This is a second OSRG, seperate from the main osrg thread, where you CAN talk about 2e, retroclones, and any osr content you want. This is different than the regular osrg as due to rampant trolling from a handful of bad actors, discussion is impossible.PREVIOUS THREAD>>97206318
>>97256514I share your opinion of the Prism Pentad but don't throw the rest away so lightly. iirc the two other box sets before the revised set didn't much or at all mention the Tyr story line and the same for many of the other source books.
>>97256821>If you were really a Dark Sun fan you'd already know every detailI'm not. Elaborate. Are those novels that bad? Can't you just ignore them?
>>97257781I thing I know for sure is you can ignore that low-effort-bait poster
>>97257969True.I too think that this thread is full of baiters who try to lower the quality of the thread by shitting on nonsense all the time.
>>97257781Theyre ok. i listened to the audiobooks.IMO the setting kinda has the same main character syndrome dragonlance has, but to a lesser extent and one you can ignore. The novels events tie directly into the freeing of Tyr with the death of Kalak.

>>97256264>>97256293Thanks but I live in Europe. I don't want to pay $40 shipping costs plus $20-30 import inspection fees for a $35 playmat.I like the beta mat but it's going for $100 over here on the secondary market.
>>97258731For Alice, specifically, I think her best card, both from an artwork and gameplay perspective, is Alice - Growing Girl. It features her classic costume and looks like it could have come straight from the movie, and for gameplay, the card effects are very versatile and could easily trigger a win condition.
>>97252969When the last thread was complaining about "japanese art OPs" did they mean to make 2 separate DM threads both illustrated by japanese artists to make a point? What even is the reason most come here now? To complain?
>>97258855A runner-up to this is Alice - Tea Alchemist, which features a reimagined costume that I think looks very nice on her, and I like the color scheme in general. From a gameplay standpoint, she's a little more situational, but even if she's only exerting one of your opponent's characters, that's still just as good as many Elsa cards that do similar things.
>>97258884As for non-Alice cards, The Queen of Hearts has a ton of good ones, but nothing beats the sheer creepiness of Cheshire Cat - From the Shadows. The art looks like a bad acid trip under a black light, which is pretty on-brand for Alice in Wonderland, and the ability to banish a damaged character every turn is hard to dismiss, especially with more recent Emerald cards that damage all opposing characters.
Dubs and above turn into canon.

They always tell you to try not playing D&D, but they never tell you that basically every game other than 5e is almost exclusively played by autistic (and not the fun kind) powergaming social retards who either never say a word, or only communicate by being the loudest one talking over everyone else about their hyperfixation that nobody else gives a fuck about. The kind of people who post anime girl reaction memes and go "this is my character's face right now" or unironically show up with cropped porn as their character art like it's normal. There's a reason nobody touched this hobby until they saw fellow normies playing it on some podcast, I wouldn't even want to talk to the average sperglord who plays these games let along be stuck with them for 4 hours in a game that is supposed to be about social interaction.
>>97258912nope, didn't even read the post, its just spam at a glance. hope that helps.
>>97258892I'll give you a clue: if you stop using cat images and the exact same format, there is less chance poeople will instantly point your thread as endless spam following the exact same template each and every thread
>>97258932Anyone who actually plays any obscure, non-D&D/pathfinder (desu even pathfinder is like this) can attest to what I said. From a design point of view most of these games ARE better than D&D. The reason nobody plays them is because it's not worth interacting with their playerbases.

Post amazing terrain, amazing tables, and good looking games Rules: no slop!
>>97251221Whenever you go to stores, look around for random bullshit that you can just buy and turn into terrain. Electrical switch boxes, birdhouses, pringles cans, pvc pipes, shipping tubes, toy playsets, a container of peanuts that looks vaguely fuel tank shaped, etc. You'd be surprised how many of these items can be turned into nice terrain pieces if you just paint them, texture them and glue random shit on like straws, foam bricks, 3D printed doors and windows, corrugated paper, cardstock shingles, etc.
>>97252359Good advice. For example, I have a nice crenellated guard tower I picked up at Michael's for $5, in the birdhouse isle. :)

>>97252359You inspired me to make this.Needs more rivets and details on the doors etc but now I'm planning to make a whole FOB set for the guard based off a modular base container.

After about 8 years since I last DM'ed a game, I've been asked to run a session. Unfortunately my books - adnd, 2e, 3e, 3.5, 4e, and 5e are in storage two states away. And i prefer physical copies. Thanks to critical role and the movie DND books have gone up in price which is weird.>4e books are ~10-15$ now. Is it viable to run 4e in 2025? I don't remember hating it and I still remember some home rules to streamline combat to speed it up a touch. Does anyone have suggestions for 1-3lvl adventures or campaign settings? >4e thread I guess
>>97258434Oh, AS npcs, not ON npcs. My mistake. Sure, such things would work just fine as a Lurker mechanic, for example, but how monsters and PCs behave is already different to a degree, so this is expected really.
>>97258439It's alright, it was a confusing sentence to be sure.It was actually using the Assassin mechanics that I 1 turn dropped a pc. I had storytimed it years ago.Deck of Many Things was involved.
>>97255815How much of a boost does it need in Paragon or Epic? I don't want to give it powers (that would defeat the point of having Essentials martials, which is simplicity for those who want it), but I would be perfectly fine with house-ruling some other bonuses into it.
Kinda felt like this was a waste of Dark Sun. Really wish the setting was still more popular.
>>97258839On the topic of campaigns, >Can anyone sauce me up a pdf for this thing?

We've reached the point where GMs are now producing AI slop responses both in and out of character.

How do you like your mutants?Do you like them looking more like anthros or circus freak shows?
>>97254366Okay, you're actually retarded. Please post again to confirm your concession.
>>97254468>having to declair your own victory I accept your concession.
I like mutants with multiple limbs and eyes, make it look more like birth defects.Anthro mutants on their own are lazy furfagbait, if it's genetic freaks made by a mad scientist a la Dr. Monroe I'm far more tolerant.
>>97257071It's interesting how you can automatically tell when an animal is mutated or suffering from genetic diseases. Healthy creatures have a natural beauty to them even when they're dangerous predators or old as shit.Abominations and mutants should instinctually unnerve you when you look at them.
