Post-Apocalyptic Fantasy? >A world rocked by cataclysm>landscapes filled with chaos and wonder>mage storms>An enduring mystery; what happened, and what happened in the intervening centuries?>An atmosphere of hope and renewal, as heroes rise, and mysteries are investigated.>Darkness and evil await in corners and ruins, like pools of dank water waiting for the sun>the brink of a New Age Interesting setting? RIFTS(tm) is the best, purest post-apoc science fantasy game ever made. None can ever come close.
>>97229444>>97231253Forgot to mention that there is a DLC for the game, which is started by talking to a lady standing on a pier at night in the starting area (Cassardis). Highly recommend that you do not even speak to her until later in the game. To keep it as spoiler-free as possible, you can talk to her after you have seen a cutscene involving a very large hole and have explored it. Hope this helps! Game is currently $4.79 on Steam.
>>97231276>Ignoring games that don't have stories doesn't make it so games need stories.Oh, sorry, did you want to have a discussion on backgammon? Or did you enter what is clearly a thread about tabletop RPG settings, and then throw a bitch fit because people want to talk about setting stuff for their games? You know exactly how much of an uncreative, unimaginative loser you are, that's why you've spent months coming into the threads to cry about them, Wilbur. Get over it.
Had several campaigns in a setting loosely inspired by Tekumel.>mankind took to the stars in "seed ships">passengers are suspended in cryosleep>ship AI autonmously searches for inhabitable planets>purges natives via drones from orbit>terraforms the planet according to human needs>installs infrastructure for human utopia On the campaign world the natives offered more resistance than expected and made the ship crash while it was still in the first phase. Autonomous drones still managed to bomb them into the stone age. Majority of the human cargo was killed in the crash and with the now defunct ship was unable to rebuild a high tech society while it was still being pestered by autonmous planetary defense systems. Games were set at different periods after the arrival. Humanity, AI and Alfarri (natives; sue me) have formed and sometimes intermingled in several different cultures.
>>97219278This is like word for word 4e's Points of Light/Nentir Vale setting. Even including the zombies since the first 1-30 adventure path was about the demon prince of undeath trying to assassinate/absorb the goddess of death so he could control everything that ever dies.

God, people are being such fucking babies aout hudie. It's a strong deck but the way people act, you'd think it was the only strong deck the game's ever had. We're completely memory-holing BT9 ever happened. We just had people bitching about CS omni and GAS (an actually degenerate OTK deck) and that's been totally forgotten now.I fucking hate narratives. If I won the Logos Game and got to become the new god of this world, I would eliminate the concept of a "narrative" forever. So fucking stupid. People just get swept up in this shit.

GMing is fucking hard and even if you are well versed in the rules, it is still something you can only get good at through lots of practice and lots of fucking up.I remember having to fuck up half a dozen campaigns that either fizzled or crashed and burned before I ran a campaign so good that it kept going for 2 straight years.

>>97231344Yeah, Ewoks aren't cute cuddly teddybears. They're tribal hunterns that share their environment with a lot of dangerous wildlife, so they wouldn't survive if weren't fearsome fighters. But they're still a bunch of primitives armed with bows and arrows going against guys in full body armor and and science fiction beam guns. That should have been an incredibly one-sided fight. The difference in tech level between Ewoks and stormtroopers is far higher than the difference between 1800s European nations and African tribes, and you can see how well that ended for the Africans.
Finally figured out a way to get SSD-scale ships in a chart without making it stupidly huge. I shrunk down the Xyston (and the regular ISD i added for scale) down to 25% of the size i used for my other chart.
>>97231563This. Phantom Menace did the same concept but better by making the Gungans actually have some technology. They are primitive by the standards of the setting, but not literal cave people with bows and arrows.
>>97231599I was going to add the Mega-Class Star Dreadnought from TLJ but everyone seems to just want to collectively forget that thing even existed, so there are no good top-down shots/renders of it. Can't really blame them though.
>>97228858the problem with underworld is it's not sure what it wants to be and I think there is a reason for thatit feels like they just made a 45 minute asajj ventress animated special (mostly to explain how she's alive and/or test the waters to see if she's marketable) (I can make a solid argument for this if anyone is interested) but then realised they could just chuck in a cad bane story, cut it up, and sell it as a tales seriesventress was basically all over the marketing and the main selling point for underworld, cad bane feels like an afterthought
obviously, clan skryre is the most advanced society in the setting. do you think they had access to warm, running water? you could use warpstone to heat the bath houses for example, and they had plenty of access to metal for plumbing.

>>97226687I mean, if we're assuming a full gender-swap of the Skaven race, the rat-girls would be 'normal' whilst the rat-men would be bloated, unsightly and almost immobile 'Broood-Fathers' sporting a multitude of cocks of many different shapes, styles and mutations.
There was some Skaven POV novels that go into their level of technology. One of the details that I liked was that the average "street" (tunnel) in a Skaven settlement is completely unlit - Skaven scamper through the tunnels entirely directed by their sense of smell, and shops have rags dipped into their product hanging in front of the door, to be smelled, instead of a painted sign. Skaven enjoy having lights, but it's apparently a luxury only enjoyed by very few. That's the level of tech you should be imagining. Other fun details include the "black corn", Skavens' only crop which is grown only in Skavenblight. It's absurdly expensive and disgusting to taste, but the wealthiest compete to eat a handful as a status symbol. Or cultural civil wars where some Skaven settlements just want to live underground peacefully and steal food from humans forever, a religious heresy when the Horned Rat preaches that they must rise and control the surface world eventually. The ongoing tensions with Pestilens, a pretty obvious Nurglite faction that very nearly overthrew the council of thirteen in a civil war generations ago. The ritualized body language that they use to silently communicate, or their ability to spray musks as a way of communicating. I don't hate furrys on principle but putting a Skaven in a shower is badly missing the point of Skaven, which is both to show crushing filth and perdition and to show the total novelty of a society that's nothing like human civilization. It's similar to how gay artists draw Queek gay porn using human body language when the novels give LAVISH examples of Skaven body language that's totally inhuman. Why didn't you draw that? Lack of respect for the source material. Like if you're already gay I can understand why you wanna see Queek buttfuck Ska, sure, but don't make them all cute and smiley. They don't do that. But the straight artists are much, much worse because they're doing a rat with tits and putting her in the shower. Ugh!
