A valid, properly functioning badge is a prerequisite to use the public steam elevators down to the first stratum (though of course, they're not the only way down). The Delver's Association sells basic ones (left in pic related) for very cheap: a piece of wooden board about the size of a palm, with a thumbnail-sized sliver of an escape orb inset into the center. They're shoddy, though, and anyone seriously considering delving past the first stratum should also seriously consider upgrading. Members of the Delver's Association (as opposed to another guild, for example) get a slightly fancier and better-equipped design, among other benefits.

The first stratum should be something relatively safe, like the classic grassland or temperate forest or something. Kind of like the idea of having a pseudo-safe area somewhere lower down, though. I'd figure all of the 'expected' biomes would be there (grassland, desert, jungle, ice, ruins, etc...), but I was planning on only plotting out the first three strata or so in order to give people room to add their own options if they wanted.

As for friendship evolution, narrative is perfectly fine, in my opinion. We're not bound to game mechanics, after all.

Neat design, I like the idea. What would the badge you can get in the cyoa count as? Is it the basic one or the fancy one? It costs 3 PP so it should be at least decent but it would depend on how relatively better the rest are.

We could go for the woods as the first strata, it's a relatively basic biome that is often underutilized. I mean the woods with smaller trees, the base forests are usually pretty big. For the pseudo safe area we can think about it later, it should be decently deep so as to feel both earned and useful, so we can think about it when there are more layers. 3 strata seems like a good place to start, it gives enough "space" to have both new blood adventurers and veterans with a bit more information available. You made me want to get my strategic guide to explorers of darkness/time to get some dungeon ideas, it has some cool maps and information.

Bozzo is the epitome of disgust due to Emotional Source. The very feeling of disgust is tied to him by the nature of his Unique Ability, and lets him know the exact location of any being that feels a form of disgust in a large radius around him. His second ability is Device Mimicry: specificially that of a garbage disposal. In his Resurrección, he becomes a mechanical monstrosity, and an even uglier one in his Segunda Etapa. While mimicking a garbage disposal, he becomes full of incredibly sharp and tiny blades, and his essence is the epitome of disgust, being unable to die unless the concept of disgust is extinguished along side him. Keep in mind this doesn't prevent him from being beaten, only dying, and only as long as he can mantain Segunda Etapa. His form lock is that of a particularly scraggly raccoon.

Bozzo was a Plus, almost on the verge of becoming a Hollow, until some stinky fuck begged him to avenge him. He did not know what he was getting into, and now he's a stinky fuck. Currently in Hueco Mundo, he has two goals: find some way to hide his hideous appearance (he's an ugly fucking raccoon too, so he can't just stay as that all the time) and avenge whatever killed his... "benefactor", out of a sense of duty. He has a bad attitude, mainly due to his bitterness about his sense of duty. Actually a nice guy and doesn't like getting involved with other hollows, considering how they eat people and are generally jerks.

It does seem like a lot of information, rentry seems the best option to not take up too much thread space and for ease of repost, you could even put a simple map in there or something. Personally I would divide the rentry in two sections, a tldr at the start with any important information about the mechanics, like setting and the fact basic badges are easy to get, and a longer section were you go in more detail. Like that people that want to quickly know the rules to make a character that fits can do so faster and they can read the details later.

Sam grew up an incredible momma's girl who did everything to make her mother happy. They were a rich family with little to no hardships and everything was going perfectly until she was kidnapped by some freaky monster with a hole in its torso. Her mother came to rescue her but ultimately failed - telling her daughter to take her power and live her own life because that's all she really wanted for the child. It was pretty sad to say the least leading her to become a cynical, lonely and bitter adult.

She only reluctantly accepted the role as a Shinigami that was thrust upon her, always feeling more in common with the humans around her than the spiritual world she was forced into. But the constant attacks from all types of monsters and organizations forced her to agree if only to learn how to defend herself.

Her Shikai and Bankai allow her to stretch and cut spans of time, not directly travel through time but rather slow down the course of events or speed them up. It proves very deadly in combat. Its unknown what if anything her other powers may be but her willpower combined with her spiritual pressure makes her Reiryoku incredible for one with so little formal training, its clear that once she has learned the basics she will be beyond impressive.

Mentions of her mother and stressful situations especially while fighting can bring out a burning rage in her that grows rapidly until she burns out herself.

Raf's body is constantly producing anti-particles, an opposite of Reiatsu, that are able to bend the world to the user's whims. The more of these particles congregate together, the more they can achieve, though their number and production are both insignificant enough that acts of warping reality are far more subtle, akin to nudging the world towards a desired outcome than outright making impossible possible. They're directly made from Rafael's life force, explaining his aged appearance. They create a form of darkness around the user, a literal hole in the reality that wraps around their aura to transform into what's needed.
Rafael's other ability is far more simplistic - it enables him to control metallic weapons by expunging his Reiatsu to make them move. He frequently utilizes this ability to assault the enemy with a volume of swords, and better yet, guns if he had any.

Fonzo used to be a humble accountant that got into a freak incident involving some ghosts with swords fighting, carelessly shaking the mortal world. One of them came victorious, but too injured to go on. Thus, he chose to be a benefactor of the first guy he came across, passing on the curse of his Shikai that is told to only bring tragedy and inevitability of failure.
Rafael quickly turned into a menace, a demigod of war that nevertheless chose to work with Soul Society, in hopes of adapting to this new world (and hopefully, escaping all these crazy ghosts so he can have his life back). He's pretty down-to-earth about all this.

Basically, there's a Soul Society of ghosts who are trying to keep Hollows at bay (ghost zombies). Sometimes, after enough killing and evolution, these Hollows can turn into Arrancar and basically be human.

There's also Quincy, which are basically like German people but with superpowers they derive from Hitler, and Fullbringers, regular people who unlock powers through an object of their desire.

Shinigami (Soul Reapers) are an armed, militaristic force of supernatural beings whose creed is to maintain the balance between the three worlds of the settings. The Soul Society (where ghosts are supposed to go and where Soul Reapers live), Hueco Mundo (this weird desert world that's home to hollows), and the world of the living. Their abilities always include the power to essentially ferry souls onto the next life, whether that be helping ghosts or just simply killing stuff directly.
Soul Reapers were traditionally VERY heavy handed. They pretty much exterminate hollows on sight, and tried to straight up genocide the Quincies.

Rather than evil, they're typically more animalistic. They have an innate need to feed on souls (including each other at times), and as they grow older and eat more souls they get stronger. Basically every faction hates these guys due to this. Soul Reapers see them as a threat to balance for example, since their eating habits cause more and more souls to pool in Heuco Mundo.
Hollows are born when human spirits linger for too long and basically turn into evil spirits, at which case they either stick around or find a way into Heuco Mundo. Arrancars can peace out a bit as they regain their personality (I think based on the original soul of the hollow?) Anyway, they're mostly individual loners. Sometimes small groups form and band together though.

Generally good people (and regular humans) with a hatred for hollows, but unlike Soul Reapers who ferry the souls contained in a hollow, Quincys legit delete souls. Because souls are a zero sum game (no new souls ever enter the system), the Soul Society saw this as an existential threat to reality and purged them as a result.
Their origins are a whole lore mess I don't have space for in this comment though. They were armed and militaristic, but now they're more like stray mercs.

Sam grew up an incredible momma's girl who did everything to make her mother happy. They were a rich family with little to no hardships and everything was going perfectly until she was kidnapped by some freaky monster with a hole in its torso. Her mother came to rescue her but ultimately failed - telling her daughter to take her power and live her own life because that's all she really wanted for the child. It was pretty sad to say the least leading her to become a cynical, lonely and bitter adult.

She only reluctantly accepted the role as a Shinigami that was thrust upon her, always feeling more in common with the humans around her than the spiritual world she was forced into. But the constant attacks from all types of monsters and organizations forced her to agree if only to learn how to defend herself.

Her Shikai and Bankai allow her to stretch and cut spans of time, not directly travel through time but rather slow down the course of events or speed them up. It proves very deadly in combat. Its unknown what if anything her other powers may be but her willpower combined with her spiritual pressure makes her Reiryoku incredible for one with so little formal training, its clear that once she has learned the basics she will be beyond impressive.

Mentions of her mother and stressful situations especially while fighting can bring out a burning rage in her that grows rapidly until she burns out herself.

As long as the inscription on the talisman is unbroken and readable, it is able to be activated if within range of his reiatsu and trigger the effects of the Kido wrote upon it, making devastating full power spells. When his zapankuto, Kiyoshi Nenshun, unseals itself and unleashes their Bankai, his affinity with ofuda evolves to let him create talismans on the fly, such as engravings on pieces of fabric or other suitable material, like the clothing of his opponents cut by his sword. His Bankai's greatest strength is its power over the concept of "Constant", allowing for anything to become unstoppable or immutable. Using the power to make anything Constant, he can make even Kido effects ignore limits to duration, or make the swing of his sword unable to be stopped to push through guards. A lesser but still potent power he inherited was to create and dissipate familial bonds, however he is not familiar with its potential usages and keeps the utilization of his Fullbringer abilities to a minimum, tied to the family insignia ring he wears on his hand.

Okiko Amoto was a normal highschooler until one day he encountered a man who was grievously wounded outside his home. The mysterious man revealed himself to be Amoto's uncle, and before he could ask any more questions about who he was or where he came from, he was bestowed the powers of a Fullbringer, and in doing so awakened his Shinigami blood. In that moment he was pulled into the world of the supernatural, but wouldn't be going into the unknown alone, as the first thing his newfound mentor taught him was how to gather his reiatsu and pour it into someone else to mend their injuries. His uncle now lives with him and the rest of his family at the Okiko Household and lends his immense knowledge on this previously hidden world he used to be a part of.

Okiko Amoto is a kind hearted and timid young man who's still getting his bearings in this new world. Not belonging to any official group, he's currently laying low at the advice of his uncle and training his abilities in order to protect the ones he loves. His potential is immense, but from what he's been told, there are many far stronger than he is, so he has to become a better version of himself then he currently is. This intense dedication brings out a more determined version of himself, as he wouldn't have thought about hurting someone before, but with all the threats in the world it seems inevitable one day they'll cross paths with only one emerging the victory. Until then, he can only hope that disaster avoids his way so that he can continue to live his normal life as best he can under these extraordinary circumstances.

It's strange however... his uncle never mentioned what side of the family he's from, and there are no memories of any conversation that brought up his name. Even family gathering photos failed to prove it. It doesn't matter though, he's family. A piece of paper couldn't separate that. And family sticks together.

A natural mystic born to an otherwise unimportant family. The fathomless power she inherited from somewhere unknown up her line was enough to lure hollows like flies even as a child, leading to the death of her father and crippling of her older sister. As she grew older and the 'incidents' occurred, her status as ill omen only grew, not just among her family, but even the other people of her town. Yui grew used to existing in a separate world from everyone else, barely existing except as an object of superstition. Surrounded by people she couldn't understand, and even feared in turn, she became as much of a ghost as the spirits her blind eyes saw.

But when her mother took ill, Yui had to step up for the younger ones. As her only skills were poorly doodling manga and exploding ghosts, she became a seer-for-hire. Unfortunately, she's more afraid of the clients than the spirits haunting them, so most of the time it doesn't go well. The money isn't enough, and all it's really done is put her on the radar of the other supernatural factions.

Yui is quiet, thoughtful, but with a resilient will. Underneath, that resilience seems more resignation, and the quiet, defense against being punted away. Actually talking to her spills her spaghetti nearly instantly, so she tries to talk as little as possible, and pretends everyone around her is a ghost. It's less scary that way.

Her innate power creates pocket dimensions, even entire worlds, but because of her mindset, they're always filled with dangers. Her feelings on it are complicated.
Also has a certain Almighty ability, which would be really powerful... if she could use it at all.

A deeply awkward, but gentle soul reaper and the current captain of Squad 11. Not unlike a cat that neither comes too close nor goes too far away, she has trouble expressing herself, hiding her anxiety and bashfulness under a façade of indifference and annoyance. Even so, she won't hesitate to put her own life on the line when it's needed.

Originally a wandering spirit from the human world that was sent to the Soul Society by a Soul Reaper. It was only after that when she gained her powers. She's keenly aware of just how fleeting life can be and tries to encourage people to appreciate the time they have. She even went out of her way to learn Kido, specializing in healing spells to help ensure she can save anyone she can.

Her Zanpakuto, Senko Akisame, takes the form of a simple but elegant katana and has the ability to paradoxically make her more powerful the weaker she grows. As she accumulates wounds, expends her stamina and spiritual energy, or otherwise weakens, the raw strength of her body and spiritual energy increases. While in perfect condition, her Shikai is no better than the unreleased version of her Zanpakuto. This power grows even further with her Bankai, showing the Zanpakuto's true nature as the embodiment of autumn. Autumn is the time when life itself begins to wither and die, but also when it shines the most brilliantly. Her Bankai causes her life itself to leak from her body as a cold autumn wind, cloaking her and her attacks in a razor sharp storm and forcing her power to rapidly spike at the cost of gradually dying to her own Zanpakuto.

Her Shikai allows her to summon elemental demons who can summon the elements to fight for them. She can also use the elemental abilities of her summons and cast fire or frost bolts. Her additional Shikai, Fusionism, Allows her to fuse with any of her allies. Combining all the strength, power level, and any other stats that can be shared with each other. She uses her Kido mainly to heal allies.

Her Bankai, Sen No Yōso or a “Thousand Elements”, allows her to summon more powerful versions of elemental demons as well as command the forces of nature. Her bankai can also fuse with her body, making her as powerful as the elements and allows for better control of the elements.

Mianca is a genius and a mastermind of many schemes, she is a master when it comes to coming up with creative ideas for her shenanigans or adventures. She also likes to goof off and tries not to take life too seriously. She is charismatic and energetic to a fault, who can charm most people that she meets. She is also outgoing and a good cook and a great singer.
