>>97355211I do enjoy the autism of FF14's aether and how it relates to literally everything in setting. I wish more settings and authors put that much effort in and are able to maintain the consistance that makes for unique story telling and emotional pay off of reading something from way back when and connecting it with the new data provided.
So I bought this as I really like Conan 2d20 System and I was surprised that system appears to be very rules lite compared to Conan 2d20 or WHFR 4E and a lot of rules and stuff appears to be on GM to flesh out. Usually i pay for RPG books because i don't want to figure out how much damage or to hit modifier some fancy sword has but in Dune core rulebook, its precisely that, book demands that i figure it out instead of giving me stat blocks. may be its just I'm retarded, or this system is lazy slop cashing in on movie craze?
>>97378875> How does it set up "the session." That I don’t know, I only skimmed the book before shelving it.But if I were to speculate, given the power and status the PCs are likely to poses right out of the gate, my guess would be to expect the game to play more like an open-world sandbox. The degree to which being based on status.
I asked one of veteran players at my local hobby shop/club and they said that Dune is similar to Fate as a lot of what you can do is moderated by "assets" you have, which can range from character aspects like "honorable" or "Duelist", to special knowledge you have like kompromats or special gear you have. Assets work in similar fashion as aspects in fate. They also said item i have (agents of dune) is good for initial run and getting hang of the system as its designed to ease in into using system fully. >>97378875like >>97379650 said, your PC are either heads of house or very high ranking retainers so its usual stuff of increasing prestige/power of the house, corporate warfare between rival houses (as each house produce stuff, so you want to sabotage competitors while protecting yours) and appeasing powerful factions such as sisterhood, guild, the Emperor etc.

>>97373558Oh, sorry, I didn't realise you were ESL. Let me explain what he's saying:>It does not. This part is immediately after being asked if NotLD feels like a political film to him. As you can see, he clearly says no, which should be the end of it really for you.>I can see why it seemed that way. Here's him saying he gets why idiots might think otherwise (amazing really, he predicted you).>But it doesn’t seem that way right now to me. Maybe it’s because I can’t erase the things that were in our minds when we were making the film. Now, here's where you're deeply confused and missed the context. The first sentence is him re-affirming it's not political. The second sentence is him giving a reason why it's not political (because what was in his mind when making the film was making a horror film, no politics involved).Glad I could clear that up for you, let me know if there's any other cases of basic English that confuse you.

>>97389689its immensely better. in 1-2 encounter days it can hold its own among full casters. in 6-8 day games ive seen people put it right below wizard
>>97389689If you're playing a Warlock and the adventuring days are long, you really need to push the party into taking short rests.A player in my group is always very insistent about short resting when there's a class reliant on it in the party, and most classes get some benefit for it. It does also help that a Genie Warlock can take a short rest inside their own vessel, so if the party is traveling you can just pass it to someone else to carry and short rest that way.
>>97389752Can you elaborate on why its so much better? i pulled a jupitermon at locals last night, is it worth trying to build a deck around that or should i stick to TS megazoo

Have any of you ran your players through the Theater Kid Wood Chipper? How many of them tried to stick something in Acererak's mouth?
Wasnt Ravenloft, as a setting, basically created with a similar ethos?Just make it as insufferable and unfair as possible because the designers wanted to "make their players pay."
>>97386071You sound like an angry bitch

So I tend to run high-powered games with lots of homebrew and shenanigans going on in PF1e/D&D3.5e/d20 systems/etc. and I've used plenty of optional rulesets and such and tend to allow copious (some would even say insane) amounts of 3pp and alt content as long as I have a chance to review it first and it seems like it'd fit. Among other things I have used the Mythic rules for some of my games and overall I do find some of the content rather overboard even for my games. I have also granted players customized extras (that occasionally scale) before, once I called them "atavisms".I am trying to design an "add-on" system that's a bit more regular for my games instead of the random campaign specific stuff I've done for people. I'm just not entirely sure what to call this though and I was hoping you lot might have some interesting suggestions (barring making up my own word ofc). Thus far some name ideas include> atavisms> blessings> boons> awakenings (there is a 3pp system for these)> gifts> modifications/mods> templates> splats (WoD reference)> sides (eating lol)Comment too long.
