>>97398396>visions shmisionsHow about 8e and 9e codex fluff talking about how Land Raiders were part of the Custodes arsenal since the days of the Great Crusade?God forbid a force geared so heavily towards close combat would have an assault tank on their side. Or an Imperial faction had access to the very best the Imperium has to offer, rather than Paul Marketing deciding that each faction has to have their own tools and under no circumstances can there be any sharing of kits, because of reasons. Yes, that makes so much more sense.

Surely if this was something anyone involved in creating the setting or expanding it *honestly*(ie, for the sake of adding or fleshing out cool shit for the sake of cool shit, not imposing retcons because of their warped DEI mentality that demands all fiction resemble an inner city western metropolis of Current Year).Literally the entire point of creating the Sisters of Silence was to have a female counterbalance to the Custodes who literally everyone understood were all male. Every writer, every artist, every hobbyist who bothered to convert models before official(all-male) models were made available, they all agreed. Pretending otherwise literally is gaslighting.

Does your setting/game system even care? What's the most "modern" a fantasy setting can feel without it feeling forced or weird?
Depends on what makes a given individual feel like something is "forced" or "weird".
>>97390879Right now. Fantasy has always been about present times, it's not like if Tolkien did it mostly in not! late antiquity we need to be on his boat.
>>97396825>Right now.Fantasy right now feels forced and weird though.
>>97390879I mean, I think generally any setting in today's world without changes is probably going to feel a little weird as a TTRPG, because it probably can't avoid contemporary political issues as framing for the setting. I think you could probably manage up to early 1900's (noir and gangster/prohibition themed games could be fun) or skip over modern and shoot for nearish-future (CP2077 as an example). I don't think anyone really wants to play a game framed by current politicians and blm riots or any of that bullshit.
>>97396857That's just because a lot of fantasy writers suck ass, anon. Which isn't even a new development, a lot of fantasy writers have sucked ass for a long time, but now there's such a vast wealth of media immediately available at the touch of a button that we can truly begin to comprehend how much of it sucks.

Is it even worth trying something like Roll20 online (with mic), or is online play kind of cumbersome? I'm a recluse and struggle socially, so I can only fathom comfortably roleplaying online. I've never played in-person, but it's just not in my comfort zone.
>>97391784>Ice Slick>SnowshoesI really like that combination. It's weaker than grease since it doesn't have a DC that scales like a normal spell, instead it uses the rules for slippery surfaces and uneven footing (Balance check vs Reflex save), IIRC, which can be better or worse depending on what you are fighting, but it's still pretty damn good.I think it also enables stuff like HIbernal Healing, which is pretty great, specially for a Druid.
>>97393752I play online using Roll 20 for the map, Gsheet for the character sheet, and Discord for rolling, using custom commands (made a Crusader macro), voice chat, and recording information on different channels.I only know one guy from this group IRL too. Some of the players have their character sheets inside roll 20, so they just click a spell and the attack rolls and damage rolls are all made automatically.I dislike that because it takes away some of the flexibility from hand rolling my own sharacter sheet in gsheet but it works pretty well otherwise, a lot of stuff is pre calculated as you fill it out.So yeah, it can get a little slot at the begining but after the first session it's not cumbersome at all in my opinion.

>>97396104If it's the Totallynotabot one, I think it was tried although not too seriously because it was just rolling and if you rolled any of the options below the 9 default points you might as not play. It also makes Heavenly Restriction just the strongest option. Getting an extra 2 points and having 250x human physical stats at the effective cost of 3 points, or just 2 if you are a drop-in, puts you ahead of essentially every other choice because you have 7 more points that you don't have to worry about dividing between cursed energy and talent like all how Sorcerers and Cursed Spirits have to.
>>97396731Looking at the cast I thought there'd be at least one criminal, like fredrick sounds like he'd be one but he's apparently a performer? Same with Henryk being a civil servant rather than being a businessman. We also don't have a proper rebel or clanker character yet, but we do have a vampire and a werewolf for some reason. It's actually nice to see how different our doctors and insane crafters are despite or because of how much the cyoa leans on one or the other for the tech tree.
>>97398099Criminal? Clanker?Sorry, you instead may have the malevolent riddle puppet of whom almost had an 'enemy bane' section attached to the friend bonusWant to know another funny bit? Cause tinkering 1 is free its used to get gadgetry but Baffle Box is no inventor and cannot repair itself or create tech like others can or could
>>97391269That is an interesting scenario. Even if he knew it was a trap, he'd be the type to go to it anyway to see how it goes down. While Evangaline is a prim and proper lady who's willing to get messy with her meals, Franz is more of a working-class guy who really doesn't want to drink blood until he really has to.I could see the restaurant thing being a back and forth where she wants to make as much carnage as possible since it's going to be added to her bank anyway, while Franz is trying to protect as many people as possible and playing into the fancy dinner theme while resisting the urge to partake in the carnage.>>97395073Nice work. Yeah, the character borrows a lot of different parts from Bloodborne such as the faceclaim and being a workshop hunter. The proposed setting and the game setting were similar enough, and I wanted to try making something that wasn't an inventor in the traditional sense>>97398099>vampire and werewolfIf you're talking about Franz for the werewolf, he's supposed to be more of a wereshark. I'd honestly be interested in seeing more hunters based on creatures like the orca, swordfish, octopus, or blue poison dart frog.>>97398360>Cause tinkering 1 is free its used to get gadgetry but Baffle Box is no inventor and cannot repair itself or create tech like others can or couldYeah, that's probably why it's a bit shaky as an MP. There's not much you can do if you don't want to interact with the tech too deeply, which limits some build potential. I only got away with mine since I could spend the remaining points on the vehicle even after getting all the DNA stuff I needed to do the sea corruption. I can't imagine what a journalist, or a musician, or even the radio host idea from early would be like if you're not willing to also have them make their own instruments so that your points go somewhere.
I don't care about kaijus but I'm glad you guys are having fun while we wait for kino
Rule 1: In order to become canonical each post has to pick up something that has already been established by someone else and build on it. Only in this way can something new be added.Rule 2: Keep it within reason and don't break the immersion for everyone else. Rule 3: Have fun.Starting with a rough premise to set the tone:>Players are bug-headed-investigators collecting evidence of a vast, hidden control system that governs reality. >Detective work involves getting high on insecticide, cut-up-techniques and orgon accumulation. >The "Mugwumps," the "Reptiles," and the "Grey Officers" all represent control entities that feed on energy. >Don't trust 'em. >They are bureaucrats of a gnostic, alien order.>Be aware of the insect archons! >They are parasitic deities that can manifest as viruses (biological and linguistic), addictive substances or bureaucratic control. >Create a detective and expose the hidden patterns of the manipulators!
>>97396934Immersion broken.
>>97396964Sounds like something a disguised alien would say.
>>97396934The disguise has gotten so convincing that many fell for their own trick. They have forgotten who they really are. This is intentional. The insecticide quiets the human fiction and reveals the hidden reality behind this veil of deception. Including our true clicking forms.
>>97397832The 'many' being everyone. The alien overlords have already won, but refuse to admit their true existence, even to themselves. The reasons are various. Some fear competing aliensSome have forgottenSome believe the charade is meaningful in itselfSome fell in love with humanity and no longer want to return to their original selves.
>>97397832The end goal of all this self-deception is to trick reality into making you a human.Naturally, this is a pretty esoteric goal and hard to accomplish wittingly.Game mechanics involve subliminally programming yourself so you can do manchurian candidate shit without breaking your own self-delusion.

Draw a card.No once per turn, no exhaust, nothing gating it at all.Pair it with the fact its got one of the best color pairs means Draven is fucking absurd.>Red gives it great Spell-based removal options, both in offense and defense>Purple gives it bounces, retreats, card draw and now a counterspellAnd again, if you try to actually play the game against Draven and attack, then he uses something like Fight or Flight to "nuh-uh" your attack, that's him winning a combat. That Fight or Flight replaced itself.Kai'Sa was busted because it let you use premium-costed spells with less of a detriment by paying for Power costs, but her decks at the very least were beholden to card advantage

>>97398425this is the first I've heard the AP palette is bad.
Live painting these gooner goblins. Need to learn how to blend these highlights
>>97398443a copy of my older spergout with some additional notes:There are two functions of a wet palette: to 1) keep your paint fresh over long painting sessions (overnight and longer, if you store it in the fridge), and 2) to provide a moist environment (while keeping most of the water out) to mix your paints effectively.Since AP are bunch of turbofaggots, they use the absolute worst bottom of the barrel garbage for everything; their rattle cans and wet palette are a prime example of this. The paper they use is literally the cheapest, shittiest baking paper available, which results in the paper getting soaking wet nearly immediately, not getting moist, but just letting the water through. Which is why you are not getting the usual effect you can see with a normal wet palette, i.e.: the paint is not beading, and why you don't even have to thin your paint that much (or at all, in some cases). Worse yet, the paper has a tendency to shed microparticles into the paint over prolonged sessions, which can result in messy paint jobs. You want a normal quality parchment paper; it lets SOME moisture through, while giving you an option to mix your paints properly (with them beading). You can buy parchment paper to make your own, or get any other wet palette than AP. AK is great, Red Grass is great (but expensive), and Vallejo is also supposedly good, but I never tested it. The sponge AP uses is also dogshit that you can't even clean properly.>inb4 they are supposed to be perishable. Yes, but not this fast. You are also supposed to be able to keep your paint fresh if you keep the wet palette closed in a fridge, even for days. Try that with AP garbage.
>>97398444I've been lurking in these threads a few months and I've seen the AP wet pallette is shit conversation three times I think. And then somehow a length conversation about a product that's baking paper on top of wet tissue or sponge that you could make in 10 minutes.
>>97398387>but I feel like the paints aren't really being thinned that much or affected at all. That's ideal. The point of the wet palette is to keep your paints hydrated, not thin them. That's your job to mix a small amount of water until the desired consistency is reached.>It dries out really quickly too.Are you in a dry climate or have a fan/AC/heater running nearby? That'll do it. Just rewet it if it gets too dry.
