This is a second OSRG, seperate from the main osrg thread, where you CAN talk about 2e, retroclones, and any osr content you want.
This is different than the regular osrg as due to rampant trolling from a handful of bad actors, discussion is impossible.

What is it with BrOSR and ACKS? It doesn't make sense for hyper purists to also like a busted ass non-OSR game like ACKS unless the only reason BrOSR like it is because they're just right-wing trolls.

ive been playing acks for years and never encountered anything "broken". more things are "fixed" in respect to bx/1e, so im genuinely curious what youre referencing.

also, isnt brsor all about playing 1e raw? hows acks involved in that??

Does anyone else feel like the Byzantine Empire is the closest thing human-kind had to an Elven civilization analogy during our actual history's middle ages? Or am I crazy?

Even the part where their highly advanced culture was eventually wiped off the face of the Earth and forgotten in most normie perceptions of history.

Depends on your Elves. Could definitely see it for Dark Elves, what with all the backstabbing, instability, gruesome punishments (by current standards). For your basic bitch altruistic fantasy Elves, not so much.

I think 3E demons are mostly fine, but I'm kind of unreasonably angry about Makarios's art in Hundred Devils Night Parade. He looks completely different from his past depictions, and he also looks like a shady as fuck trickster which isn't really at all what he's about.

Merit idea
Education
One dot is basic reading, writing and math for languages you speak
Two dots is for nobility and higher status individuals
Three dots is a high class education typically given to Dynasts or royalty
When making a Lore roll, you can substitute your rating in the Merit in place of the Lore rating
If you want your Dynast or royalty to be a bad student or dumb you can voluntarily have a lower Education rating
>>
>>97224338
That's a Lore specialty
>>
>>97224338
Yeah, that's just Lore more or less
>>
>>97224353
>>97224370
I mean for this more to be of general knowledge, when you take Lore you have to specify the subject of it, which for example if you pick mathematics apparently means that apparently you weren't taught much of anything else even if you were raised a noble. Which bugs me.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

NAYRT but looks to me like a Watabou generator. Weird claim that it doesn't match B/X though, as far as I can see there are no terrain types on that map not covered in the game.
>>
>>97224069
ymmv but I derive satisfaction from making pdfs of useful things I've found, arranged in an order that makes sense to me, and printing them out. Its not much effort and has made my games run a lot more smoothly than paging through a bunch of different books.

That anon might have meant hex images that look like the ones from expert. Not sure if that's an option, no experience with digital hex map creation. I do mine by hand generally.

Have anyone here played this? How does it compare to the older 40k RPGs like Dark Heresy and it's derivatives? How does it compare to WFRP?
>>
Did you ask the 40kRPG general?
>>
>>97217635
Personally I prefer the older 40k rpgs. By trying to make one generic system for any style of 40k game, it comes across as muddled. Each of the ffg games knew exactly what they were trying to achieve in terms of tone/gameplay/etc so they could do it well.
>>
I mean it's okay. It's like a watered down version of Dark Heresy, and the way they're doing supplements means they won't put out anything interesting for years.

It reduced a lot of the little specific rules and does progression different. But it's still basically the same game

This gets offtopic but there's some overlap in normie's minds in the sense that in some countries the gatekeeping for HRT is so intense you NEED to pretend to be delusional and believe to be a woman if you want to be an HRT femboy. I know since that is exactly my situation. Had to change my name and all just to convince them and get my government paid titty skittles. I mean you can DIY, but by this route it costs like 4,50€/month instead of like 100+€ and I'm a total poorfag. Some clueless normie will take one glance at me and 100% think I'm a tranny because clueless normies gonna clueless normie.

>In the game Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the Garou (werewolves) were made to defend the earth from the cosmic forces that threaten to tear it apart. The Garou fight against the Wyrm, the destroyer. It is a struggle against nearly insurmountable odds, especially considering the rivalry between many tribes. These rivalries make it almost impossible for the werewolves to present a unified front against a cosmic force that pervades reality.
>From this morass of hatred and mutual betrayal, there is little hope that the Garou can emerge triumphant against a foe so well armed as the Wyrm. The Wyrm promises money, power, sex, and whatever else the heart desires to its followers while the Garou receive no reward for their striving. It drives them deeper and deeper into despair, or into betrayal so deep that they choose to serve the Wyrm instead.

In connection with the D-Bee question I have this to say: it is a shameful spectacle to see how the whole Post-Rifts world is oozing sympathy for the poor tormented D-Bee creatures, but remains hard-hearted and obdurate when it comes to helping them which is surely, in view of its attitude, an obvious duty. The arguments that are brought up as an excuse for not helping them actually speak for us Coalition citizenry.

For this is what they say:

1. "We," that is Lazlo, "are not in a position to take in the D-Bees." Yet in these empires there are not 10 people to the square kilometer. While Chi-Town, with her 135 inhabitants to the square kilometer, is supposed to have room for them!

what I mean is you cannot pick up books and have a balanced game. That shit takes experience, of both the game, your players, and a sense of how things are going and ability to adjust things on the fly. A first time dm is not gonna have that. So whether you play a busted class or not, it's not gonna matter. And that's only speaking of combat, which is just one aspect of the game.

But to answer your question, most tasha subclasses are busted

Strength: 3
Toughness: 4
Wounds: 1
Initiative: 4
Attacks: 1

Hmm... how would you adapt the Githyanki Knights as a unit for Warhammer Fantasy? Despite their name, these aren't merely specialized githwarriors, these are githyanki paladins devoted to their unholy lich-queen, the unacknowledged nascent god of the githyanki.

As a unit, I'd be inclined to give them +1 Wound and Attack, maybe even +1 Weapon Skill and/or Strength, over the standard Githwarrior. They automatically come with Great Weapons, and they replace Stubborn with Immune to Psychology.

I don't know if they should get any other special rules to reflect their "basic" magical abilities, or if that should instead be reserved for their character equivalents.

One possibility that comes to mind is to give them the option to take at least Enchanted Great Weapons as a gear upgrade, which changes their attacks to magical; while Silver Swords are reserved for the most elite of gith knights (7th level and up), from 5th level onwards they do have a 50/50 chance of carrying +1 greatswords when encountered.
>>
Duthka'gith (Fiendish Half-Red Dragon Githyanki) Holocaust Warriors (fire magic-focused gishes) seem a natural choice for a Rare Unit, no? What do we think of these as the statblocks?

Duthka'gith
Movement: 4
Weapon Skill: 5
Ballistic Skill: 4
Strength: 5
Toughness: 5
Wounds: 2
Initiative: 4
Attacks: 2
Leadership: 9

Gear: Magical Hand Weapon, Scaly Skin (5+ save)

Plus he is the family's hero as they are descendants of one of his disciples and thus genetically engineered to be his fanboys. Not really genetically engineered, but the passing of magecraft requires the descendants to share a certain mentality as magecraft is pretty ritualistic in one way or another, so magi families are bound by ideology and traditions as much or even more than they are by blood.
