I'm not trying to 1:1 your conversions but more seeing some biker leather Eldar with modern design elements really gets the juices flowing. Going to do another leather only torso and then move on to gubbins, heads, and posing.

I've found from the grapevine that Jes Goodwin is soon to retire from Games Workshop

He really is the king. His concept sketches and absolutely timeless work on mk7 Space Marines and the Eldar particularly are worthy of the highest praise.

His influence will be sorely missed, though with how miniatures are often 3+ years in the pipeline before being seen on shelves, his legacy will continue.

TC's got some big names orbiting it, and is the personal project of a couple big names themselves. A good number of them either being involved at GW, or interested in the vibes. Even if he's not into the weird WW1 vibe so much, I can kinda see him falling into the orbit a little, just because a bunch of the other old heads kinda did.

I mean, Jes did a lot of Eldar stuff, but his design and art was pretty instrumental to a lot of 40k overall.

Still, wherever he goes, even if it's just off into the vagaries of the Webway, all one can hope is he enjoys himself.

he's made some amazing art, writing and models but he's also made some absolutely dog shit stuff as well. remember that everything bad in the first 5 years is primarislop is 100% certified goodwin.

I think he is a great artist and nerd and cool person, but GW will survive and even thrive without him, and I think some of the worst shit in the last 10 years came from him.

Do you include seasonal changes in your campaigns when time goes by?

If so, what do you implement int the world to showcase the changing seasons?

I personally include sea raiders who begin assaults on the kingdom's shores in spring and through summer, who then return to their homeland in fall to winter it out. So essentially a raiding season for my world's vikings, like in real history.

I used to roll up planets with GURPS Space for fun, and even the marginally habitable ones were absolute hellworlds.
I can't find my notes right now, but one was basically only liveable at the equator and it was so hot (water planet with primitive algae producing oxygen) and the axial tilt so massive that any change of seasons would probably bring insane storms. I figured the inhabitants would probably live in above ground bunkers you could raise with hydraulics in case of flooding

In my current campaign the rainy autumn weather is actually an important "plot point", since it allows vampires to move relatively freely at day. My players have not yet noticed this.
>>

Probably because rainy weather should do the opposite. Potential for flowing water, which vampires can't cross.

Yes. Revelation 13 eerily fits 40k.

>The dragon stood on the shore of the sea.
The Chaos Gods inhabiting the Eye of Terror (the sea = space).

>And I saw a beast coming out of the sea.
The Emperor conquering the galaxy during the Great Crusade.

>It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.
Hierarchy of Imperial organizations, lords, honorifics etc.

>The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion.
The Emperor's violent nature (speed, brute force, roaring conquest), shifting appearance and unification of global cultures.

>>97368685
>And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.
The Imperium conquering the galaxy.

>All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.
The Imperial Cult is officially enforced, to deviate from it is heresy.

>Whoever has ears, let them hear.
“If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go.
If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.”
This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.
Describes the Imperial ethos founded on violence and domination (summary executions, servitorizations, etc).

>Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth.
The High Lords of Terra rising to power, with emphasis on the Ecclesiarchy.

and finally
>It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.
The Bible says that King Solomon, who has many parallels to the Emperor, received 666 talents of gold each year. So this corresponds to the Imperium requiring the Imperial Tithe and absolute loyalty, or you're excommunicated.

I love this interpretation because it makes the setting ten times more grimdark. The Imperium's age of grim darkness was foreseen by some ancient prophet from Old Earth.

Revelation chapter 13 should be the unofficial introduction to 40k.

About a decade ago we got a rumour that the Primarchs would come back (before it actually started happening).
Part of that rumour was that one loyalist would turn traitor and one traitor would become a loyalist.
So who's it gonna be?

>>
>>97366030
russ going chaos would actually be cool and interesting but that's too much change for snorehammer. in reality it would be some random irrelevant primarch nobody gives a fuck about and them turning traitor would make zero difference to the setting outside of its contained novel

>>97368604
destroy the physical body and remake him from scratch. primarch souls are already all minor warp deities, emperor could just send them back to the warp and remake them like they were made the first time
>>
>>97366030
>about a decade ago
About a decade ago was 2016 which meant that Gathering Storm had already gone to press and the Triumvirate of the Primarch was already sitting in warehouse ready for distribution. Predicting that the Primarchs were coming back was no prediction at all, as people had already seen Guilliman and the renders of Mortarion leaked right after. We knew about the whole Primaris relaunch a year in advance because someone posted a picture of the Dark Imperium Intercessor Sergeant on his workbench as soon as he got the box.

The Primarch faction swap has always been one of those wild rumors that bad actors like Rob Baer throw in with more verifiable content because it drives clicks to their websites and monetized social channels. People see the headline and say, "wow! Really?" and give them free views. It's not going to happen, it was never going to happen and anyone that says it's going to happen is either misinformed or intentionally misinforming you and here's why:

Space Marine players collect Space Marine models and Chaos Space Marine players collect Chaos Space Marine models. These ranges have established identities and fill established niches within the broader product lineup of Warhammer 40,000, and Games Workshop - famously risk-averse Games Workshop - is not going to upset the apple cart by completely invalidating an entire range of models (much less two) by saying, "these evil marauders are good guys now," or, "these paragons of virtue have fallen to vice!" They couldn't even bring themselves to invalidate old Space Marines with new Space Marines.

This is the same company that couldn't even commit to exonerating Cypher. These same allegiance swap rumors dogged Lion El'Jonson for years until he was finally released and, oh, shocker, it turns out he was always the goodest of good guys and never even had a hint of disloyalty. They're not going to bring back Leman Russ as a Chaos wolfman or Sanguinius as a Daemon Prince of Khorne.

Yeah I recognized it from the stormfiends, but didn't know it was more widely used before the refresh. Is it like a specific clan's colour or something? I know next to nothing about skaven fluff.
>>
>>97368630
And yet flopposter perseveres.
>>
>>97368639
i don't think any specific clan has that color scheme, which might be intentional
clan mors (and now verminus) has red as a major color
the blue on the other hand doesn't really have any clan affiliation although the most notable example would be ikit claw of clan skryre, but their colors tend to be more green and tan
>>
>>97368639
>specific clan's colour or something
skaven never quite stuck to specific colour schemes for specific clans, there was an attempt with the uniforms&heraldry book, but at the end of the day people never followed that, the clans just become evident from your selection of units and that's it

>>
This is going to be a long shot, but do any anons here happen to have both Warlord's plastic miniatures as well as some of Wargames Foundry's metals lying around?

A little while ago Wargames decided to set up a new website for the miniature ranges they usually only offer during events, which includes a fair few of those oldhammer-style miniatures sculpted by either the Perry Brothers or one of their co-sculptors from the time.

I think it's too expensive to replace my infantry blobs with their miniatures for now, but I think it might be fun to maybe buy a few of their halberdiers and greatswords to add some variety to my units, especially some dynamism to my veteran state troops. Thing is, I don't really have any of Wargames' 'normal' rank-and-file miniatures to compare them with my plastics from Warlord's to see whether they would fit somewhat, as the ones I own are cannon crew and some miscellaneous knights (and a wizard).

>>97367685
They look great anon! I wish I could get my hands on 5th edition miniatures, but it's so rare to find them nowadays apparently. I saw a relatively affordable group of handgunners on a second hand website a while ago, but they would need a lot of cleanup.
>>
>>97368487
Haven't tried any proxies since I already have enough state troops.

I've looked at the Sunland range, but I got to say, not a fan. I think their proportions are a bit too elongated for my tastes.

I also looked at reptilian overlord and I think they have the prefect mix of the new and old sculpts.

medium kek

I want to make a character who specializes in gathering information. Basically I want to know everything and everybody, or to be able to quickly learn about something or somebody when that isn't the case.

I'm not sure how to go about it. Obviously with a design goal as broad as that, this is not the kind of character that I expect to be fully realized straight out of chargen. Face skills seem like a nobrainer starting off, but what would be the best thing to focus on after that?

Also Shadowrun thread. The character is for 5e using basic priority chargen.

I'm gearing up for a 2e game. I fucking love the setting. Even with the magic and elves and shit, it still scratches the cyberpunk itch better than cyberpunk itself does, imo. And those Roc paperback novels are an intrinsic part of the 90s for me. It's goofy and not even close to realistic, but at the same time it feels like a lived in world, to me.
>>
>>97363879
To expand on this, I'm reading Shadowbeat right now, and they just don't fucking make sourcebooks like this anymore. It has rules on how to steal cable tv, and run a pirate broadcast. Is it completely unnecessary? Probably, but I love that someone thought about it.
>>
>>97364175
I think the metas make it even stranger from our world, so it feels more like an unfamiliar place
>unrealistic but feels lived in
I get what you mean some of the things aren´t realy that 'logical' but if feels convincing

>>97364190
All this niche stuff is, at least to me, what makes the setting
I remember reading somewhere in the rules "There is so much going on every night, not all of it on your level" and this sheer abundance of options makes this more plausible

"Don't deal with dragons" was recommended to me, did you read that book? What do you think about it?
>>
>>97364342
Ive never actually finished Never Deal with Dragons, although not because I wasn't enjoying it. Got distracted 3/4s of the way through.

I've read Into the Shadows, 2xs, Changeling, Striper Assassin, Fade To Black, Wolf and Raven, Shadowplay and Night's Pawn relatively recently (last few years). 2xs, Into the Shadows, Wolf and Raven, and Changeling would be my recs. Changeling especially is fun because it's from a Troll's pov.

Play your decks more, boosts hidden mmr. You'll play smarter players the more you play a deck as you win more.
>>
>>97364831
How would "target player" instead of "target opponent" behave significantly different in these game modes except opening up options in the context I mentioned? "Each player" and "each opponent" are completely different cases. Again, I never argued all cards should be worded more openly every time.
Also I was talking about nonsense restrictions in general. "Target creature YOU CONTROL gets +1/+1" - why? Why one I control? It's an effect that by design is something that will already be used the intended way in 1v1. Wouldn't a more open effect also make team games more interesting? Another thing is that magic does have tons of cards that are actually worded that way. I just don't get the ones that are not
>>
>>97365637
sealed is a little more chill but also more luck based since you see less cards
limited in general you can just get fucked over by unlucky opens (and draws of course)
draft is really good value if you want the cards in the set you are drafting, and okay value otherwise if you maintain a good winrate
>>
Gotta admit I liked the Avatar set. It helps that I never saw the show and don't know anything about it so it being UB had less of an effect. But the mechanics are fun, art is good and I always liked monks in magic. Only a few busted cards imo. Fun limited. The only thing I know from the show, elemental mastery, seemed implemented well. Surprised there wasn't a black bending mechanic, like gravebending or some shit
