I saw a YouTube series once where two guys would use DM pack emulators to simulate a sealed pool of the first expansion and play a few games with each other. Then instead of creating an entirely new pool, they would instead get a pool from the second expansion, add the two pools together and play with decks created like that. So on for the third expansion, the fourth etc.
Do you think it would be fun to do something like this with another acg? And instead of two random dudes, it's a weekly tournament. Basically going through the history of a game.
Does this post make sense? I might be too tired

WB is what you'd go if you wanted to relish in the chaos fuckery and they currently have the best Saturnine terminators. Legion wargear is overpriced for what it does though and their legion trait just serves as a tiebreaker for combat. Diabolist is also an option for your model, as with Burning Lore for a Praetor.

SoH leans more into shock infantry, Justaerin are terrific. You could make a stretch for your guy being a Dark Emissary, but then that means you're not using the single grumpiest space marine model there is. No possessed equivalent and you will probably be annoyed in finding the right shade of sea green/zomp/whatever.

You can get some extra modelling brevity with the CSM range, those models with some modification can work fine to represent late Heresy iterations of these legions.
>>
my favowite part of modelling is scraping down the proont lines still present on gw recasts i bought fwom chyna when my own sla machine manages finer resolutions than do theirs in nottingham with their proonted master models

>Legion wargear is overpriced for what it does though
Also their legion weapon (the Tainted Weapon in legacies) is unusable by 99% of the guys that can take it because it's a Psychic weapon and only your Diabolist/Burning Lore Praetor is a psyker
>>
I want to make a Chaplain for my Emperor's Children, but I'm kind of stuck on how I'd go about modeling him. I want my army to have both regular marines and fucked up freaks, and he'd basically need to be caught in the middle of that transition. Any fun ideas, before the world ends?

Well yeah. I can and will mess anything up, and plastic glue never seems to hold. Hell I can't even get green stuff to hold, it just never hardens
>>
>>97265295
Greenstuff dries, but only really hardens after several days, and even then is still springy. If you want hard, try milliput.
For your question, you'll have to scratchbuild something. Maybe a halfling howdah on a pygmy elephant? Bigger contact points than a crows nest. Also, have you tried using superglue and braided wire instead of plastic glue and just plasticard?
>>
>>97265231
>balsa sticks and hotglue gun, wire as barbewire also holds together

Could try using small pushpins to fix the card to the outside, glue them and put a dob of putty on the inside so it has a fastener.
>>
>>97265295
>plastic glue never seems to hold
Get better plastic glue (I use Revell Contacta Professional and Tamiya Extra Thin) or better plastic (HIPS or similar, there are specific plastics the glue will work on and ones where it won't).

But I thought women are equal to men? So why would they be worse?
>>
>>97270280
Scientists say that they have a smaller brain.
>>
>>97270280
Women are less ambitious than men on average and are self-contained and self-satisfied. Men are constantly reaching outward and upward and trying to distance themselves from the womb. This is how civilization was raised, and why religion changed from Mother Earth worship to Father Sky God. It’s not that women are less intelligent, they’re just different, on a deep level. Women want to burrow, men want to conquer.
Theoretically, if a woman was grown in a lab and brainwashed to want to be a competitive chess player, there’s no reason she wouldn’t be able to, and her name is Judit Polgar.
>>
>>97270280
Women are not as adept at spatial-visual reasoning, presumably a biological hangover from when men were hunters and needed to anticipate and plan the movements of prey they were hunting. It's why they also suck at making furniture, they don't have the same capacity to visualize moving and placing objects in the future. Doing that well is obviously fundamental to complex chess but I'm sure there are other reasons too like women being in general less autistic and competitive than men.

>Do scenarios affect gameplay a lot, or do you just basically want to wipe the enemy?
As of now, the game has 7 primary and 7 secondary missions. They are fairly diverse, and you gain most points through your primary mission. However, there are a couple of primaries that are very prone to draws (eg. Recover the research), in which case you usually win on secondaries. There are only 2/7 secondaries that award points for killing.

>Also wot are the factions like, do they have their niches, or can anyone be good at anything basically.
As mentioned before, each faction CAN play in multiple ways, but they do have a core identity.
>Empire
The "vanilla" faction. They have the fewest tricks and mostly rely on raw statlines. Besides their heroes, they are definitely a shootling army first and foremost.
>Rebels
The tricksy glass cannon faction. They have by far the most ways of messing with the enemy through command cards. They hit hard, with lots of pierce, but most of their units fold like wet paper under sustained fire.
>CIS
The endurance/synergy faction. Lots of bodies, lots of armor, tons of multi health units, many support abilities to keep your dudes alive just enough to score. As a CIS player, you also have by far the best order control, being able to plan out which units go when due to units like b1s having coordinate.
>GAR
The elite/synergy faction. Your units are generally expensive, but every clone trooper can generate tokens to share with other clones. Your objective as a clone commander is to make a list where every unit compliments each others' abilities.

thanks a bunch!

Couple more things, does the game... "flow" well? Is there always different things to do, or is it the usual "activate my strongest unit and shoot the enemy's unactivated strongest unit"?

And can you snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, or if some random bad stuff happens early on, you are just in for 90 minutes of losing right from the start?

And how does the game feel on the table, I mean... most games I have played are on the skirmish level and have that feeling of "this guy is behind this barrel so he gets a cover bonus, meanwhile this guy is aiming for an extra to hit bonus", from the couple of games I have seen SWL is a more "high level" with entire units doing things - which could be fine, but I am worried about the "granularity" of the game... like... like the units being sort of abstracted with the "only move the squad leader" and "everyone does the same thing" and the other models in a unit basically being tokens, window dressing, if that makes sense?

This is one of my pet peeves with 40k, it is a game where the models "don't matter", it feels like in 40k you could draw a couple of blobs/rectangles on paper and just precisely position/measure them in a way to maximize your shots without really having to put models on the table. Especially with competitive table setups it boils down to geometry and math...

>does the game flow well
In my experience, as long as the result of the game isn't a foregone conclusion, absolutely. Playing Legion is almost constant tension, action, rolling, planning and reacting. Every activation can change the state of the game, requiring you to adjust your plans. The only down time in Legion is when your opponent is thinking and when you're moving filler units.
>And can you snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, or if some random bad stuff happens early on, you are just in for 90 minutes of losing right from the start?
You can, definitely. I recently had a game where my opponent killed most of my army, but I managed to win by knocking one of his b1 squads off an objective in the last activation. Or, winning with exactly 1 b1 on the board because I scored more on turns 2-4.
>other models in a unit basically being tokens, window dressing
Nope, where you put your non-leader minis does matter. For one, only minis that can draw line of sight to an enemy can shoot them. Two, you can bodyblock enemy squads and vehicles by spreading out your squads. Furthermore, enemy can only kill as many minis as they can see in their shooting attacks, so hiding your boys can limit enemy killing power.

2025 games are too new to judge. A lot of these have not hit the wide market yet.
If we look at 2022 and 2023:
>2022
JC 2nd and GoA II were a later hit.
Big names from the time that are probably forgotten or less popular now are: Carnagie, Tiletum, GWT Argentina, Endless winter, Flamecraft, Libertalia 2ed, Lacrimosa, Weather machine, Mosaic, Ahoy, Encyclopedia, Cat in the box...
>2023
Horseless Carriage was forgotten but the wide availability and price drop have seem to given it second wind.
Others: Bloodstones, ICE, Darwins Journey, Nucleum, Distilled, Apiary, Expeditions, Kutna Hora, Daybreak, Evacuation, The fox experiment, Septima, Arborea, Last light....

Maybe I'm wrong and these are still widely played? But there might also be more, do people still play Earth, Vale of eternity, Age of innovation, Sky team?

How is it? Looks bretty fun

Men are always stronger than women. ANY time there is a power disparity during sex, genuine consent cannot be given. Therefore since men are always stronger than women, any sexual contact between men and women is inherently rape, because the woman is physically unable to grant genuine consent.

And since all sex between men and women is rape, and rape is always an Evil act, and the paladin is knowing engaging in sexual congress with his wife, the Paladin has knowingly committed an Evil act and therefore falls.

There's also no tension because they know that these Coville acolytes will fudge rolls until all PCs survive the battle.

If you're a good GM, it's an inmate talent you can hone over time. You're born that way. If you aren't, then no amount of shitty advice is going to make up for your lack of talent. It just is what it is. This idea that everyone should "try" DMing is retarded. The idea that anyone can be good at it? lolno. Its like some fat divorced on who suddenly decides he's gonna become a famous author. Fat chance. Most people fucking suck at GMing. Hell, most of them suck at playing, but at least in that case the game depends less on them.

Nah it's about 25 percent attitude. The rest is genuine competence in running the game and making it engaging and imaginative.

>If you have it, you have it. If you don't, you don't.
I think a lot of disciplines in general can look like this, but I think time spent doing something can really help someone that didn't start with it to get it. I think the wrong attitude like that games and art are all about following rules perfectly will prevent someone from improving, but once they find the right attitude then they can learn anything

I've played alongside a guy who really loved to flex their oldfag credentials about how he once played at a table with Arneson or how he had Gygax's signature on the first dungeon master's guide or some shit. He was the most obnoxious, annoying, derailing piece of shit I've ever played any game with. I've also run games for literal children who were better players than the highly opinionated, stubborn oldfags who prided themselves on their expertise and deep knowledge of TTRPGs.

The old players get set in their ways and believe they already know how to play and don't need to change their habits. Everyone else does. Their egos and undeserved confidence in their mastery of game systems makes them feel smug that they are the truest authority at the table, even as they misquote every rule and cite made up houserules or something some other GM allowed as justification for them to always get their way.

Did you try and get them to play something marginally different to 5e like ACKS or Pathfinder with 12 million rules for them to remember? Get them used to other systems buy running short campains with rules light systems like Mothership or Cairn.

I don't even think rules light systems are always necessary; nine times out of ten, the people complaining about being unable to get their groups to try a new thing are doing a dogshit job of pitching the game. I will say it again: don't expect the players to buy in to learning a new game based on you telling them how cool it is; run a one shot with pre generated characters that introduces the basic rules and showcases how fun the game is.
