when you aren't better served by an Imperial destroyer or Imperial cruiser. They have better speed, better armor, better weaponry, the ability to hit surface targets. Titans are so large they can't even be like "Well we can fight underground where spaceships can't"

I used Istvaan 3's terrain rules. I hid in the iron forests, waded craters flooded with rad sludge, commandeered pintle mounts of wrecked vehicles, and took cover in the fortified oracular temples of the Istvaanian war-singers, and apparently I'm the only one of you lot who ever did that.
You do not get to tell me what cover was or was not in 1.0.
>>
>>97262533
Knight stomp attacks were such bullshit too. Used blast markers, in melee so everything was nice and bunched up, and if you rolled a 6 all models under it were removed from play no saves of any kind.
This included primarchs. Have witnessed much seething over this lol.
>>
>>97262558
even the official lore knows the terra defense is entirely plot armor badly written trash. As soon as Horus fleet defeats the Emperor's fleet, the Emperor was 100% helpless. Horus fleet as explicitly said could've simply fired their guns into the planet and destroyed Terra instantly. They could've just towed some asteroids up above the imperial palace for practically nothing and gravity would've dropped an almost infinite amount of mass onto the palace shields and they'd permanently blow out and leave the palace entirely helpless.

The only reason titans were ever involved was "we need to sell miniatures to our shitty tabletop game" - no actual lore reason.
