Sub-assembly is overall preferred when you have multiple pieces that are otherwise hard to reach and/or movable.
>>
>>97223799
because different parts want to be painted differently. The legs and body I did with metallic paints with an airbrush, while the flat panels were hand painted with regular paints. And doing things like the gold trim are easier when I just have to rotate a mostly flat panel instead of a 4 inch model. And airbrushing inks for that heat treated metal look on the vents and meltas is easier when I don't have to block off any other parts

This is a second OSRG, seperate from the main osrg thread, where you CAN talk about 2e, retroclones, and any osr content you want.
This is different than the regular osrg as due to rampant trolling from a handful of bad actors, discussion is impossible.

Question about elf skills
Their ears are good. But in what way?
Do they just hear everything louder? Would suck massiv ass in an city and elves would whisper to each other in their cities.
Or is it meant in a my ears can distinguish noises very good like you can count e.g. 25 gobbos by their footsteps alone through a door?

Same for seeing. Is it just very sharp eyesight or can they see in the dark or whatever?

Also how high can elves jump considering their are basically weightless (like in lotr) and how far can they fall until the get hurt (if they get hurt at all)

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

It would be odd for an in-universe map to show heretic powerbases closer to the authors location but not further away where it would matter less. I would suspect that those lands are subjected to chevauchee's sauntering out from the blockading forces of Alamut based in Georgia. Probably a lot of heretic Scythians (which sounds awesome), plus whatever naval raiders are in the Black Sea and Caspian Sea, but have yet to take, or haven't attempt to take, a swath of territory and hold it successfully. Maybe there's a hidden Hellgate that's on the agenda, but only time will tell.

Why does lichdom exist when you can just clone yourself in 5e?
>>
>>97223626
Because your clone living on isn't the same as your consciousness continuing.
>>
>>97223626
In addition to the continuity question >>97223655 poses which is quite difficult and generally costly to answer (which varies by edition, which is in-universe split between obtuse changes in how magic functions and versions of the spell), lichdom makes you a lot harder to put down in the first place, brings you back faster, for as many times as you can get away with for a single up-front cost, and actually "solves" aging fully.
>>
>>97223626
IDK about 5e, but in many of the earlier editions your soul adheres to your racial lifespan. Spells can stretch your lifespan a limited amount, slowing ageing or giving you the statistically unlikely but theoretically possible best lifespan while keeping you younger than you look - like a wizard looking ~50 from the ages of 50 to 140, then dying.

But there was usually a limit in place that prevents you from attaining immortality while in possession of a mortal soul, which is why lichdom was appealing to some. You had to tap into some kind of necromantic bullshit to acquire eternal existence on the material plane, otherwise your soul would "wear out" and rejoin the cycle or whatnot.

Clone spells combined with spells that diverted your soul into them if you died unexpectedly were great for staying YOUNG and for avoiding surprise deaths, but they couldn't make you immortal, just long-lived, iirc.
>>
>>97223626
You can clone and transfer conciousness into it, yes. That is what some do. But not all. Some prefer the even safer and more permanent version.

Ask me how I know you enjoy the stench of unwashed dicks, fauxgrog.

The "oldhammer" you LARP as loving existed for about four months in 1987 and was never even the intent of the people creating and publishing the game, it is purely an artifact of them being an actual small business at the time and so having to serialise the publication of their game and setting. Rick Priestly has said in numerous interviews that barring a few irrelevant details the "tidied up" version of 40K that arrived with 2nd edition was always the version they had in mind and were working towards with RT, and again barring a few irrelevant trivialities 2nd and 3rd are completely consistent as regards the setting. Orks being treated more as "sometimes amusing but an actual threat" rather than "LOLELEPEEPEEPOOPOO LE RANDUMB" - which was always to some extent an exaggeration anyway - is about the only serious "change". The rules were changed, certainly, but they'd also changed with 2nd and you groglarpers always pretend that wasn't a big deal despite it being a huge shift from pseudo-RPG combat system to genuine wargame, with 3rd being a comparitively much smaller change from bloated character focused wargame to slightly streamlined unit focused wargame.

Also first major pricehike? Lol. Lmao. Eat shit buddy, I remember actual shouting matches between customers and staff because of price rises in the mid 90's.

I don't know whether you're a pretendy-grog trying to pretend your imagined "original & pure" 40K actually existed or simply a Latehammer faggot maneuvering to try and pretend all the rancid slop you enjoyed as GW steadily ruined their IPs in the mid 2010s onward, but either way it's not gonna work bubby, some of us were actually there.
>>
>>97196529
Among friends, you wouldn't be enough of a cunt to buy a mini knowing all your mates hated SCs then try to guilt them into letting you play it. Every club I joined and every gaming group I played with banned SCs outright all the way up until around the middle of 4th edition, and even then it took a couple of years and 5th's heavy pushing of them for army building unlocks before you weren't considered a massive twat if you tried to use them outside of prearranged narrative games where they would actually be present.

Go to Mutantpedia (the Warzone/Mutant Chronicles wiki). Find the issues of Chronicles From the Warzone and Chronicles magazine. You can literally watch the process happening in real time as the FAQ section progresses. It was happening at the same time (1997-1999) and roughly the same pace in 40k, Clan War, and several other games. BattleTech had the same thing start to happen a few years earlier in ~1993-1995, but a mix of brutal pushback from the rest of the community and the type of organized play events that were happening largely killed it off. Everyone agreed that tournaments were fucking cancer and consigned them to the Bloodname melees at GenCon, the other events all stayed story-related or were shits-and-giggles stuff like Masters and Minions

>so we can't know how ruthlessly competitive they are
Believe me, there exists some unbelievably obnoxious spergs. I've witnessed a sweatlord teaching a 10 year old kid how to play and I commented to the kid that he forgot to shoot with some of his dudes. The sweatlord went "nuh uh he already passed".

>>
>>97222798
Plus he is the family's hero as they are descendants of one of his disciples and thus genetically engineered to be his fanboys. Not really genetically engineered, but the passing of magecraft requires the descendants to share a certain mentality as magecraft is pretty ritualistic in one way or another, so magi families are bound by ideology and traditions as much or even more than they are by blood.

>>
>>97223563
Well, that's a TL 8 wheelchair that costs $30.000, has obvious limitations in traversing particular terrains and can be attacked, destroyed, etc... conventionally. Conversely the d&d abomination (the setting of which may range from TL 2 to 5 tops, a conventional wheelchair exists past TL6, let alone a super one) costs proportionally a ridiculous small fraction of the gurps one, enough to be affordable by 1st level characters, and cannot be toppled, destroyed, impaired by any terrain of sorts, gives you advantages to rolls and so on.

Easy flight magic, but you can't cast it without using focus you'd need for other spells
An obviously no perfect healing/resurrection spells that make a mockery of handicap, the GM will have to find failure conditions less deadly

I'm trying to make a bondage-themed RPG, by my current rules handicapped people would have a focus buff by default. And the currency is magic stuff not immediately gatherable on death so there's a good reason to keep people alive

with Chizi I would like to explore the rivalry with Ming, repair their familial relationships with Linghao and Yi, deepen the bonds with people on their age bracket like Jian/Moyu/Haoran, preferably through some Ghost Domain or Cult adventures, and eventually get involved in the current northern region politics through the elder builds.

If I have the time I'll probably try to tackle something related to the domain first.
>>97221773
Good work so far, anon! It is interesting how Chizi and Haoran are kindred souls of sorts, in the way they feel out of place in their current world, and how they deal with it by observing everyone around them. The way she protects Ming by drawing the heat toward herself is something that only makes Chizi angrier at their gemini. Ming should be the one handling the consequences of their actions, not their kind older sister whose only crime was having a foolish father.

Chizi would try to stick up for Haoran whenever they can, and invite her for their outings so she can get away from the stuffy atmosphere of the Xun compound and engage in observation together. Similar to Jian, Chizi would also let her in on their more private thoughts, though not because Haoran struggles with inhumanity, but because Chizi was privy to her moment of weakness before, so it's only natural they would want to be accepted too.

Any advice? I rolled well but I feel like the stats are a bit awkward.
I'll go with custom lineage and +2 Str to 19, then I take either Crusher (not that useful until I get Manifest Echo at 3) and +1 Str to 20 or take Sentinel (and at lvl4 vice versa).
At lvl6 I'll ASI +2 into I guess Con but then I'll end up at 17 which is kind of awkward because it doesn't push it to 18 or am I overthinking it?
>>

what I mean is you cannot pick up books and have a balanced game. That shit takes experience, of both the game, your players, and a sense of how things are going and ability to adjust things on the fly. A first time dm is not gonna have that. So whether you play a busted class or not, it's not gonna matter. And that's only speaking of combat, which is just one aspect of the game.

But to answer your question, most tasha subclasses are busted

Why is it that so many fantasy writers make their evil cults unjoinable by anyone with a functioning brain cell? Like why would you worship Orcus, whose goal is omnicide? Why would you worship Tzeentch if he’s probably gonna screw YOU over as part of his grand plan?

What makes it so bizarre to me is that, firstly, it’s not like they need to be so off-putting to be evil. Orcus is a demon of undeath, his followers want to turn their enemies into the undead. Tzeentch wants the world to be in a constant cycle of chaos, his followers are gonna be masterminding world wars.

Secondly, it’s not like we don’t have plenty of examples of real-world evil cults. A lot of cults in the West don’t follow Super-Duper-Mega-Murder Satan, but are fucked-up offshoots of Christianity. Historically, goetia was practiced by people who would’ve still called themselves Christians, while committing rituals to summon and get boons from demons. Plenty of human cultures used to sacrifice humans to their gods, not to summon them to kill everyone or some shit, but to honor and/or appease them.

Like to use another example from Warhammer, I think Nurgle and Khorne present more “approachable” evil cults. Nurgle is toxic positivity, and his love will take all the pain away. Khorne is wrapped up in enough language about honor to lure people in.

Like to rework an evil deity, let’s pick Lamashtu. Instead of “We love ugliness and miscarriages and also you get to die in childbirth”, the cult targets vulnerable young women and lures them in with divine feminine language (“You have the power to bear and raise great beasts”), while promising the young men of monstrous races frustrated living among humans that what they’re scorned for is what makes them powerful (and also they get to have sex with pretty girls).

The Chaos Gods draw power from pretty much any emotion, good or evil, but in its concentrated form, the Warp always takes things to extremes, so pretty much the only time you get "good" aspects of Chaos is in cultures that have minimal exposure to the Warp

>theistic satanists openly acknowledge themselves to be evil and revel in it

What a strange way to spell 'Jews'. Damn political correctness keeps inventing new words.

It's just because they don't want you to think that the cultists can ever be right at all. Like the tyrannids install these gene stealer cults and everyone believes that when they help overthrow the planet for their tyrannid masters they'll get to go ride inside a weird bugship to the next planet that needs conquering, but they are actually slaughtered completely for absolutely no rational purpose except to make them wrong.
In-universe the idea is that all of these cults are composed of people who don't know that they're gonna get wrecked (rarely, they know and don't care, but that's almost never the case because it still grants them a W).
Anyway the answer is legitimately just uninspired writing.
